[edit]The company name derives from a particularly destructive demon in Japanese folklore.
In fact, Oni is the general Japanese word for demon. It does not refer to "a particularly destrictive demon." See Oni_(Japanese_folklore)
Yep, the above is true, and I am going to edit in the change. Malnova 07:51, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
Notability Questions
[edit]On what basis is this article considered "not notable"? I do realize there are unreferenced sources, and will try to help with that, but I am curious to know what the "editor"'s argument against Oni's notability is. 69.144.66.134 15:52, 10 February 2007 (UTC) (sorry, wasn't logged in when I commented) nem0 15:53, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed. I call BS unless the editor in question can provide a reason; the company is one of the most notable small press comics publishers out there, and two of its books have recently won Eisner Awards.—Ragdoll 18:19, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- Thirded. Oni Press are a well established and respected company in the American comics industry. They've been around for years, though I guess some rewriting is required. --Telecart 00:52, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- A number of comic publishers have been tagged and the question is less about notability and more about verfiaibility - we may know something to be true but for a proper encyclopedia you have to be able to demonstrate it. I have to say the wile thing left me scratching my head as to how to progess so I raised it at the Comics Project [1] and one of the other entries, Top Shelf Productions, has been significantly improved and the tags removed, so if folk want an example on how to move forward you can use that. If you have broader concerns (as I did) then feel free to drop them in a note in on the discussion over there and hopefully we can thrash this out and come up with more general guidelines on how to move things forward and, hopefully, improve all the entries for comics publishing companies. - I just stumbled into all of this, but this is ridiculous. You can put a cleanup tag or a cite sources tag or something on here if you want. I really don't think it's appropriate to question where they are notable or not. I'm taking the tag off. 74.0.121.75 17:33, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
Walk into just about any comic shop in North America. You will find a wide selection of high-quality graphic novels from this publisher. If you question the notability of Oni Press, you must buy your comics from the magazine rack at Wal-Mart. Jr78 22:21, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
OniPress, is the home of projects from very noteworthy individuals including Filmaker, Kevin Smith as well as TV personality Stephen Colbert, and novelist Greg Rucka. They might be a small publisher, but the projects they pick have significant impact on the industry.ifwagba 18:22, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Anyone able to upload the logo again and we can make sure it is properly FURed? (Emperor 16:09, 26 August 2007 (UTC))
