Brand new touring members & other suggestions (propositions) - 2017
[edit]Hello, everyone! I'm a really big fan of Paramore (since 2013) and I must admit, that I'm amazed with how precisely the article about them is updated. However, now that Paramore has begun a new era in support of their fifth studio album - "After Laughter" - there are a few changes in the touring line-up and I feel they need to be acknowledged. I've done some research and - from what I've found out - in addition to long-time touring guitarist Justin York (guitarist Taylor York's brother) and bassist Joey Howard (the brother of Paramore's long-time touring member, Jon Howard), Paramore are currently supported on stage by Logan MacKenzie (rhythm guitar, keyboards) and Joseph Mullen (percussion). Logan and Joseph both play also in the touring line-up of drummer Zac Farro's solo project - HalfNoise. Paramore's first show with Logan and Joseph in the line-up was in Nashville (at a venue called "Exit/In") on May 10, 2017. The two new touring members seem to be replacements for Jon Howard, who played rhythm guitar, keyboards, percussion and sang backing vocals during Paramore's live shows from 2010 up until 2016.
I don't think Justin Meldal-Johnsen has to be necessarily included as a supporting member of Paramore (as he is involved with many different projects), even though I fully appreciate all the things he's done (until now) for the band - Justin produced and was involved in the making of Paramore's last two albums and - back in 2013 - he filled-in for long-time bassist Jeremy Davis (who was away for the birth of his daughter) during Paramore's performances as part of the "Jingle Ball" festival.
Here's another thing I want to mention: Some time ago, Ilan Rubin disappeared from the list of Paramore's touring members, because the user, who made the change, thought Ilan only recorded drums for Paramore's self-titled album (released in 2013). I know, that Ilan did actually play drums during Paramore's concerts as well. He was a part of the touring band line-up in 2013 (up until April), so I have a shy, little request to include Ilan in the touring/supporting members list again.
Lastly, I second the recent request of one of the users, who mentioned that it would be worth to update the "infobox" picture of the band to a more recent one, as Zac Farro is an official member of Paramore once again.
If I may, I would like to include my proposition for the shape of the "Touring members" section:
- Current touring members
- Justin York – lead and rhythm guitar, backing vocals (2010–present)
- Joey Howard – bass guitar (2016–present)
- Logan MacKenzie – rhythm guitar, keyboards (2017–present)
- Joseph Mullen – percussion (2017–present)
- Former touring members
- Jon Howard – rhythm guitar, keyboards, percussion, backing vocals (2010–2016)
- Josh Freese – drums, percussion (2010–2011)
- Jason Pierce – drums, percussion (2011–2012)
- Hayden Scott – drums, percussion (2012)
- Ilan Rubin – drums, percussion (2013)
- Miles McPherson – drums, percussion (2013)
- Aaron Gillespie – drums, percussion (2013–2016)
I really hope my contribution to this page could be worthy and helpful (even if just a little bit). Thank you very much.

- Thanks for that, informative addition indeed. But to look a gift horse in the mouth a little... :) Are there better sources available for the touring members? Can their participation be glossed a little more in the body the article? Mullen's participation as "percussion" is a little opaque too. Does he play a second kit? "Additional" percussion? Rotate with the drummer? Some combo? 109.255.211.6 (talk) 22:59, 19 September 2021 (UTC)
Paramore covered Air Supply
[edit]I have idea that how alternative pop band like Paramore covered soft rock band Air Supply's epic "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All". It is sometimes more Jim Steinman-flavor than acoustic pop feel that at the time used in Paramore's early album. I miss it but Hayley Williams' vocals sometimes make me as "the new generation of Bonnie Tyler" where she previously have a hit titled "Total Eclipse Of The Heart", another Steinman production. So, I call their team to give a chance for them to covered "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All".
The following is a lyrics that reaching Hayley's vocal into more emotion with unrequitted love theme. There are change for new cover version that to make this cover more powerful and more lengthly to compared to Meat Loaf's "I'd Do Anything for Love".
- Air Supply
- And I know just where to touch you.
- And I know just what to prove.
- I know when to pull you closer.
- And I know when to let you loose.
- Paramore
- And I know just where to love you.
- And I know just what's the truth.
- I know when to pull you under.
- And I know when to let you loose.
I remember Gwen Stefani who write a torch song in flavor of Duran Duran after split up with Bush singer. The Moody Blues' "Nights In White Satin" have many truths that Justin Hayward reaching his emotional vocal with rock opera feel. Sometimes if I blended between Air Supply with Dream Theater's music, Paramore's cover more powerful than The Beatles' "Hey Jude" or Golden Earring's non-ballad, "Radar Love".
- "Like the final lines of each chorus in "Anything for Love", the end of "Making Love" contrasts with the previous stating what he doesn't know how to do. The final part of the verse laments:
- But I don't know how to leave you.
- And I'll never let you fall.
- And I don't know how you do it.
- Making love out of nothing at all.
The football analogy in the original version were changed to more dramatically "I can't make me a fool, I can't make you cry; And I can't make my tears fall in my eyes, I can't stop to cry. I can't make the night more sadness, I can't make my world is emptiness; And I can't make the thing that all I have been thinking, I've been thinking twice."
Sometimes if Paramore adding extra verses, it would be heard as:
- Verse 3
- I can my dreams come true.
- I can find my way
- And I'll see you there with my old friend.
- That I know it before.
- I can hope you still my friend.
- I can feel you no more.
- And I can make me better if you know my number.
- I can call you up again.
- Verse 4
- I can make you understand.
- Or I can make you wonder.
- I can try to find me with myself.
- Or with yourself.
- I can call me Mrs. Know-It-All.
- Or I can call me Angel.
- I'm flying free as a bird and I'm flying so high.
- But if I had my wings.
- But I'm never gonna make it without you.
- Do you really want to see me crawl.
- And I'm never gonna make it like you do.
- Making love out of nothing at all.
"Making Love Out Of Nothing At All" is sung 55 times with one of them Hayley sing it to more Freddy Curci-flavor to hold the line for more than 10 seconds. Sometimes there are little girls or childrens who repeatedly singing "Making Love" in the recording of this song to make Hayley more better again. So, it is "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All". It is the first time ever alternative pop band covered a soft rock classic to make it reaching a new peak on the Billboard chart or the UK Singles Chart. I hope you be positive to singing your version or when you released a new statement about you. So, please, I hear your version! Thanks. Wisnu Aji (talk) 07:19, 2 July 2017 (UTC)
Emo pop
[edit]Pasting discussion from our talk pages:
User:Bowling is life, care to offer an explanation for your revert of my removal of emo pop?--MASHAUNIX 20:39, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
My explanation is that there are plenty of sources that describe Paramore as emo pop to be included in the infobox. And yes I know pop punk and emo are also in the infobox but the infobox isn't too cluttered with genres. All the genres in the infobox are fine the way they are. Also emo pop isn't a subgenre it's a fushion genre. If this discussion needs to be continued we should bring it to Paramore's talk page. Bowling is life (talk) 21:00, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
As per Template:Infobox_musical_artist#genre, 6 genres is clearly inadvisable. My argument is that including emo pop alongside pop punk and emo adds no informational value because it is nothing more than a connection of the two. It is not technically a "subgenre" but by this I meant that it is a very minor genre that falls within others, which puts it in further conflict with Template:Infobox_musical_artist#genre. In this case, this is amplified by the fact that it is very poorly recognised; the term "emo pop" sees very little usage and the artists that it purportedly describes would rarely be referred to as such by themselves or professional writers, as evidenced by the very weak article we have for it (which should IMO be either reworked or preferrably merged into emo). In sum, it is completely redundant for infobox inclusion, with a mention in the musical style section being sufficient.--MASHAUNIX 21:16, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
- To be honest, I can see both sides of the argument for this. On one hand, emo and pop punk implies emo pop, and is not a commonly used genre as you have mentioned (much like Midwest emo, which you had recently created an article for), but on the other hand, emo pop more accurately describes their sound than just emo, and I can see the explanation User:Bowling is life gave. To be honest, if I had to remove anything, it would be plain emo. Though, if emo pop had to be removed instead, I wouldn't make a fuss over it. Kokoro20 (talk) 07:46, 10 July 2017 (UTC)
- "more accurately describes their sound" according to who? The logic of Template:Infobox_musical_artist#genre is clearly against emo pop. We should adhere to some general standard in our treatment of infobox genres.--MASHAUNIX 12:18, 10 July 2017 (UTC)
- According to common sense, but I digress. I would also like to argue that if emo pop is notable enough for its own article, it should also be notable enough for infoboxes. Like I said though, I'm okay with the removal of emo pop. It's just that emo being removed instead would be my preference. Kokoro20 (talk) 01:45, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
- I agree with User:Kokoro20. Emo pop is notable enough for the infobox but I think the genres are fine the way they are. Including both emo and emo pop. Bowling is life (talk) 01:55, 11 July 2017 (UTC)

In the 2012-2015 subsection of the History section, the second paragraph contains the phrase "In March 2016, Davis embroiled in a legal battle with Paramore...". The word "embroiled" should be replaced with "was embroiled" since Davis is intended (I assume) to be the object of the verb, not the subject. Since the next sentence also uses the word embroiled, I suggest an alternative such as "was engaged". Exponentially tight (talk) 23:43, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- Partly done. "Embroiled" is a bit unencyclopedic anyway, so I just went with "involved" for both (was thinking you said that instead of "engaged", whoops). Fixed a couple other oddities there, but the whole paragraph is really awkward and confusingly written, in case anyone happens to see this and feels like taking another swing at it. –Deacon Vorbis (carbon • videos) 23:52, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
"Pop Punk Roots"
[edit]The section "2020-Present, Upcoming Sixth album" states that the band will be returning to their "Pop-punk roots". However, Hayley has stated that she never considered the band to be "pop-punk"and she has stated that her inspirations for the next album will be artists that the band grew up listened to, as found in this spotify playlist that she made: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3G7Yq0uYQ8AnDEZ17pXjJv
As you can see from this playlist, this includes artists such as Gorillaz, Jeff Buckley and Elliott Smith, who are/were not pop-punk artists, so I think this section needs re-wording. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Froodz98 (talk • contribs) 12:39, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
Removing Hayley Williams on the timeline for a period in 2015
[edit]She admitedly quit the band for a short while there and I think it would be good to show that in the timeline — Preceding unsigned comment added by 181.229.64.46 (talk) 14:03, 10 October 2020 (UTC)
- She briefly quit, but what would've happened if she hadn't rejoined? Would Williams have taken the Paramore name with her? Would the band have broken up? Would Taylor York have hired a new singer? It's unclear what would've happened. Kart2401real (talk) 18:08, 15 November 2020 (UTC)
Touring musicians on band's timeline
[edit]I would personally prefer to include touring musicians on the timeline to show where the band members' instrumental roles are currently vacant. It was done with List of Korn band members. It puts many musicians on the timeline, but I think it's useful. I would like to get some feedback. Kart2401real (talk) 15:58, 15 November 2020 (UTC)
- Maybe as R.E.M. and List of the Who band members.--Joey Camelaroche (talk) 18:02, 15 November 2020 (UTC)
I noted the touring musicians by giving them a special color bar to provide a guideline on which instruments are currently vacant with the band members. Would that work? Kart2401real (talk) 18:11, 15 November 2020 (UTC)
- To my knowledge, touring members aren't really supposed to be included in timelines – just because you see one or two pages that might do it, doesn't mean it's right. Listing them above the timeline with the other members should more than suffice. 4TheWynne (talk • contribs) 01:08, 16 November 2020 (UTC)
Paramore is an unusual case where a band's instrumental spots have been vacant for many years. Listing the touring members in a case like this seems useful. This isn't just a case of having a touring guitarist because the band has only one guitarist who overdubs in the studio. If that were the case, I don't think they should be on the timeline. But this is a case where touring session musicians are filling instrumental vacancies in the band. Kart2401real (talk) 01:24, 16 November 2020 (UTC)
Session musicians on upcoming sixth album
[edit]Touring bassist Joey Howard played bass on the majority of songs on Hayley Williams' solo album Petals for Armor. Is it likely he plays bass (and maybe guitar and/or keyboards) on the upcoming Paramore album? Has anything been announced? Kart2401real (talk) 18:36, 15 November 2020 (UTC)
Paramore band member article
[edit]Paramore had as many lineup changes as the Offspring. The Offspring has its own band member article, why can't Paramore have one too? Even Korn (with even fewer lineup changes) has a band member article. Why not Paramore? Kart2401real (talk) 17:06, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
- Kart2401real, first off, "__________ has one, so why can't __________?" isn't a valid argument. The Offspring has had more full-time members than Paramore, whereas Korn (with only one former member) doesn't even need a timeline, let alone a members subpage. Please refer to the following RfCs: Band member timelines and What number of line-up changes should constitute a separate "list of members" subpage?. Each band is treated on a case-by-case basis – you've been reverted by three different editors at this article (particularly around the inclusion of touring members in the timeline), so that should give you an indication as to how this band is being treated. Personally, I don't think that a members subpage is needed for this band, as it is essentially just duplicating a lot of the information in this article – I think that just listing the touring members here and having a timeline with only the full-time members would be best. 4TheWynne (talk • contribs) 00:40, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
- What should be done about Korn? I find it ridiculous that Korn has a subpage. I didn't even create the subpage for Korn. The Offspring only has had more official members in its history than Paramore if you count Manic Subsidal. As the Offspring, they went through the same amount of members, eight. One can argue that Manic Subsidal members Doug Thompson, Jim Benton, and Marcus Parrish were never members of the Offspring. Kart2401real (talk) 01:51, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
- Probably best to discuss those at their respective talk pages. 4TheWynne (talk • contribs) 01:58, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
- I will discuss the other bands at their respective talk pages. Are session musicians like Ilan Rubin and Justin Meldal-Johnsen even worth including in the band member section at all? They were basically one-off fill-ins in the studio who never toured with them. I created the band member page to list who played on what releases. The band member timeline alone is unclear about who played bass on All We Know Is Falling, which was actually recorded after Jeremy Davis first left but before John Hembree joined. I would like to ask others if a member page is appropriate. Kart2401real (talk) 03:55, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
EPs and live albums on timeline

Threaded discussion
[edit]- I believe there's enough reliable sources to discuss the lineup changes and recording history of band members. A member could potentially play on an EP, but not a full album. Jeremy Davis played on the first song recorded for All We Know Is Falling, but not the rest of the album, which was recorded after he first left, and before John Hembree joined. The lineup changes even created different lineups for different songs on the same album. I feel explanations could be necessary. Kart2401real (talk) 16:38, 2 December 2020 (UTC)

- It's on the official site of Silvertide. He's credited for playing bass on the liner notes too. Kart2401real Kart2401real (talk) 01:02, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
Album credit vandalism or mistakes?
[edit]A random editor is removing Taylor York's name from writing credits for All We Know Is Falling and Riot!. York is credited for a song on each album. It's in the liner notes. What should be done about this? Kart2401real (talk) 22:20, 5 December 2020 (UTC)
Upcoming 6th album
[edit]The upcoming 6th album section makes a claim that Hayley disputed on her twitter account. https://twitter.com/yelyahwilliams/status/1260000454144131072?s=20 A lot of publications ran with the story that Paramore would "return to their pop punk roots" for no reason. She said that they had been listening to older music, but didn't know what would happen with the 6th album until they went into the studio. Indigo903 (talk) 05:36, 24 December 2020 (UTC)

Request: Remove Novel American as Associated acts.
Associated acts Novel American is false. Novel American was a band that Josh Farro formed after leaving Paramore band although Zac Farro was playing drums for Novel American, he as well wasn't in Paramore band at that time. And they never did any co-writing nor collaboration with the band.
And the band has more genre than what it appears on the the list. TBcat (talk) 00:31, 21 October 2021 (UTC)
- Not done The band has two members in common (and they don't have to be current members of Paramore to qualify), so it does count as an associated act. As for the genres, if you were referring to Paramore, I think six genres is plenty. 4TheWynne (talk • contribs) 01:05, 21 October 2021 (UTC)
Separate timeline for touring musicians
[edit]Would it be appropriate to create a separate timeline to list the tenure of the touring musicians just like what was done for the timeline of the Doobie Brothers? Kart2401real (talk) 23:21, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
- No, it wouldn't. The Doobie Brothers have had more than triple the amount of touring members that Paramore has had – numbers like those might warrant a timeline/separate members page, but this certainly doesn't. 4TheWynne (talk • contribs) 02:10, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
Their 6th Studio Album is going to be titled "This is Why"
[edit]According to the description on Youtube of their new single "This is Why", that will be the Title track to their upcoming 6th Studio Album set to be released in February 2023. 190.83.245.132 (talk) 23:06, 27 September 2022 (UTC)
Add: legacy section
[edit]I strongly believe Paramore should have a legacy section after musical style and influences. Paramore has been integral for so many female fronted pop punk bands that came after them such as Pool Kids, We Are The In Crowd and Against the Current. They have also had a huge influence outside the rock world with Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo and Willow being heavily inspired by them. Hayley Williams also won a Billboard Trailblazers award for Paramore's impact on pop punk, emo and alternative music. Shapedia 101 (talk) 11:24, 30 March 2023 (UTC)

- Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. I do not see where Rollin Stone is used in the article. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 15:30, 19 April 2023 (UTC)

"No. 2 "Sexiest Female", by readers of the British magazine Kerrang!.[35]"
Add after the above line the following:
"Hayley was only 18 at the time and when asked by a reporter about how she felt about the ranking she stated "...It’s just weird and there’s not much I can really say about it..." [1] Williams has talked extensively about the mistreatment of young women in the music industry, telling another reporter years later, "Oh my God. I hope no young female experiences the shit that I experienced." [2] NotQualified (talk) 10:53, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
- Not done: requested edit takes source material out of context.
- Artisan News citation:
We caught up with Hayley who is seated with lead guitarist Josh Farro, during a break in the band’s busy touring schedule to get her thoughts on being named the 2nd most sexiest vocalist in rock.
“(Williams) “I don’t understand how I’m on a sexy list. I don’t think I’m sexy. I don’t know. I don’t know. It was definitely weird, especially being near the top of the list or at the top of the list behind Amy Lee. That was just ridiculous. I don’t know, no one really told me that was coming. They just said ‘Hey look. You’re in this magazine.’ And I open it and it’s like ‘Sexy #2!’ and I’m like ‘What?’ I don’t know. It’s just weird and there’s not much I can really say about it. I’m kind of shy. I just got real shy there.”
- The People citation doesn't say anything about the Hottest Female award. It talks about how in some contexts she was expected to be more masculine:
Our entire scene was contributing to s---ty treatment of women and anything that wasn't masculine. We were out on Warped Tour, this little Fueled by Ramen band acting like a hardcore band on stage." The "This Is Why" rocker explained that she felt compelled to act a certain way or risk seeing her career disappear, saying "it was like if I didn't spit further, I felt like someone was going to throw me out."
- and in other contexts expected to be more feminine:
Williams has been open about the "brutally misogynistic" conditions she faced while touring with Paramore in her teenage years, particularly on the now-defunct Warped Tour. In 2020, she told Vulture that she took great pains to "never be high maintenance," and recalled a time in which a photographer insisted that she wear lip balm at a photo shoot, despite not asking the same of her male bandmates.
- and, yes, being subject to sexual objectification (but again, not in the context of the Hottest Female award):
Williams also reflected on the 2006 tour, during which she had condoms thrown at her on stage (the tour was sponsored that year in part by Trojan), and the time a friend of a different band made a joke about her vagina, prompting laughter from others.
