Comment on notability by the draft's creator

[edit]

Thanks for the feedback. Since the first submission I have re-worked the article with more reliable, independent references and taken care to more definitively address the Wikipedia:Notability (people) guidelines including:

- As per notability guideline #3, which states that "people are more likely to be notable if ... The person has an entry in a country's standard national biographical dictionary" I can confirm the subject of this article is listed in the Australian Who's Who of business - In terms of presumed notability with regards to depth of significant coverage, the person: -- Has appeared in hundreds of news articles in his capacity as the Chairman of one of Australia's largest companies, 20 or so of those sources are cited here, including major international media outlets, such as the Wall Street Journal, CNBC and Fox News. -- Has had an entire episode of a prime time documentary television program about notable businesspeople dedicated to him -- Was the subject of a 13 minute in-depth interview on CNBC -- Was the subject of a major national newspaper feature article about his listing on the BRW rich list as the 10th wealthiest person in Australia -- Was the subject of a major metropolitan newspaper weekend magazine story on his purchase of a major island resort -- Was the subject of a major metropolitan newspaper weekend edition article on his listing as the 21st richest person in the state -- Was the feature in a major national newspaper's weekend edition on his business profile

These references are all cited.

Also just noting that I do NOT have a COI on this subject, I am just interested in increasing Wikipedia's coverage of notable business people from my region.

@Theronswanson:, Above you say you do not have a COI on this subject. However, it is strange to me that you would remove well-sourced information from the company page he is associated with and also fail to mention any of the negative things (only the positive things) he was involved with at the company on this draft. Any reason why?--CNMall41 (talk) 19:14, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There was a court case that had some media attention, but it was thrown out, so I wasn't removing old information as such, I was updating the record with the latest information Theronswanson (talk) 10:11, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! Theronswanson (talk) 10:37, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the response. The reason I am asking is becuase it would be common for someone with a COI to leave out anything that my bring a person into a negative light. I did not evaluate the information close enough to see if it deserves WEIGHT in the draft. However, just because something is thrown out doesn't mean that it wouldn't deserve inclusion. Let me just ask directly here. Do you have any connection to the subject of the draft that would fall under WP:COI?--CNMall41 (talk) 15:58, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've been pretty up front in including the subject's connection to Linc Energy, which was a controversial company with a lot of bad press at the time, so I wasn't trying to hide anything. I've also mentioned the court case in this article. And no, I don't have any connection that would fall under the COI guidelines. I just thought it was weird he didn't have a Wikipedia entry, as one of the best known Australian business people of the last decade. Theronswanson (talk) 08:22, 22 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
