Please note:
Pierre Yves Eberle was not just an Olympic participant in swimming. He is also a fighter jet pilot and senior officer in the Swiss Air Force. Both are part of his life, his story. Both are relevant to wikipedia. Both, Olympic swimmer and officer / pilot is documented with references.2A02:21B0:644C:DC7:991B:44DC:D337:C740 (talk) 22:11, 2 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You need secondary sources, and you need to stop edit warring. Lugnuts, am I forgetting something? And can you see if there's anything worth keeping in these edits? A mention of his military career is likely fine, but it also depends on the sources. Drmies (talk) 22:23, 2 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Drmies - apologies for not getting back sooner. Thanks for looking at this. At first, it looked like the initial edits were an article hijack scenario. When I look at this version, the issues I have are that source #1 doesn't work and sources 2 & 4 don't actually confirm that the subject is the same person. It's likely they are one and the same (I don't know how common a surname Eberle is in Switzerland), but there's nothing obvious to link the army career with the Olympic career. And the army career just looks like a poor CV in that last diff too. Thanks. LugnutsFire Walk with Me08:30, 3 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It is very very unlikely that there are TWO persons with the 3 same name (1) Pierre (2) Yves (3) Eberle, both grown up in Geneva. both born at the same day on 25. Februar 1968. Sorry but the swimmer and the officer / fighterjet Pilot are the same person. [1][2]193.5.216.100 (talk) 06:39, 8 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Unlikely, but possible. Do you have a source, say an interview, or a biography of him that show both? There must be something that states he was at the Olympics and in the Swiss Air Force above and beyond simply Google-searching his name. Thanks.
