Barry O'Farrell

[edit]

Just to clarify the current situation, as the news reports aren't always clear, O'Farrell has announced his intention to resign, but he will remain Premier until next week. The quote from O'Farrell was "As soon as I can organise a meeting of the parliamentary Liberal Party for next week, I will be resigning the position and enabling a new Liberal leader to be elected - someone who will then become the Premier of NSW".[1] Some sources are saying that he has resigned, especially in the headlines, but for our purposes he remains Premier for a bit longer. Interesting times for NSW. - Bilby (talk) 02:19, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Correct. If only we could all forget a $3000 bottle of vintage Grange and a letter of thanks. Timeshift (talk) 02:26, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Reference to Prime Ministers

[edit]

Should the second paragraph be re-worded? The contents of paragraph two are open to interpretation implying that the list of premiers on this list were Prime Ministers, and therefore, technically this means all the people listed prior to 1901 should be removed. Would it be best to indicate this is a list of Premiers, yet prior to Federation the term Prime Minister was interchangably used. If "Premier" has been used more or less exclusively used from 1901 was it no exclusive prior to 1901? --Bowralbaby Talk 10:11, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Bowralbaby: The paragraph presently says Prior to Federation in 1901 the term "Prime Minister of New South Wales" was also used. "Premier" has been used more or less exclusively from 1901, to avoid confusion with the federal Prime Minister of Australia.[1][2] It does not appear to be ambiguous to me. Has it been changed since you asked your question? If not, please suggest how you would like it changed. --Scott Davis Talk 10:58, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@ScottDavis: I suggest the following to make it a little clearer. Prior to Federation in 1901, the head of the government was commonly called the premier, however, the term "Prime Minister of New South Wales" was also used. "Premier" has been used more or less exclusively from 1901, to avoid confusion with the federal Prime Minister of Australia.[1][2] --Bowralbaby Talk 11:05, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
