Possible Applications

[edit]

Article needs a section on any potential technological applications (if any) for this state of magnetism, if it is proven to exist.

Implications

[edit]

Article ALSO needs a section on what this theory, if proven true, will say to us scientifically. What will it tell us (if anything) about magnetism, quantum states, or even the nature of the universe.

MIT has discovered what they believe to be an actual Quantum Spin Liquid, Herbertsmithite: Extreme Tech Article — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.106.61.238 (talk) 16:58, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I just came here after doing a literature review on frustrated magnets and think we need to be clear about what constitutes a discovery. The earliest detection of lack of long-range order was done with Cs2CuCl4 back in 2000 (Coldea et al.). But people in 2012 still didn't have an agreement as to whether the spin liquid has been discovered... My guess is that until physicists could match their experimental findings with a theory that successfully explains it, which happened in 2016 (Banerjee et al.), they were not 100% comfortable calling it a discovery. --D昌양 (Talk) 19:09, 22 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

lead

[edit]

I've got a degree in biology, but the lead stumps me. A few parenthetical comments to clarify what a permanent magnetic moment is, or even whether these substances are actual fluids would help. μηδείς (talk) 18:21, 21 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Does it look better now? Do you have any additional suggestions for readability? Thanks! SPat talk 03:45, 24 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
