While working on the Clan Macintyre page I found this name as a woman being the daughter of Olav the Red who was married too Somerled. Anyone know anything further about this or have info?

"Ragenilda of Tälje" - made-up name?

[edit]

I suspect that Woodzing made it up. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 10:00, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Personal slurs as usual from Kuiper, whose suspicions almost always are proven wrong, though it often takes time to do so. He hardly ever edits anything without getting personal and rude. One more of his insults added to my list. SergeWoodzing (talk) 18:40, 13 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Another personal insult by Kuiper as he removed "Ragenilda" from the article (rather than tryiung to reply to the valid question below re: her Latin name); his edit accusatory summary:
  • removing "Ragenilda" - SergeWoodzing had made it up
~ as if he knows that for a fact. Sad that Kuiper cannot do WP work without almost always getting personal and insulting other users. SergeWoodzing (talk) 00:08, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ragenilda

[edit]

{{help}} What was her name in Latin? If she was a Catholic saint I mean. Her actual name as a saint? Hardly Ragnhild. SergeWoodzing (talk) 18:40, 13 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Since I have now been insulted again - above - (by a user who has stalked and harassed me for years with such slurs), I am asking the community: does anyone know the answer to this question or how to find out? SergeWoodzing (talk) 00:12, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Please do not erase text written by other users in this talk page simply because they disagree with you. However insulting a comment may be, if it pertains to the content dispute rather than purely a personal attack, it should not be removed. Please see WP:TALKO.
  • For naming conventions please see Wikipedia:Article titles.

Article titles should be neither vulgar nor pedantic. The term most typically used in reliable sources is preferred to technically correct but rarer forms, whether the official name, the scientific name, the birth name, the original name or the trademarked name. Other encyclopedias may be helpful in deciding what titles are in an encyclopedic register as well as what name is most frequently used (see below).

  • If you think the subject is known better under a different name, please provide solid references proving thus before renaming. The best policy is to reach a consensus first before undertaking controversial actions like renaming. Unilateral actions like the previous move causes disputes to escalate needlessly.
  • Please follow the conventions of the Wikiproject in which scope this article falls under (Wikipedia:WikiProject Saints), as well as conventions given to Swedish saints in general. Swedish names are retained in most of the related articles. However difficult it may be to pronounce for English speakers, if she is better known under that name, it should not be changed arbitrarily. The latin name may actually be more obscure in certain cases. For other examples please see Ansgar, Saint Eskil, Bridget of Sweden, Sigfrid of Sweden, and Saint Ingamoder Emundsdotter of Sweden. Whatever the article title may be, the original name is mentioned in the lead paragraph and redirects should be made from other names by which the subject has historically been referred to.
  • Helpers can not help decide a content dispute, we can only help with editing problems. If you want more input from people more knowledgeable of the subject matter, again I recommend starting a discussion in the relevant Wikiproject this article falls under.--ObsidinSoul 09:00, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have not erased anything. - ??? -
This is not about article titles but about the removal of what I assume is her Latin name from the lede.
Thus, my help tag was removed without the question being addressed. SergeWoodzing (talk) 09:21, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ah. My mistake. Apologies for that. Crossed signals I guess (just woke up, heh).
  • Your question "What was her name in Latin? If she was a Catholic saint I mean. Her actual name as a saint? Hardly Ragnhild." makes it seem like you were asking for a name other than Ragnhild. If this was not the case, sorry for the confusion. Either way, we still can't help with content disputes/research. We can only help point you to places where the question could be answered. As suggested, try contacting the wikiproject this article falls under as they will be more knowledgeable about this.
  • Please see last bulleted entry in my previous comment, the use of the helpme template in this case is inappropriate. Please try an RFC instead. Or you can always ask from the Reference Desk. Thank you.--ObsidinSoul 10:45, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
