Fair use rationale for Image:Rhonacameron.jpg

[edit]

Image:Rhonacameron.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Potential copyvio

[edit]

There is an awful lot which seems to be a straight lift from the subject's own website, and as such is a copyright violation. I've found independent sources for one such sentence, and rewritten it in my words. --Redrose64 (talk) 21:27, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Rhona Cameron outing Sue Perkins...or perhaps not

[edit]

For years, I have been mildly irritated by statements such as "Rhona Cameron outed her ex-girlfriend Sue Perkins as a lesbian in 2002 during Cameron's appearance on ITV's I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!". This has been repeated in national newspapers so often (sometimes with the added suggestion that Sue was unhappy about the outing) that it is often taken as fact. But speaking personally, I am "sure" that I was aware of it "years" before I'm a Celeb... was aired in late August 2002. So I've finally got around to correcting it in Rhona Cameron#Personal life and Sue Perkins#Personal life.

But when I came to search the net for evidence, I found very little. There is a photo of them, looking very much a couple, and apparently happy to be seen as such, five months before the "outing"[1] (which I have used as a cite), and several "nod-nod-wink-wink-say-no-more" implications in what seems to be a somewhat catty and certainly unencyclopedic blog on 10 May 2000,[2] two years before; indeed the way the latter is written makes me wonder if its writer thought Sue might not yet be "out".

So in short, I have not found any reliable evidence, other than body language in a photo a mere five months before the "outing". Also, although those like me (based in London, with an interest in modern female comedy) knew that Sue Perkins was a lesbian much earlier, perhaps most of Sue's fans were unaware, and to them she would have been outed by Rhona's comments on I'm a Celeb... in late 2002.

So, my changes to the articles are somewhat lower-key than I initially intended, and even so I wonder if I should have left them untouched -- after all, no one else has seen fit to change the statements in the eight years since they were written. So in short, if anyone dislikes my changes, I would not be offended to be reverted (although please leave my minor changes earlier this evening, which disambiguated the wikilinks to the UK Series 1 I'm a celeb...).
