The reference for this addition: "The Zhōu Lǐ is the oldest known text mentioning the Six-Principles Theory (六書 liùshū) of Chinese character composition and usage, which is often incorrectly attributed to Xǔ Shěn's second century dictionary, the Shuōwén jiězì" is Qiu, p.151. Note also the name I'm using for the liu4shu1 is Qiu's carefully coined term "Six-Principles Theory". This is because the six are not categories of characters, since a character can belong to more than one category. Since some of the six are compositional principles and others are usage (e.g., phonetic loan) principles, Qiu's term is vastly superior. Qin used this book to explain his actions of ruling.Dragonbones 05:53, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

- I have no opinion on the age of the Zhou Li. I just put in some Chinese names, added links and fixed the English. Evangeline (talk) 00:16, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
