I Call BS
[edit]I think the George Gervin thing is total bullshit. There is no such thing as "Potts County Highschool" according to google, George Gervin never seems to have been associated with Bakersfield Highschool, and I highly doubt that the simple finger role technique made Swift a star or that blowing out your knee could really change your finger role that much.
Untitled Comment
[edit]One of the poorest written articles on Wikipedia, focusing on inane high school controversies no doubt written by a local student and also including this little gem: "His focus was working out in order to add weight to his thin frame (a la Jermaine O'Neal). Swift is the first honky (WTF?) player to ever make the jump to the NBA"
I did not modify that excerpt in anyway; the parenthesized comments are verbatim from the article. Yes, it actually currently reads "Swift is the first honky (WTF?)". Someone made of hardier stuff than I, please clean this up.
- Technically, he wasn't the first white player to make the jump from high school to the NBA. A handful of white players (Joe Graboski comes to mind) did it back in the 1940s. Zagalejo 19:02, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
- I'm just going to delete that part all together. I wanted to do it yesterday, but hesistated a bi as I was kinda curious to see if anyone else would do it first. It's really not noteworthy even if it were true. It's kinda like saying (random white guy) was the first Caucausion to climb (random mountain in Africa) even when a million people had already climbed it before him. The only reason the first black players in sports leagues are relevant are because of the history of racial discrimination in America. --Jakob Huneycutt 19:40, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
Clean-Up
[edit]I removed the clean-up tag since the article has been markedly cleaned up since the tag was applied in December. I'm not really sure if there's some sorta formal procedure for this, so if there is, someone just let me know. --Jakob Huneycutt 23:38, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
Problems everywhere
[edit]This page is completely messed up. Almost nothing on here is right. It has been heavily tampered with. If you find something on here that doesn't seem right, that's because it isn't. I have no desire to fix it though. Good luck to anybody that does. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Soy Milk Jim (talk • contribs) 07:22, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
"Former Sonic loses home to foreclosure, refuses to leave"
[edit]It is worth mentioning that in February 2013 it was reported that Swift has lost his Seattle home to foreclosure last summer but refused to leave. - Why is this worth mentioning? The whole "Legal problems" section contains no legal problems. Millions of people have had their places foreclosed. --MarsRover (talk) 19:51, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
- I'd be in favor of removing the section, since it's just intrusive, tabloid-style information. However, I'm sure someone else would put it right back. Zagalejo^^^ 03:07, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
- Well, I did just remove it, but we'll see what happens now. Zagalejo^^^ 03:45, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
- It IS a "legal problem", it WAS quite extensively reported in the public news, there IS more to it than a simple foreclosure, and "intrusive" or not it is relevant to this article. The story was reported by a non-tabloid newspaper, three network television stations, and ESPN. The information and sources fully qualify for inclusion by Wikipedia standards. =//= Johnny Squeaky 18:04, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
- For the record, the new owners aren't pursuing legal action, according to the video here: [1] Zagalejo^^^ 18:06, 10 March 2013 (UTC)
- Exactly, please Squeak, explain the Legal Problem contained in the Legal Problems section? If trimmed to the non-sensational facts (eg. don't really need to know his dog goes poop), it would simply say he had a foreclosure that made the news. --MarsRover (talk) 07:08, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
