Notability

[edit]

Is Mr Lackey really notable for anything other than HavenCo? If he's not, I would propose the merger of this article into that one. --kingboyk 01:14, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

@kingboyk: Yes, it was decided that he is. Did you bother to read the archive of the deletion vote right above your comment? Jgw 18:41, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Long long time ago but anyway: deletion "votes" aren't binding. I'm particularly sceptical when they're populated by non-AFD regulars. --kingboyk (talk) 13:03, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with you, but realistically, I don't think delete will win an AfD; too many news hits, too subtle of an argument. I think the better approach is to treat this article as WP:NPF and strip it down to exactly what makes the subject notable, and nothing more. --- tqbf 13:41, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to post as anonymous but I don't have an account. I came to this page because Ryan Lackey was co-featured in a Wired article called Blood, Bullets, Bombs, and Bandwidth. I remembered hearing about him from HavenCo. so I came here to mention the article. 71.229.22.54 16:22, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Did it provide biographical info? --kingboyk (talk) 13:03, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Residence

[edit]

Lackey "has also lived in Southern California, Ohio, Oakland, Boston, Anguilla, London, Amsterdam, Sealand, Dubai, and Iraq." That list ranges from the specific to the totally vague. To my knowledge, there's only one Boston and we can assume which London and Amsterdam we're talking about. "Southern California" and "Ohio," on the other hand, are fairly broad areas of the USA. And I'm reasonably sure that it was Oakland, California where Lackey lived (home of C2Net) there are several Oaklands in the USA and some in Canada.

(not editing this because I'm not sure how to find a citation...also not really sure how the US places are relevant to anything...Sealand, Iraq, UAE and maybe UK/NL I can see)

Yes, Oakland, CA. Also San Francisco, CA. (it's Boston. MA; there are actually several other Bostons, including in the UK). Southern California was Orange County, specifically Laguna Niguel; Ohio was Cambridge, OH (about 1h east of Columbus).

There's also Ras Al Khaimah, UAE (about 1 hour north of Dubai). Ryan 10:03, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
