Several sources are autobigraphical[edit]

Information to be added or removed:In July 2012 McMahon was included in the New Faces of the Just For Laughs festival in Montreal. He has worked in both Canada and the United States as a comedian. One of his comedic personae was Clarence Two Toes, "a Half Ojibway-Half Metis guy that struggles everyday on whether to listen to the 'brown guy' or the 'not quite brown guy' that lives in his head. Clarence Two Toes was featured on McMahon's 2011 album, Live in Red Lake, which he made available on Bandcamp on a pay-what-you-want basis.[2] In 2012 he became the first Indigenous comedian to record a one-hour comedy special, UnReserved, for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.[3] "Chapter 2: Clowns". www.canadalandshow.com. Many other references are just shallow reviews and do not state that any of this work is significant.

Explanation of issue: References written by oneself should not be used. Individuals may prize their own work, but this does not mean they are worthy of a biography on Wikipedia. This reads like self-promotion. Some of the tone sound purely like marketing. It may have been written by a friend or by the individual them-self for promotional reasons.

References supporting change: Add references to any awards, or proof that the individual is noteworthy. Writings by an individual promoting them-self do not make a person noteworthy. Comedians and pod-casters are a dime a dozen. Not everyone is due a page on Wikipedia. Has this work had any impact? Offer evidence beyond what the individual writes about themselves, or low-level reviews that don't say anything significant about the work. Does not meet criteria for notability and issues with POV[edit]

Please review and explain how the individual meets criteria for notability.I tried to search for articles where someone noted the significance of his work but was not able to find any. Many of the existing references on the page are autobiographical, or links to interviews where the subject makes claims about himself (ie "In 2017 he publicly refused to attend celebrations of Canada's sesquicentennial." This is a claim made by the subject about himself, and while he may consider it personally significant, there is no evidence his personal choice had any more impact than the decision of many others who also boycotted the event and is therefore not notable.)

Some of the references contradict claims of notability in the article; under activism he is referred to as a "celebrity," but in discussing his podcast he has only 10,000 listeners which is hardly a significant audience, or indicative of 'celebrity' status.

Suggest deleting the section on activism if there is no evidence of activism beyond tweets and a few articles. Notable activists would be persons like Nelson Mandela or Martin Luther King jr, or Harold Cardinal. This section also uses very self-promotional and loaded language that remains unproven The individual may be popular or have a following but it is no way clear he is a "celebrity" or that being retweeted means he is "a powerful cultural influencer."

Biography should not be reliant on autobiography, or self-promotional claims. Most of the citations on this page were written by the subject about himself, are interviews in which the subject makes claims about himself, or merely links to his company or pages created by himself ie the link to his autobiography on his company page and his Youtube channel. This wiki therefore reads like a self-promotional page. It requires multiple fixes and it should follow Wikipedia's standards or Notability of Creative professionals which I have pasted below.

The person is regarded as an important figure or is *widely cited* by *peers or successors*. The person is known for originating a significant new concept, theory, or technique. The person has created or played a major role in co-creating a significant or well-known work or collective body of work. In addition, such work must have been the primary subject of an independent and *notable work* (for example, a book, film, or television series, but usually *not a single episode of a television series*) or of *multiple* *independent* periodical articles or reviews. The person's work (or works) has: (a) become a significant monument, (b) been a substantial part of a *significant* exhibition, (c) won *significant* critical attention, or (d) been represented within the permanent collections of *several notable* galleries or museums.

Again in fulfilling the above criteria the source should not be the subject making claims about himself. Please try to fix by finding academic or other significant reviews of his work (not merely mentions of his name or quotes from him in a piece) that seriously review his body of work and demonstrate a significant contribution Simply being published, or owning a business is not enough. You may find it helpful to compare to the wiki page about Alanis Obomsawin's, where her body of work is recognized by a variety of professional sources for its excellence and valuable contributions, as well as the demonstrated public recognition of her work which combine to make her notable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hilary 8006 (talk • contribs) 11:20, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Did not play hockey at U of Minnesota nor was on a full hockey scholarship.[edit]

Citation does not prove that he played nor was on a hockey scholarship. Plenty of hockey databases would show that he had. On top of that, I know Ryan. He is a great guy, but didn't play hockey for the U of MN Golden Gophers. 97.64.78.4 (talk) 19:13, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
