This is getting ridiculous

[edit]

This is getting ridiculous. Two (?) WP:COI editors keep adding poorly referenced and largely irrelevant stuff here. Ballesh is a musician. What musicians do is play music; they perform at concerts, take part in recording sessions. I do it myself, it's no big deal. There is no possible justification for trying to list every bit of music and every gig this person has ever played. It isn't notable, and it most definitely isn't interesting. How would it be if we started trying to do the same for Jasraj, or Bhimsen Joshi, or Miles Davis, or Gangubai Hangal, or Lata Mangeshkar, people with literally thousands of well-documented concerts and recordings?

Those two editors have been asked many times to use this page to propose changes to the article, and have to date ignored those requests. I'd like to suggest that we reach a consensus here on what the text is to be, and then adopt a zero-tolerance policy of instant reversion of further undiscussed changes made by the COI editors. An alternative is to seek administrator action, which I am reluctant to do.

As a basis for discussion, I propose reverting to this version, not because it's the last version I edited (which it is), but because nothing added since has improved the article. Any comment, Shiva2586, KrishnaBallesh, PaintedCarpet, Ruby Murray? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 14:16, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The page could be locked, but I think that is a drastic move. I think reverting to the version you suggested would be okay. My frustration has been trying to keep the copy free from errors, which seem to be coming in with every new edit. PaintedCarpet (talk) 16:50, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for you reply, that is a step forward. Unfortunately almost everything you say makes things worse:
  • You are not supposed to edit as a group here, editors should be individuals, and have one account each
  • Krishnaballesh, you may not normally use the real name of a living person as your username, as that can seem to be WP:Impersonation (I've reported this)
  • You have a clear conflict of interest, so are strongly discouraged from editing the article (that means, please DO NOT edit the article), but can always suggest improvements by posting here, on this page. Apart from the conflict of interest, you do not yet have the experience to format stuff correctly, and introduce mistakes with almost every edit.
Please confirm that you understand these points. And please sign your talkpage posts, like this: ~~~~. Thanks, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 19:22, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppetry

[edit]

It's pretty obvious that the following accounts, which have edited this article heavily, are all sockpuppets of serial puppeteer Krishnaballesh:

  • User:Swarji
  • User:Om1958
  • User:Taani1990
  • User:Riya2020 (blocked, no puppeteer named)
  • User:Painly (blocked, no puppeteer named)
  • User:Subamini (blocked, no puppeteer named)
  • User:Soonuu
  • User:Shaaroo

The first three listed above are inactive. User:Soonuu makes some incoherent claims at User talk:Shaaroo about that being his wife's account, but is still posting new requests (with pings at me) to User talk:Shaaroo. Shaaroo hasn't actually edited since April.

All of the accounts' edits have been promotional for S. Ballesh and his son Krishna Ballesh, with pretty much identically awful writing. The edit history is so complicated that I'm reluctant to take it to a sockpuppet investigation, but other editors might want to have a go. Storchy (talk) 12:50, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
