The result of the move request was: Move article to new name - there is compelling evidence that a name change has taken place; in particular, the IIHF, the RIHF and the official website of the club all give the new name, not the old. SC Miercurea Ciuc → HSC Csíkszereda – The club is listed as HSC Csíkszereda both by the International Ice Hockey Federation and the Romanian Ice Hockey Federation in their respective competitions. Oppose - Every major Romanian newspaper refers to them as "SC Miercurea Ciuc", and while I acknowledge the truth of Thehoboclown's evidence, I think this is a more relevant metric. - Comment – The club have been officially renamed to Hoki Sport Club Csíkszereda in 2010, adopted a new logo and colors, so completely changed and reformed. Considering the bilingualism in the area, Hungarian language papers use the "HSC Csíkszereda" form consistently. Taking the worldwide English language sources, pointstreak, the official data provider of the NHL, lists the club as HSC Csíkszereda, and so does the International Ice Hockey Federation, the main governing body of the sport, as listed above. -- Thehoboclown (talk) 12:58, 28 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

As the first paragraph of the article, linked above as well, says: "Revolutionary reforms are going on by the most popular and most successcful icehockey club in Szeklerland, the Csíkszeredai Sportclub. The team will compete under the name Hoki Sport Club Csíkszereda in the future and black will be added to the club colors beside blue and white, and the name of the team will be present in the logo also in Hungarian."

Here it says "Under the name Hoki Sport Club Csíkszereda, in blue-white-black colors can go the SC into the new season, and the name of the team will be present in the club crest in Hungarian as well. This rumour was confirmed to our blog by Róbert Ráduly, the hockey-lover mayor of Csíkszereda, but told, the administrative works are not over yet." [Hoki Sport Club Csíkszereda néven, kék-fehér-fekete színekben indulhat az új szezonban az SC, a csapat neve a címerben is magyarul szerepel majd. Oppose for now. This is part of a deliberate re-badging on the part of the club. The only question for us here is: What do people currently call the club, in English? I recommend patience in deciding this. It's an unpredictable situation, with strong feelings inevitable on the part of followers of the club, and that's one of the reasons we don't automatically follow changes in official names. - Comment: Taking English language sources, the International Ice Hockey Federation listed last year the club as SC Miercurea Ciuc, but following the name change this season they already use the HSC Csikszereda form. Eurohockey lists them as HSC Csíkszereda, with mentioning the old name in brackets. In their news in last year the club was also named as SC Miercurea Ciuc, however, starting from 2011 they are consistently called HSC Csíkszereda. See here, here and here. HSC Csíkszereda → SC Miercurea Ciuc – - Simple google search states an overwhelming results of

134 000[1] VS 84,200[2] in favor of the SC Miercurea Ciuc name.

In the 37,900 reslults that support the current name is listed between them the name I am suggesting to be renamed to. As another fact, this club participates in the Romanian league and as such it is registered under the name Sport Club Miercurea Ciuc [3],[4], even foreign pages use this name [5] - Eurohockey page. As there can be notices from previous discussion there are arguments for both versions but I think google search is more than convincing. Adrian (talk) 14:06, 9 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose — Actually, as can be read above, the name of the club has been officially changed. While IIHF used the old name for the 2010–2011 season, since this year they consequently use the new name ([6], [7]). Also, the official website of the club use the HSC Csíkszereda name, and major stats sites like pointstreak (which is the official supplier of the league as can be seen for example here) and eliteprospects use this name. Regarding the Eurohockey site, it has to be pointed out that the site not only use the old name of the club but also the old logo, which indicates that they don't really keep it up to date. One of the linked sites is the website of the biathlon federation, which has no connection and has nothing to do with the icehockey team. Checking out the official website of the Romanian Ice Hockey Federation, it seems that the list of clubs have not been updated since at least 2009, as HC Csíkszereda (not to confused with HSC) is ceased its operation in May 2009 but they are still listed there. (Interestingly the list of the champions is only updated to 2009 as well). In truth, the club appears as HSC Csíkszereda in all over the ice hockey federation's website, be it the ranking table or scores, and they refer to the club as HSC Csíkszereda in every single news: [8],[9], [10], [11], [12]. What probably tells the most is an official announcement by the federation, in which the HSC Csíkszereda name is used. Concerning the discrepancy between the g hits, it has to be noted that the old name has been in use for a long time, while the actual name is used only since a year, therefore it must included a lot of hits from before the name change. – Thehoboclown (talk) 19:40, 9 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
