Looks like things are moving: [1]kwami (talk) 00:32, 17 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Man Mexico can be complex. My reading of this is that it clarifies that 1) registrars will not be prosecuted if they allow people who have obtained an amparo to marry, 2) they are looking for clarification if that will satisfy the judge (and they think it will) if the code is not changed to allow more legislative time, 3) State Commission of Human Rights' position is that legislation must be changed. Thanks for the piece @Kwamikagami: my schedule is crazy today, but if I can get back to it, I will see if I can find anything else to shed some light. SusunW (talk) 20:16, 17 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Kwamikagami: I found two additional pieces. Both seem to indicate that the only way one can marry in Michoacán is via injunction. One says Congress has agreed to act, the other says Congress has not acted. One says the judge will probably waive the fines if they allow people who have amparo's to marry, the other says if legislation does not change they will face fines, removal of the head of the senate and possibility of removal of the governor. Opposite sides of a coin. Only thing we know for sure is the present situation is that an amparo is required. Will keep watching. SusunW (talk) 13:24, 18 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
