Fair use rationale for Image:Sandi dubowski.jpg

[edit]

Image:Sandi dubowski.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Why that kind of infobox? ("infobox scientist")?

[edit]

OK, this person may be a scientist. But, as it says right in the infobox, "Known for: Gay rights films". Isn't there a kind of infobox that is for film makers? Or for those persons in the movie community who are directors, producers, writers, etc.? "Infobox scientist" might not be the best choice for this article.

The infobox was just added recently to this article, via what appears to be the most recent edit (other than a "bot" edit) to the article. That is, the most recent edit by a person.

If there actually was a specific reason (circa 04:58, 18 April 2009) why the editor (IP=124.170.11.94) that day (diff) thought that "infobox scientist" was better than the other choices, then this would be a good place for someone (such as that editor) to respond, and to discuss that. Maybe explain the reason why it should be "infobox scientist".

Examples:

[edit]
  • the article Steven Spielberg has an Infobox Actor, even though the "occupation" field says:
<< "| occupation = film director, producer, screenwriter " >>.

So -- from those 2 "examples", at least, it sounds like {{Infobox Actor}} is often used for someone who actually tends to be more of [or even, primarily] a director.

Perhaps the person who inserted the infobox, was not aware of the variety of other "kinds" of infoboxes that could be used instead? If so, then no problem, we can fix that ("editing while you wait").

So -- (in that case) -- does anyone have any suggestions, for what kind of infobox, might be best for this article? How about Infobox Actor?

Any comments? --Mike Schwartz (talk) 22:21, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I probably should have included a link to this: Wikipedia:WikiProject_Biography/Infoboxes (if I had known about it, before now). --Mike Schwartz (talk) 07:13, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
