The article reports that Sidney Paget was commissioned to illustrate The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by accident, as the letter from The Strand Magazine was intended for his brother Walter Paget and was opened by Sidney in error. The article does not contain a citation for this claim, but it is widely reported and citations could certainly be added. However, in an article in the Summer 2019 issue of the Baker Street Journal (unfortunately not available online), the author points out that this story was not told contemporaneously and, based on all the available evidence, seems (at least to him) to be unlikely to be true. I am not adding this assertion to our article because (1) as a new analysis it could be considered original research by our standards, and (2) I have a COI, as I wrote the BSJ article. However, I do think it would at least be worth adding some caveat to the assertion as it now appears. Thanks for your consideration. Newyorkbrad (talk) 09:20, 30 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
