Oldest Cat Ever![edit]

My God, this cat was old! She lived to be well over twenty, whereas most cats don't live past fifteen. Zadduel86 (talk) 02:25, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Meme cat[edit]

There's another cat called Smudge that features in a meme, should this be mentioned in some way to avoid confusion? SonnikuSan (talk) 18:24, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There's no article for the other Smudge, so you can't really do a disambig... There's a short explanation of the meme at List_of_Internet_phenomena#Images and that's it 162.208.171.22 (talk) 06:20, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Just reverted a hatnote attempt, there's still no good target for it... Woman yelling at a cat maybe? 162.208.168.92 (talk) 05:28, 28 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Tried a different hatnote and was instantly reverted. I feel like it should be there somehow as it is the top Google result and has clearly shown to be confusing to readers. Woman yelling at a cat is still not a good target as of right now since it mentions only Taylor Armstrong and Kyle Richardson by name, but not Smudge. Thoughts welcome. 162.208.168.92 (talk) 21:11, 6 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Smudge (cat)Smudge (People's Palace cat) – Per WP:PDAB, since we already have Smudge (Blue Peter cat), this one should be disambiguated too. 162.208.168.92 (talk) 03:32, 9 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. Smudge (Blue Peter cat) is not an article; it's a little-used redirect. At least 96% of readers want this cat.[1] - Station1 (talk) 05:12, 9 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I believe that a good amount of people are actually looking for Woman yelling at a cat (pageviews) and that the People's Palace cat is not the primary topic. Smudge (cat) should therefore be a disambiguation. 162.208.168.92 (talk) 05:22, 9 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Woman yelling at a cat would not be titled "Smudge", and there's already a hatnote pointing there, so even assuming without evidence that a good number of people already know the name of the cat the woman is yelling at and are looking for that article, those readers would be no better off with a dab page than they are with the hatnote. Station1 (talk) 05:50, 9 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The idea behind this request is that Smudge (cat) is an ambiguous title. Per WP:PDAB and the Thriller rule, it should not be used as the article title unless it is, hands down, the only thing one might reasonably think of when you say "Smudge (cat)". Smudge (meme cat) has had major press coverage (from Time and the CBC, just to name two) and eclipses the People's Palace cat in a Google test. This is, of course, partially because of recentism, but the fact remains that the People's Palace cat cannot be considered the only Smudge (cat), and thus must be disambiguated. 162.208.168.92 (talk) 15:03, 9 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
But it's not an ambiguous title. There is no other article titled "Smudge (Blue Peter cat)" or "Smudge (meme cat)". Station1 (talk) 02:53, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom, as the meme cat (featured in "Woman yelling at a cat") also exists. There's three cats with this name with articles/sections/redirects on Wikipedia. Paintspot Infez (talk) 18:43, 9 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
