"South's oldest rivalry" isn't
[edit]Can anyone explain why this game is called the "South's oldest rivalry", when the "Deep South's oldest rivalry" (UGA-AU) is 8 months older?Bravenav 03:59, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Interlocking NC Blue.gif
[edit]Image:Interlocking NC Blue.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 08:00, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Discrepancy on both Total Games Played and Series History
[edit]In reviewing this article, there is a discrepancy between the Wikipedia numbers and those listed on UVA's pre-game media notes. The following is taken from those notes:[1] • North Carolina holds a 56-51-4 advantage in the all-time series that dates back two centuries to 1892. You may notice a difference in the series record between the two schools due to the game in 1956 that North Carolina forfeited for using an ineligible player.
Whereas the Wiki numbers claimed 111, the 2007 contest was the 112th edition of the game per the media notes. Also, the Wiki-listed series numbers favor UVA whereas the media notes say UNC leads. Just would like to get these numbers cleared up for ongoing accuracy.
Also confirmed this was the 112th meeting through UNC's media notes.[2] Scott930 03:55, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
I see someone updated the main article with the missing games and new record. THANKS!! Scott930 08:53, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
Sewanee v. Rhodes
[edit]I have seen this rivalry reported to be the oldest, continuously played rivalry in the South. SI covered it as such in the mid or late 90's. Anyone have anything on this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.185.6.245 (talk) 19:07, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Requested move
[edit]...back to South's Oldest Rivalry.
I'm not sure who moved this page, but this is the proper name of this rivalry and game. The disambiguation page could remain but should be South's Oldest Rivalry (disambiguation). The "Deep South's Oldest Rivalry" goes by that exact title, with the "Deep" in it. The other game promoted as the "South's Oldest Rivalry" here is not given that proper name by any media but in a single reference in promotional materials of one of the schools actually participating in the game. Probably 99% or more of media mentions of "South's Oldest Rivalry" without "Deep" in it refer to one game only, the others are obscure usages of what has been for many years the proper (capitalized) term for the UNC-Virginia game. - Support South's Oldest Rivalry is a proper name of only this particular game. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Somtum82 (talk • contribs) 21:41, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
