The result of the move request was: no consensus. See nothing in the page history nor move logs that would indicate that this article has had any title other than the present title, which appears to have been stable for more than eleven years. As is usual with a no-consensus outcome, editors may continue to attempt to garner consensus to find the highest and best name for this article. Gentle reminder for future debate is that reliable sources are your friends. Happy Publishing! (closed by page mover) Paine Ellsworthput'r there04:06, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I can understand a "historical viewpoint" (as with other publications I listed) but this does not address the policy issue (which the banner requests). Also, the current usage in the article shows that "The Register" is used 16 times in the article (plus 8 references) vs. "South Australian Register" 3 times (plus 5 references). Technically, the final name of the publication was Register News-Pictorial, but I have not seen that used as a common name (hence The Register - which is also used by the State Library for the overall publication). In terms of background, the article was created conceptually as "The Register" on 19 Nov. 2006 in terms of the newspaper's common name as used since 2006 in the lead and main paragraphs (i.e. entire revision history). Similarly, "Register" is also a common term that is used generically and interchangeably (AFAIK) for most/all manifestations the publication (as per the library eg. cited above), since the word Register exists across all titles. Another usage eg. is here. JabberJaw(talk)04:43, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
