The article states that Steve Martin is a member of Mensa. I know that Martin has written humorous pieces on Mensa, but I can't actually confirm that he is a member. Does anyone know anything about this? My suspicions are aroused because that person who added the mensa ref to this article also claimed that Jodie Foster and Sharon Stone were members, and that does not appear to be the case. func(talk) 20:00, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- I can't find any evidence that he really is a member on the Internet. They do not claim him on their 'famous member' page. I'll see if I can get the information from Mensa. Catbar (Brian Rock) 01:12, 24 May 2005 (UTC)
- No reply from Mensa. I didn't really expect one, but I tried. Catbar (Brian Rock) 04:43, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I am a member of American Mensa and checked the member listing directory (Mensa requires that you allow your name to be published), and while there is a Steven Martin listed as a member, it doesn't appear to be the comedian. This merely means he isn't a current member. It's possible he was a member and let his membership lapse. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.186.244.73 (talk) 06:35, 10 December 2005 (UTC)
In The Man With 2 Brains, can anyone tell me about the song that Miss Uhuh... was singing, something like "I like-a you and you like-a me..."? It often goes through my head and I've tried a bit of googling and haven't satisfied my curiosity! thanks Paulc1001 12:09, 12 October 2005 (UTC)

Is it worth adding the bit about when Dennis Pennis (see Paul Kaye) asked Martin 'why aren't you funny anymore?' that he cancelled he all subsuquent press interviews? Saccerzd 15:39, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
Cheaper by the Dozen 3
I'm removing this from the Filmography section (again). The movie does not exist and there are no plans for it being made. Also the Wiki page for Cheaper by the Dozen 3 was recently deleted as it was a clear violation of Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. --Mothh 05:03, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Recent wedding sourced
I rewrote part of the article, adding Ricky Jay in the list of friends invited to the wedding because Jay and Martin are very close friends as per David Mamet and the two have performed together several times. I have also sourced the bit about Martin marrying Anne Stringfield. Tabascoman77 17:12, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
I read somewhere that Martin got tinnitus (permanent ringing in ears) when he did the movie Three Amigos in 1986. Should that be mentioned (with a citation) in the article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.202.82.105 (talk) 13:35, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Watch out, Colbert interviewed him tonight. Said he was a juggler and should update his Wikipedia page. At least one edit for that before midnight, any takers? The Clawed One (talk) 04:52, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hm, happened as I posted that. Cute. The Clawed One (talk) 04:52, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
- I saw that the entry of juggler was reverted by Jon513, with the reasoning that an 'extemporaneous reference' was not sufficient. Please reinsert it (I haven't done editing in a couple of years and don't wish to make a fuss to do so).
- Here are some references: First, the episode of the Colbert Report itself as a reference, as it shows a clip from Mr. Martin's recent movie (Pink Panther) in which he juggles. Full episode Feb 5th, 2009 Second, Mr. Martin is a well known juggler, best known for his 'cat juggling' routine. This even appeared on the Muppet Show. Episode 208 Third, Mr. Martin included juggling as a key part of his act that launched his career. Steve Martin.com Finally, Mr. Martin is an extremely multi-talented person. It would be respectful to give the guy the benefit of the doubt about a skill that he publicly claims.ghost (talk) 13:28, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
- he also infamously juggles as an advanced sobriety test in "The Man With Two Brains"--20:09, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
Why do people keep saying he's a juggler?
Okay, maybe he can juggle, and he has incorporated it into his act. But he's not a juggler by trade. Am I wrong? Belasted (talk) 03:35, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
Are you wrong? Yes. Watch the links that I provided earlier. And, I must say, I resent those that have removed the references to him juggling. Although I rarely post now, folks used to be be considerate enough to follow the evidence once someone had bothered to provide it. Mr. Martin is a juggler in the same tradition that Marcel Marceau can claim the title of "Clown". Sure, Mr. Marceau was a Mime first, as Mr. Martin is a comedian first. They are/were both clowns because they made people smile at their own expense. They entertained. Give Mr. Martin the benefit of the doubt.
I've already fixed it once myself and been reverted. I leave it to the rest of the Wiki-community to fix it. Please. ghost (talk) 02:24, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
Former comedian, writer, playwright, producer, musician, and composer
Why does the first line of his page say "former comedian, writer, playwright, producer, musician, and composer"? Seems silly. He may not have written a play in the last couple of days, but does that make him a "former playwright"? After 2011 when his next movie comes out (according to the filmography) should this article update to say that he is a former actor? I think not. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.48.64.41 (talk) 15:42, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

Grey/gray hair
Does anybody know why Steve's hair turned silver at such an early age? --Savethemooses 01:56, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
- I'm curious about this too. It's the reason I came to read his article. Throw 06:19, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
It just happens to some people. Genetic. I believe its a function of low melanin production in the hair follicles. Eye color can function the same way, you can have brown-eyed parents who themselves had brown-eyed parents producing a blue-eyed child if the gene(s) that determine melanin production in the eyes are "turned off." I don't look like Steve Martin, but I went grey pretty early. Even in high school, I had some grey hair! I'm 40 now, but at least I have a full head of hair even if its grey! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 169.253.4.21 (talk) 13:40, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, like that guy who did American Idol (I think Taylor Hicks was his name), he had the same thing going on. A little bit of premature greying though, I can't find a reputable source or anything that we could cite it with, so there might be some trouble adding it.Comatmebro ~Come at me~ 20:17, 14 February 2013 (UTC)
- I also came to the article for this reason and found it strange that there was no mention. It's a notable thing about him. Salopian (talk) 13:26, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

That info has not been given at this time -- I guess because the parents don't want it revealed. It's not important. I'm happy for him though. --Musdan77 (talk) 23:36, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

"Too many errors"
In response to Martin's comment that this WP article has "Too many errors", I would encourage him to flag them on this talk page so we can change them. Most of the article is pretty well sourced and cross referenced with various biographies. A concerted effort has been made to be accurate and monitor the writing to keep it so. This is a stable, low edit-traffic article with nearly 200 registered monitors. I can assure him that the mistakes will probably stay in unless we know where they are. Anna (talk) 18:23, 28 March 2014 (UTC)
- I think this was more of a throwaway comment than a careful conclusion. I think Martin was telling his followers that he was not prepared to tackle the problem of a Wikipedia subject working on his own biography. Martin must be aware that the downside of him being accused of working on his own article may be worse than the upside of a slightly improved biography. Binksternet (talk) 19:20, 28 March 2014 (UTC)
- Well, there is a chance he may read the talk page. I would hope he would work on his own biography - via the talk page or OTRS. The guidelines happily support this. Anna (talk) 23:12, 28 March 2014 (UTC)

The Steve Martin Mull Show!
Oddly missing from this article , is time Steve spent writing and performing with actor , musician , comedian , Martin Mull. They toured as "The Steve Martin Mull Show" on college campuses , in the 70s. ( I don't have an exact timeline. ). The two also wrote some songs together , such as the sea chanty "Men" (appearing on Mull's "I'm Everyone That I Have Ever Loved" album. ) , and the western tinged "Westward Ho!" ( appearing on Mull's "Sex and Violins" album. ) 75.104.163.77 (talk) 15:50, 3 November 2017 (UTC)

He hasn’t been in a lot of movies in the last several years so I think we should say he retired from acting. Also add this to Mike Myers because he retired too. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.246.72.72 (talk) 20:58, 6 April 2019 (UTC)
