What a shitty waste of hard drive and bandwith. Need to delete these bands. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 147.144.3.239 (talk) 22:33, 17 December 2012 (UTC)
For future reference, if the Suicide Silence article is in danger of deletion, contact me. This band is "worthy" of being on Wikipedia as much as any other band on here. At least this page has a decent amount of information, in comparison to other deathcore bands. -Cheers, ARandomHeretic 02:29, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Heretic, this article does not cite a single independent article. It's not about the amount of information (trivial or not), it's about the evidence for that information. Drmies (talk) 02:49, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
There is a citiation I believe #21 regarding SS appearance on the Altc Lansing stage for Warped Tour that was credited to Becky Gold, Hollywood Music Magazine. Becky Gold was only the photographer for that HMM article. The article was written by Scott Schoenkopf (aka Scotty2Hotty). I know this because I am Scott! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.8.39.195 (talk) 22:31, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
Citation
"The album debuted at #94 on the Billboard Top 200, selling 7,250 copies the first week, and became the highest selling artist debut in Century Media history." Can we get a citation for that? It doesn't sound realistic. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.72.199.25 (talk) 00:59, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
- It can be very much possibly true, Suicide Silence won two awards just this past year and are constantly praised by the right people (such as allmusic and Revolver... ect) who see them as a band with talent and have enough influences to be something very different, as far as I agree with them, I believe that that statement could be true. I'll try to find a source for it. — GunMetal Angel 22:37, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

can somebody please add link to hr.wiki: hr:Suicide Silence, tnx :) --93.138.7.82 (talk) 15:23, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

I am part of Suicide Silence's Management Team
A couple things need to be changed:
- They are not on Epitaph records and never have been. Check their facebook and/or myspace and you won't see Epitaph. Wiki might have pulled this form an old fan page on Facebook before I made them their official page.
- Please take out the section regarding Suicide Silence getting "kicked off the Megadeth tour." This has been exaggerated far beyond what actually occurred and should not effect the reputation of the band. The quotes from members and management should not be included in their article as well. Most were posted in a rage of anger and have been apologized for to Dave Mustaine AND Suicide Silence fans.
Thank you Ricochet Management Jossps (talk) 03:21, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
- I've removed the mention of "Epitaph" (and in the template); there was no source to support the fact. Chzz ► 03:40, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
- I've removed the info on the "Megadeth incident"; I tried to find some reliable sources to give at least some information, but I could not; I do not think that the existing sources were appropriate, so per WP:GRAPEVINE, I have removed the information for now. Note, this does not mean that it could not be added back, if someone were to provide good verification, and taking into account the need for balance. Chzz ► 04:07, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
- (Just noting here; I will enquire with the user re. group accounts on their talk page. Chzz ► 04:09, 16 March 2010 (UTC))
Bass player
suicide silence has 5 members and where is the bass player in the members section? (Seth4000 (talk) 15:25, 16 March 2009 (UTC)) Seth4000
- At the time there was no official bassist as the band was in a transitional period. Mike Bodkins had left the band and Suicide Silence was touring with the new bassist, Dan Kenny. Though, Kenny was not technically in the band as of yet. --ARandomHeretic (talk) 21:23, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
- Mike Bodkins didn't leave, he was fired from the band. The members didn't like his jackass attitude. • GunMetal Angel 06:38, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
New album
I saw these guys twice this month and at both of the concerts they said the new album will be titled The Black Crown. This is the most recent information so far that I've gathered for their new record and well, other than that, there was info in Revolver and Alternative Press about 2 months ago or so stating that the album's first recording sessions took place in Big Bear, California. It should be due out by the summer, if anyone else has anymore info; leave it here (with sources – if possible –) • GunMetal Angel 02:40, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
Line removal
since i'm an IP i can't edit the main page, but would someone be kind enough to remove (or give a soure for) this line: "It has also been noticed that there is a strong influence of nu metal within their music." i'm no metal elitist, i've got no problem with nu metal, but it's obvious that line was just added by one such metal elitist who labels anything with -core influence "nu metal". it's got no source, and i for one can't see any basis for it. 81.154.150.11 (talk) 22:48, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
- I removed line saying that the band was influenced by 'nu metal'. Nu metal bands are influenced by grunge music, alternative metal, funk metal, hip hop. Suicide Silence does not have any hip hop or funk metal background and it also lacks evidence. If someone feels that this edit was inappropriate you can undo the edit but please site a source. (Triesault (talk) 18:38, 16 May 2009 (UTC))
In an interview in Revolver magazine it clearly states that they are very much influenced by nu metal, as a matter of fact Chris Garza's myspace page sites that his favorite band is KoRn and i've actually spoken to him about his influences. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.72.213.73 (talk) 05:23, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
- They are also influenced by Deftones, but I might I add, they said that they are more of which influenced by bands such as Sepultura. -- GunMetal Angel 17:02, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
- the band mainly is influenced from death metal and grindcore and pretty much nothing but that.early stuff is really grind sounding but then they got more technical and better with later albums. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.233.27.11 (talk) 04:39, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
Genre
Who has placed the comment about not accepting genre changes? This band is a deathcore band, so the article body needs to reflect that. I know that there's a certain negative stigma associated with that genre of music, but if that's what the band plays, then it is what it is.
CyanideSandwich (talk) 02:24, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
- The lead is applying to WP:NEUTRAL, not to mention Suicide Silence (as evidenced by sources) brings a more varied approach rather than just being called deathcore. It's like how Trivium is a metalcore band but it's best for them just to be known as heavy metal. • GunMetal Angel 05:51, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
A Number of Inaccuracies that Require Changes
NO ONE RESPONDED TO MY SUGGESTIONS BELOW SO I MADE EDITS MYSELF TO INCREASE THE ARTICLE'S ACCURACY. I DON'T HAVE TIME AT THE MOMENT TO LEARN THE DETAILS OF WIKI EDITING OR CITE SOURCES FOR ALL THE FACTS I KNOW TO BE TRUE, BUT I'D BE HAPPY TO ENGAGE IN CONVERSATIONS VIA THIS TALK PAGE TO ENSURE THAT THIS ARTICLE STAYS ACCURATE AND IS ENHANCED AS I'M STILL NOT VERY SATISFIED WITH HOW IT READS. I PLAN TO FREQUENT THIS PAGE AND LEARN MORE ABOUT WIKI EDITING. THANKS EVERYONE Jerryricochet (talk) 01:50, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
This page has many inaccuracies and now that it's locked, I reckon my best chance of helping to fix the information is to list the issues below.
They've now released 3 full-length albums. The only EP released was their self-titled. iTunes incorrectly has labeled Wake Up as an EP when it actually is best defined as a "Single" and has never been referred to as an EP by the band. Even if you consider Wake Up an EP, the current listing of 3 is incorrect. The current music video count is now 7. On that subject the director inaccuracies for the videos are: Unanswered (Jerry Clubb), Genocide (Jerry Clubb).
FIRST PARAGRAPH Goddard was replaced in 2006 and the band took things seriously well before that. They signed with Third Degree Records in 2005 and that label released the Self-Titled EP that year. The record was licensed by Third Degree to UK-based label In At The Deep Ends records for distribution in the UK. The record was later re-distributed in the US via SOS Records as Third Degree Records never had retail distribution. Also, the band released a demo in 2004, not 2005. This name, "Krissan Duwason" is completely fictional as far as I can tell. Whoever that is had NOTHING to do with "The Cleansing" or the band at any point in their career. Also the Parkway Drive, ADTR tour is mentioned, but it should be noted that that tour was in Australia as the tour mentioned just above it references the US. If the term "EP" is transparent with "7' Vinyl" then I guess the Green Monster would pass as an EP but it's always been referred to as a 7 inch by the band, label, etc.
SECOND PARAGRAPH The band have only received 1 Golden God award and it was called "Best New Talent." Again, Wake Up isn't considered an EP. "Genocide" was never a single. In fact, the band has never even played the song live despite the live footage seen in the video. It was only put together because the SAW 6 soundtrack opportunity came in at the last minute. It was not a collaboration with Bloody Disgusting. Jerry Clubb handled all the filming and editing. It was simply debuted on Bloody Disgusting's web site for publicity purposes.
THIRD PARAGRAPH They began writing their record in Big Bear but were far from recording and very far from selecting Steve Evetts. When it says the band "attended" festivals it makes it sound like they were there "hanging out." They performed at both festival and that should be reworded. "The Black Crown" has now been released so that last sentence can be reworded as well. Also, Testament was only on the first 1 or 2 Mayhem shows and aren't a part of the tour. That name should be replaced with Trivium or Unearth if not one of the larger main stage bands.
OTHER Associated acts that shouldn't be there are Light This City and Oblige. No one from SS was ever in Light This City although Dan Kenny may have filled in on a tour for them, he was never a member. I think Mike Bodkins may have joined Oblige briefly after his departure from SS, but not even long enough to mention. Alex Lopez used to be in a band called Black Heart Eulogy so perhaps that is worth mentioning instead. At least the current and past members seem to be in much better shape than they used to be. A few years back all sorts of ridiculous names were listed all over the place. Obviously you can guess that I am Jerry Clubb, video director and band manager of Suicide Silence. I've managed Suicide Silence since their garage days in late 2004 and nothing I'm typing here is inaccurate in any way. Even though I HATE the term "deathcore" I'm not bringing any of my stylistic opinions into this request for editing, only the facts. I'm a big fan of Wikipedia and would love to stay more involved with this page as well as help out with any others that I may have a particularly detailed knowledge of. Thanks! Jerryricochet (talk) 07:18, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
- Done, I'll take care of those "EP" pages too. Sorry, that's kind of my fault, I'm the one who wrote them up as EPs because it stated online that they were EPs and not singles. • GunMetal Angel 07:49, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
Death of Mitch Lucker?
Mitch Lucker has been killed in a motorcycle crash (http://blog.pe.com/audio-file/2012/11/01/riverside-suicide-silences-mitch-lucker-killed-in-motorcycle-crash/) according to recent news. This should probably be added to the article. --Editor510 drop us a line, mate 18:45, 1 November 2012 (UTC)

N-word incident?
Should the infamous October 2012 incident where Mitch shouted "nigger" onstage be added to this article, or would it be better to add a tour section under The Black Crown and put it there?

How is a metal news website not a reliable source?24.231.78.74 (talk) 19:43, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
- Done. I see no reason in Wikipedia's policy on reliable sources that a well-known metal news site would not be considered a reliable for this article, especially when the statement in question was made by the man's wife. Blabbermouth.net is one of the most well-known and respected metal news sites out there, even being cited by the London Free Press as reliable. Luvanger666 (talk) 01:36, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
Broken up?
The article is implying (in some parts anyway) that SS have officialy disbanded as a result of Mitch's death. Although this would be an understandable outcome I don't see any official sources confirming they have actually broken up yet, only that they've pulled out of an upcoming tour. As a result I think this article needs clearing up to clarify the matter.VampireKilla (talk) 00:36, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
Mitch Lucker - Past Members
Could a cross be possibly added next to Mitch Lucker's name under past members out of respect and possibly to show that the reason he is a past member is because of his death. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Welchy720 (talk • contribs) 12:28, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
- The instructions for the infobox indicate that there shouldn't be anything else in the field other than the names of the members: Past members of the group, listed in order of joining with no other notation than names. {{Infobox musical artist#past_members}} The fate of the past members should be described in the article itself. ... discospinster talk 13:42, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

On the article about the band Suicide Silence it lists Mitch Lucker as a previous member. Mitch was killed in a motercycle accident last November. It was heartbreaking and the wound is still fresh. Suicide Silence have yet to say if the band is going to continuine to be a band now. When/If a new vocalist joins , then Mitch would be a past member of SS. On The Beatles page, George Harrison and John Lennon are listed as regular members. Kurt Cobain isn't a past member of Nirvana on their article. Until we know what the fate of the band is then Mitch Lucker is still a member!-- End request --> Humanphobic (talk) 07:30, 7 April 2013 (UTC)

No it isn't, it's a fusion genre between death metal and hardcore punk/post hardcore. It's no more 'metal' than it is post-hardcore or hardcore punk.JWULTRABLIZZARD (talk) 08:13, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
24.231.78.74 If your gonna try and convince us that deathcore isn't metal (which is outright wrong and an elitist thing to say) then you might as well say Judas Priest, Megadeth and every other 70s/80s metal band isn't metal either, since any deathcore is 1000 times heavier than any of them. I call the big one bitey (talk) 01:28, 19 May 2013 (UTC)
But metal isn't defined by 'heaviness'-if that were the case, then Power metal and black metal wouldn't be subgenres of metal, but they are. It's more defined by the type if riffs rather than the 'heaviness' of the music (which at any rate is a totally subjective thing anyway) that defines whether the music is 'metal' or not. Not all 'heavy' music is metal anyway-hardcore punk isn't metal, neither's grunge, neither is industrial rock. All use guitars, all are 'heavy', none are metal or any variety of it. As for the '70s/80s metal' argument, well, since when has music been defined by what decade it starts in? You had bands in the 70s that were heavier than bands in the 80s, you had bands in the 80s that were heavier than bands that started in the 90s...bands in the 90s that were heavier than bands now...you get my point. Death metal started in the 80s. It is much, much heavier than black metal (which started as a rebellion against death metal and is thus rather intentionally trebly, lacking in bass frequencies and not at all 'heavy' in the conventional sense.), and yet black metal started in the 90s.
Need I point out that Suicide Silence stated as regards their last album (in terrorizer, btw) that they 'aren't deathcore'?JWULTRABLIZZARD (talk) 14:24, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
Mitch Lucker
Mitch never left SS. He never quit or got kicked out. What happened to him was terrible, but he should still be up there in the band. He will always be a member of the band, not a past member, but a member. If you're going to do anything, could you just put a cross or a halo with his name and keep him in the place that he belongs? I know that's probably a dumb request, but he'll never not be in the band. He just... He's not here anymore and something should be done to symbolize the way he'll always be a part of SS... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.96.56.149 (talk) 03:37, 31 December 2012 (UTC)
Er, no?JWULTRABLIZZARD (talk) 08:11, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
Ya sorry but just because you like the band and are sad that he died doesn't change the facts: He died, and is therefore a former member of the band, it doesn't mean he was kicked out or that he is somehow forgotten, but wikipedia deals in rationality, not fangirl logic. You will notice that Freddy Mercury's name is listed under Past Members of Queen's wiki page, despite being the iconic face of the group, and Queen is arguably a more notable band and therefore sets a precendent for this sort of thing. His name should be moved to the Past Members section, it isn't a sign of disrespect, it's just the way of things. Mrkite6270 (talk) 23:05, 24 September 2013 (UTC)

The band is still together. At about 3:00 pm central time, the band posted a link on their Facebook page of the song "You Only Live Once." It features a new vocalist with the headline "Suicide Silence will continue..."

Hernan "Eddie" Hermida Has Not Been Officially Confirmed

The band released a clip of their song "You Only Live Once" with Hermida on vocals.[43]" but there has not been an official confirmation of this. The "source" is a youtube video that does not have the required info on it. It is highly possible Eddie is the new vocalist, but it is officially still in speculation.

Black metal?
How are the vocals used supposedly "black metal" influenced? It's higher hardcore yapping, not higher black metal screaming. 72.72.199.25 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 00:56, 14 May 2009 (UTC).
- eVEN THOUGH THEY ARE NOT HIGHER THAN "BLACK METAL" SCREAMING THEY STILL PUT SUFFICENT EFFORT INTO THEIR WORK.
- I highly disagree, if you don't believe me, try listening to the screams in "No Pity for a Coward" and "Bludgeoned to Death" sure sounds like Mitch Lucker does a great ammount of vocal work that leads into resembelence to black metal bands (Gorgororth for a good example) espicially in these two songs. • GunMetal Angel 19:28, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
- Mitch is using false chords, which is a style that is primary used in almost every single death and black metal band. Hardly "higher hardcore yapping." 173.64.84.108 (talk) 05:00, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

In the image, you can see that Mitch is not credited, implying that Mitch was not there to record the vocals. There are also other members on here that are explained here.
- Discogs is not a source. The only thing that can confirm and back up your statement is if the members were to say it themselves in an interview or whatever. Second Skin (talk) 11:52, 12 February 2017 (UTC)
