NFCC#10 §c dictates the image page list the articles the image is being used in, so why was it removed despite links to the primary article in the rationale? VegasCasinoKid (talk) 07:26, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
- The policy also states: "... and a separate, specific non-free use rationale for each use of the item, as explained at Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline" (emphasis added). The image page currently only lists one article and only one instance of the {{Non-free use rationale 2}} tag, but it's NOT this article that it listed. Thus per WP:NFCCE, "the file should be removed from the articles for which it lacks a non-free-use rationale". Zzyzx11 (talk) 05:27, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
- would listing this article with its own rationale in the image page have done the trick? here is a hidden-text rationale for an image from the palm beach post:
wiki markup sample rationale

{{Non-free use rationale | Description = An aerial view of miami stadium in it's current renovated state. | Source = Palm Beach Post <ref>https://cmgpbpdailydolphin.files.wordpress.com/2016/04/stadium-aerial-view.jpg</ref> | Article = Super_Bowl_LV | Portion = all | Low_resolution = | Purpose = To show image | Replaceability = no free image could be found | other_information = many other *non-free* images exist }} |

- First, what would be the relevance of a rationale that describes what is now called Hard Rock Stadium in the Miami area, when Super Bowl LV is planned to be played instead in the Los Angeles area? Second, a purpose that merely says "to show image" is ambiguous, and other editors may view that explanation as insufficient for the purposes of NFCC#8 - "Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the article topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding". One editor did remove the image off of History of the Los Angeles Rams citing that rule.[1] Rule 8 is somewhat subjective, but there are those who only strictly follow the two common circumstances listed on Wikipedia:Non-free content#Meeting the contextual significance criterion. My assumption under such a strict interpretation is that the design rendering of the proposed City of Champions Stadium is not really necessary here because it is not really the primary subject of this article, nor is there a discussion or paragraph about the stadium's proposed design here. It is probably the same reason why the Super Bowl LIII article does not currently have an image of the proposed Mercedes-Benz Stadium, or why Super Bowl LIV had a free content image of the stadium near Miami before the renovations. Zzyzx11 (talk) 07:50, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
- Ihe above was a sample, subject to corrections. I've been in these discussions before and if the image was deleted by consensus the best I could do is provide a reference. Thank you for the advice. VegasCasinoKid (talk) 12:00, 31 August 2016 (UTC)

Super Bowl LV Halftime Show
[edit]The performer for the Super Bowl halftime show won't be announced until September or October. Ringo Asinal - Nocead12345 (talk) 15:10, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
Home team
[edit]I think that in all of the odd-numbered Super Bowls, the NFC (previously NFL) champion was to be the official "home" team (going back to Green Bay in SB-I), with the AFC(AFL) champ getting the nominal honor in the alternate years. So, if this tradition has been maintained, then Tampa Bay will be the "official" home team as well as the obvious one. Of course, that's just coincidence, and they could have as easily been the "visitors" in a game at their own stadium, had this game an even number. Wonder if they'd have wear white and use the other locker room? WHPratt (talk) 03:39, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
- In 2017-18, there was a chance the Vikings could play in the Super Bowl in their home stadium as the designated "visitors." The NFL said in that year, the Vikings would have been allowed to use their own practice facility and locker room (instead of the AFC team, as the "home" team, practicing at the Vikings' facility and having their choice of locker rooms/sidelines). The AFC "home" team would have still had choice of jersey color. Ultimately the Vikings lost in the NFC championship game so this contingency was not needed. Frank AnchorTalk 04:13, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
- Looks as if the L.A. Rams will be the "visiting team" in their home stadium in Super Bowl LVI, as it's the AFC's turn top host. WHPratt (talk) 20:31, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
Misleading logo showing LIV despite 55 being LV in roman numerals
[edit]Why would the Superbowl organizers create a logo that shows LIV rather than LV ? If they're going to stick with roman numerals (for some bizarre reason) they should at least use the right letters ... L (50) and V (5) rather than L and IV (4). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:A61:50B1:4701:50D2:E1BC:D9D8:293E (talk) 09:28, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
- You will need to contact the NFL or Super Bowl officials if you have concerns about the logo. This page is for discussing changes to this article only, it is not for general discussion. 331dot (talk) 10:01, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
- The Lombardi Trophy is not a Roman numeral. The NFL uses Roman numerals because the Super Bowl is in a different year than the regular season. 331dot (talk) 10:02, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
- It's consistent with how they started doing it after Superbowl 50. See [[2]]. You're going to be livid with next year's Superbowl LIVI d;-) TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 00:23, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
Wildcard in Super Bowl Statement
[edit]In this article, the Green Bay Packers are listed as the first wildcard team to play in a Super Bowl.
"The Buccaneers will be the first team to play a Super Bowl in their home stadium,[8] and the first wild card team since the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XLV."
The Oakland Raiders won Super Bowl XV as a wildcard team. Ref: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl_XV
"The Raiders defeated the Eagles by the score of 27–10, becoming the first wild card playoff team to win a Super Bowl." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.170.164.152 (talk) 17:49, 4 February 2021 (UTC)
- That's not what it says. It says they are the first WC team since the Packers. Jdavi333 (talk) 17:56, 4 February 2021 (UTC)

Add streaker on-field interruption note
[edit]It should be noted that gameplay was briefly interrupted during the last minutes of the fourth quarter by a fan in a pink one-piece who ran on field.

: Done — I added a note in the "Second half" section. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 21:42, 8 February 2021 (UTC)
Is there something notable about the man who ran on the field? Is this the first time a spectator has run onto the field during the Super Bowl? I don't get it. Tampabay721 (talk) 17:23, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
Good to note the streaker, Yuri Andrade, reportedly made $374,000 on a bet - after betting someone would streak during the game. https://www.sportbible.com/americanfootball/news-betting-super-bowl-streaker-yuri-andrade-won-374000-on-incredible-prop-bet-20210209 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.5.99.24 (talk) 18:07, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
- Someone has removed any mention of the streaking. This got major news coverage, even you can say it had more coverage in major media than the game itself. I feel i should ask for opinions about adding it back, before I just do it, so please post if you support or oppose to add a blurb about it. You can see the prior version here [3]. Jaxarnolds (talk) 19:42, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
- Should we really cover self-promotion? I'm somewhat of the opinion that events where someone disrupts events just to promote themselves deserve to be ignored rather than immortalized. Tarl N. (discuss) 01:18, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
- I really doubt that a streaker at the game got more media coverage than the game itself. I oppose readding it. It's WP:ROTM for sporting events and adds nothing of value. – Muboshgu (talk) 01:26, 26 May 2021 (UTC)

scoreless 4th quarter
[edit]is the scoreless 4th quarter notable enough to mention? feels like a while since it's happened - when was the last one? 141.92.67.44 (talk) 10:15, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
- Probably not. This is the 4th Super Bowl to feature a scoreless 4th quarter (along with IV, XIX, and XXXII) and scoreless quarters in general are somewhat frequent. Frank AnchorTalk 14:27, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
- I agree with Frank Anchor, a scoreless 4th quarter in itself is not noteworthy. Though it may not be terribly exciting, it does not warrant a mention in the article. Jurisdicta (talk) 03:42, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I didn't actually notice myself - till I saw the score br4eak down on the article. 141.92.67.44 (talk) 10:17, 11 February 2021 (UTC)
Most Championships in Pro Football History
[edit]In section of “Records tied” can I add on Tom Brady “Most Championships in Pro Football History” by player at 7? because he tied Otto Graham for this record. Do you agree?? or not?? Sfera1022 (talk) 11:31, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, as long as you include a reliable source. Brady tied both Graham and Bart Starr for this record. Frank AnchorTalk 13:17, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
Alright but Pro Football Hall of Fame does not double counting (In the first 4 Super Bowls, a winning player of the Super Bowl is counted as a Super Bowl champion, they don’t count the NFL or AFL championship that the team won to earn the opportunity to play in the game). CBS says Brady tied Graham and that he has the most NFL championships by player. Which means Starr has 5 championships (I know about his 2 Super Bowls and 5 NFL championships) but the 2 NFL championships which he won the Super Bowl in the same season (1966, 1967) are not counted Sfera1022 (talk) 14:41, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
- Oops, you're 100% correct, I accidentally did double-count the two SB years (was thinking five pre-SB NFL titles plus the two SBs, not including them. Thanks! Frank AnchorTalk 15:36, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
Rocket League celebration/sponsorship
[edit]Not sure if this is the right place to ask but, in Rocket League there was an event for the Super Bowl. Would this be something that belongs in this article or would it be better suited for the Rocket League article? Neither page mentions this and I'm not sure if the people who run the Super Bowl had any involvement or if it was just Psyonix/Epic Games.
