Suggesting article split

[edit]

I suggest we split the article into two separate articles for Clone and Original Syaoran. After all, would it make sense to have Jango and Boba Fett on the same page? Please discuss. 213.166.17.12 (talk) 11:10, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If there are no objections I shall split the article. Ggctuk (talk) 10:41, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry it's after the effect, but I don't think splitting the article was a good idea. What notability do Syaoran and his clone have apart from each other? What creation information and impact could we ever hope to gather that wouldn't be relevant to both of them? I realize it's hard to summarize both their storylines in one article, but for that, subheadings should suffice. The plot summary is far too long anyway. --KagamiNoMiko (talk) 09:17, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That would be like saying that because there is not enough information on Jango Fett, his article should be merged with Boba Fett. My thinking was that they are still two different characters. All the two articles need is a clean-up, which this one needed before I split it anyway. Ggctuk (talk) 18:10, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I don't know about the Fetts, but I don't really feel that the two Syaorans can be easily distinguished as separate characters. So much of their history and characteristics is entwined. Now, of course within the manga, they are different characters, but does Clone Syaoran really have notable characteristics apart from being Syaoran's clone created with the purpose of gathering the feathers? I just don't feel there is enough real-world notability to his role to warrant a separate article.--KagamiNoMiko (talk) 20:10, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
One thing that should be pointed out is that for a person that is new to the series or not as far along in the storyline as others to come to the Tsubasa Chronicle article and immediately have this information spoiled for them from the beginning would be unfair...which is exactly what happened to this user. For this reason this user suggests that the two pages be merged and then a separate section within the article devoted to the original Syaoran with appropriate spoiler tags. --TwilightxPrince (talk) 09:27, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why is Chapter 190 information suddenly irrelative?

[edit]

190 is just as important to the plot development as 189. So why on earth is 190 constantly edited out of the article? And saying "Where Sakura and Syaoran are remains a mystery" is speculative at best, don't you think? 213.166.17.13 (talk) 11:17, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not the place for chapter by chapter updates. The whole thing is already way too long. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 11:27, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Then split the article - Clone and Original, just like the CCS Wikia has to relieve article length. Ggctuk (talk) 22:41, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Syaoran"'s Age

[edit]

In Refrence 1 said that 'In Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle chapter 1, Sakura states that it had been seven years since "Syaoran" had arrived in Clow Country, and in Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle chapters 188 and 189 "Syaoran" was revealed to be just seven when he met Sakura. He reversed his time back to 7 years old, as revealed in chapter 188, and lived the same seven years in the captivity of Fei Wong.' So that means he is 21, right? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hkr-128 (talkcontribs) 14:03, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently, even simple mathematics is unfounded rumour nowadays... 213.166.17.12 (talk) 08:48, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability?

[edit]

Why is the main character of this series the only with the note that the notability of the article is questionable? Five other characters which could be considered secondary to this one have no note of notability at all. (98.210.170.207 (talk) 10:22, 28 June 2008 (UTC))[reply]

The story is very popular and consquently it is important to have a n article about its main character. Moreover a the plot is quiet complicated I consider it is common for people to consult in wikipedia information from this character. 10:52 Bs As. October 6.

A serious wrong found!

[edit]

Syaoran's mother was not the "Sakura Li",But "Sakura Kinomoto"!

It’s assuming that she marries into the Li family and changes her name, but I agree that should be clarified. Technically I think she should be put down as 'Sakura Kinomoto', since it's difficult to prove that she had taken Li's name before the birth of her son, and obviously it’s causing some confusion to simply start calling the character ‘Sakura Li’. 3loodlust (talk) 17:24, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In a flashback, "Syaoran" is revealed to be the son of Sakura Kinomoto and Syaoran Li from Cardcaptor Sakura. This is not even confirmed, but is pure speculation. I am removing it. With the plot device of there being billions of worlds, it may not the Syaoran and Sakura may not even be the same ones. Dinkybarrel (talk) 08:46, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If Watanuki is a replacement for "Syaoran", then Sakura and Shaoran from CCS are dead, right? But then, Yuko says early in xxxHolic that she will meet them one day. How is this possible?70.23.194.190 (talk) 22:01, 23 October 2008 (UTC) - Because what she said was that she would meet the alternate versions of them, ie the TRC version, not the CCS version, because the CCS Sakura/Syao are dead/ whatever happened to them.[reply]

Go read xxxHolic chapter... 170, I think... Syaoran and Sakura still live, but they were teleported to another world... kinda retcons the "There are a Sakura and Syaoran in this world" that Yuko said in vol.2 but oh, well, she lies about many things anyways. 213.166.17.12 (talk) 11:12, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, disciples of Collectonian. No wonder I take these changes to CCS Wikia. 213.166.17.12 (talk) 09:40, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Issues must be resolved for a pass. Suggestions can be ignored. DragonZero (Talk · Contribs) 08:56, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Issues
  • "who befriends Sakura, his childhood friend" The wording is awkward here. The tense is suggesting he is befriending Sakura, who is already his childhood friend?
  • "Syaoran goes on a quest to recover them, giving all of Sakura's memories involving him as a payment for travel." The second latter part is confusing for general readers. I'm assuming this is explained in more detail inside the appearances section, so you could chop off the payment part in the lead.
  • "Syaoran is revealed to be a clone of another teenager created by Fei-Wang Reed" It's implying the real Syaoran is created by Fei-Wang, which is incorrect I believe.
  • "who gives him, Fai D. Flowright and" comma after Flowright.
  • "Cardcaptor Sakura counterparts had a happy ending]" Misplaced bracket?
  • "After events of the Oto country," General readers would not know what the Oto country story arc is (I didn't anyways)
  • You should probably expand on this so readers know why the editor would say what he did. Right now, I just have to assume something bad happened to the character there.
  • "In order to make his fight scenes more entertaining, Clamp thought about giving Syaoran named sword techniques like those of Kurogane." The first part suggests this came to fruition. The second suggests it was only a passing thought. Which is it?
  • "understand him, and that some crossover characters share names and designs." The second part was added very abruptly. It also doesn't seem to add onto the reception. You might want to rewrite the sentence to fix the abruptness and to fix the second part's addition.
  • Image is excessively large. I suggest a size so you don't need a size restriction in the infobox.
Suggestion
  • Deadurl=no for live, archive links in citeweb
  • Fix link redirects (Found here)
Ex
http://ds.ign.com/articles/618/618242p1.html
redirects to
http://www.ign.com/articles/2005/05/23/tsubasa-chronicle-to-ds
  • Decapitalize things in the ref like "CLAMP"
  • Don't quote me on this, but if you order the citeweb to use archiveurl then archive date before the live links, the link checker won't bring up the links as dead.
  • I suggest using reflist|30em instead of reflist|2.
  • Have you considered moving the article onto the disambig Syaoran and using hat notes to redirect to the other characthers? Otherwise, it's current title could use the template display title to italicize the series name.
Thanks for the review. I already tried following all issues and most suggestions. Regards.Tintor2 (talk) 13:39, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Related to Tsubasa (Syaoran) move - but if the move is valid (clone) cannot be the correct dab In ictu oculi (talk) 09:52, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Could you explain why "clone" is not the correct dab? What about clone character as the dab, or Syaoran Clone? Haleth (talk) 12:22, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Syaoran (original character) and Syaoran (clone character) could suffice. But there's also no other "Syaoran" article except for Syaoran Li which his last name is already a natural disambiguator.Blue Pumpkin Pie Chat Contribs 15:24, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Blue Pumpkin Pie: I think that this is the best option, though I have a little concern that "original character" could be misinterpreted in the sense of "an original character created by CLAMP" (also true of the CCS character). I think the next best alternative would be the albeit unwieldy Syaoran (Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle, original) and Syaoran (Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle, clone). — Goszei (talk) 21:31, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Didn't pay attention. If this is allowed by the guidlines I support itTintor2 (talk) 18:50, 4 December 2020 (UTC) @2pou: Did something happen? I don't see any "oppose" against this.Tintor2 (talk) 17:58, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal

[edit]

I am proposing a merge between Syaoran (Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle, original) and Syaoran (Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle, clone) into a single page, Syaoran (Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle). This suggestion is one I have made prior on the speedy deletion article. giftheck (talk) 20:30, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I support a merge. It doesn't make sense to ask someone to read multiple articles to understand a single character, even if that character has multiple forms. It becomss a lot easier for our readers to follow what's going on if it's organized into a single article. By my read, the last discussion showed that there was a WP:CONSENSUS towards that as a compromise. Shooterwalker (talk) 14:41, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just because they share the same name doesn't make the same character. They are nearly always on the opposite site, different dialogues, different weapons, and different clothing. The clone is a new character created through Osamu Tezuka system while the original is more reference to Syaoran Li from Cardcaptor Sakura as mentioned in reception. The clone was the series' protagonist through the first 14 volumes of Tsubasa while the original stayed in the second half and World Chronicle. Are you familiar with the series? Tintor2 (talk) 01:10, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Closing given the uncontested objection with stale discussion. Klbrain (talk) 21:39, 6 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
