Note[edit]

Please remember that, as the game hasn't been given a proper classification as of now, it has no proper area it can be placed in.

For the sake of convenience, I ask that you leave this game here for now, until it is confirmed as to whether it is a mothership title or an escort title. Rpgmonkey (talk) 07:35, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

But even thoguh you have left this note, this article may be deleted per lack of refs and notability. Gears of War Go 'Skins! 14:18, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If we're unsure as to whether it's a Mothership or Escort title, then maybe the first line shouldn't say "Tales of Hearts is the latest and twelfth mothership title in the Tales series." Just a thought...67.232.240.57 (talk) 17:40, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Here's an article from Famitsu from a while back that claimed that the next Tales game's title would start with an H. I know this has nothing to do with whether it'd be a Mothership title or an Escort title (unless I missed something while reading it), but I thought it'd help out a bit...67.232.244.124 (talk) 21:22, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Here's a trailer for the game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NiiY86JGSSk It says "Next Tales of" which confirms that this is a main game. It did this for Innocence and Vesperia as well. Also, since ToS:KoR isn't really in the main series, wouldn't it make this title the eleventh game? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.193.231.135 (talk) 11:13, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it would. People here still can't decide whether KoR is a Mothership or Escort title (note the fact that it's listed as an escort title at the bottom, but on the Tales series' article, it's listed as a mothership title). 67.232.244.124 (talk) 06:26, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually it's pretty easy to figure it out now. Ever since Abyss, the trailer for the next main game in the Tales series has "Next Tales of" in it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.193.229.228 (talk) 06:41, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Umm...Question[edit]

Where did the info on Ines' and Hisui's voice actors come from? I'm not saying I don't believe it, I just haven't seen a source for them yet. 67.232.245.35 (talk) 00:09, 15 August 2008 (UTC) (Oh yeah, and if anyone says, "You can clearly hear them in the trailer," then I give up on the subject.) 67.232.245.35 (talk) 00:13, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like Hisui's was wrong according to this as the names didn't match up. I changed it accordingly, although it does look like Shizuka Itō for Ines was right if you look really closely at the top. 67.232.245.35 (talk) 08:23, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Delayed[edit]

Just to let everyone know: The game has been delayed a week. The release date is now December 18, 2008. This announcement appeared on Tales Channel today. http://namco-ch.net/taleschannel/index.php —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.165.211.18 (talk) 19:29, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

NA release date?![edit]

I just noticed that in the release date part of the little...table thingy of information...it says that the NA date is TBA 2009. This game has just released in Japan. There has been no talk of there being an english release. Yeah, it's possible, but nothing confirmed. There's not even a source given. Also, the JP date doesn't appear so could someone fix this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.194.239.210 (talk) 09:41, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Track list[edit]

Can someone explain how this means anything to a general reader? The people who keep re-adding it haven't really said why yet. To me, it's unnecessary. The tracks names aren't prominently shown in the game, so to most readers, this means nothing to them. There's also precedent for removal, as past Tales GA's had their track list removed. Lead
  • Link iOS, and it's just iOS, not "the iOS"
  • You say xerom and Xerom in the same sentence, pick one capitalization- looks like you went lower-case in the rest of the article
  • You mention the genre theme without ever mentioning that the Tales series has official themes per game
  • It's not quite clear that Hearts was only released on the DS in Japan, and the only non-Japanese release was Hearts R. I'd try modifying the first sentence to something like "a Japanese role-playing game originally released for the Nintendo DS in Japan and later ported to the PlayStation Vita and released worldwide."
Gameplay
  • Link ARPG
  • "For the original version" - "In the original Nintendo DS release"
  • I don't think you go into enough detail about the Combination Aerial LMBS - specifically, you say it's a modified version of the Aerial LMBS, but there's no explanation or link to what the Aerial LMBS is, much less what the LMBS is in the first place. Right now, it's expecting the reader to be familiar with other games in the series to understand the combat system.
  • Link Vita
  • You talk about the leveling system in the remake, but not in the original version
Plot
  • "Two millennia before the present day..." - this sentence just goes on and on, try to split it up somehow
  • Not a huge fan of character lists, but I don't see a good way to make it into prose
  • You mention Incarose a couple times (characters and start of story) without saying who they are- a person? an organization?
  • Wow, this story is... complete nonsense. Like, possibly worse than Xenogears nonsense.
Development
  • Make it Tales of Destiny, not just Destiny, since it's been a while since you mentioned the name
  • Link PS2
  • "the DS' touch screen" think it's better without the apostrophe
  • You need to touch on the two different versions of the original release, right now it's only explicitly stated in the lead
  • "fitted" is an adjective, "cutscenes fitted properly into the game" -> "cutscenes fit properly into the game"
  • Maybe mention that Hearts R is a remake of the anime version, or that the new cutscenes replace the anime/cg cutscenes from the original if that's true
  • "Unlike previous localizations..." - there's a lot going on in this sentence. "the game remained with Japanese voice acting" -> "the game kept the Japanese voice acting". The colon is just... no. After a colon should come a clarifying clause to what was just said; you seem to be using it here to replace a semicolon, but should really just use a period. Actually, please look through your use of colons throughout the article- if you have an entire sentence after the colon, or if the section isn't a clarifying clause, you probably shouldn't be using a colon but a semicolon or a comma or a period.
  • "The official soundtrack" -> "The official soundtrack album"
  • Compact discs is redirecting
  • "RPG Fan" -> "RPGFan"
  • "both called it" -> "called it both"
  • "Nnintendo DS"
  • "Max Nevill..." - this sentence sticks way too many dependent clauses together (", although..., though..."). I'd start a new sentence at "although", and drop the "though"
Release
  • "a spacial "Linked Edition""
  • Link DLC
  • Mention the iOS port is only for Japan
  • "Hearts R is compatible with PlayStation TV" -> with the PlayStation TV
Reception
  • Be consistent in the table about which version of the game the score is for - I presume the unmarked ones are for the Vita?
  • If you're going to contrast the Famitsu sales numbers with other sales numbers, say where the 137k figure came from
  • "being #72" -> "placing #72"
  • "the "anime edition" of Hearts" - you've been capitalizing this everywhere else
  • "the Anime and CG Movie editions" - you've been sticking these in quotes up until this point, pick one
  • "Metacritic giving it" -> "Metacritic gave it", also, the scores don't match the table. Speaking of which, current guidelines on the GameRankings score is to round it to the nearest percentage point, since none of the component scores go out to the hundredths of percents.
  • "was more mixed about it" - what's "it"?
  • '"almost feels forced."' - you don't put the period inside of the quote unless you're quoting a full sentence. So, '"almost feels forced".'
References
  • Redirects are: Gamespot in ref 5, Namco Bandai Games in refs 56 and 58
  • Even if you don't do publishers for websites, you need one for Famitsu and Dengeki references since they're magazines
  • Same for Game Informer and EGM
  • Why does Game-OST get italicized? Also, Bordersdown, which you're also italicizing in the text?
  • Put "|language=Japanese" on Japanese-language refs
  • Ref 57, VGMdb, is not an RS- it's user submitted
  • I like how you pulled out the game quotes into their own section
Images
  • I'd like to see better/expanded fair use justifications for the gameplay and NDS cover images, especially the latter.

Alright, all done! If you plan on taking this to FAC in the future, you're going to need to get a good copyedit first—there's a limit to my own abilities there. Though I do think you're abusing colons, it's not like I don't try to abuse semicolons and mdashes. --PresN 18:25, 24 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've (hopefully) attended to everything, and managed to expand on a few points in the gameplay and release sections. I couldn't keep the "Anime Edition" image, but I found and used a gameplay image from the original Hearts, which I thought would help illustrate the article's text better. I checked the redirects you mentioned, but they didn't do any redirecting for me, and they didn't show up when I ran the article through Checklinks. Perhaps you could explain exactly what is happening so I can try and fix the fault. The character list is used in every Tales game article, including all the current GAs. As to the plot... that was as short and orderly as I could make it. Its meandering style and general confusing structure is a fault of the game. By the time I finished finding all those quotes, I was cross-eyed and glue-braised: seriously, who wrote that English scrip!? It's not even accurate! I intend to take a long rest before doing another Tales GA article. This may have been a joy at times, but at other times it was a chore. --ProtoDrake (talk) 21:12, 24 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
1) I think the new gameplay image is much more useful for the article than another box shot, so good call on that. 2) By redirects I meant the actual wikilinks, I've just gone ahead and fixed them myself. 3) Well, if its the standard for Tales articles, whatever. 4) Yeah, I meant the actual plot of the game was nonsense! And if the English translation was bad too, that just makes it worse. Maybe that's why Tales games aren't popular outside of Japan- they certainly seem to have a higher tolerance for ridiculous plotlines in games. 5) GA pass: GET! Good luck on the rest of the Tales games when you get to them; it's going to be a long-term project it seems. --PresN 21:48, 24 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
