Anthology

[edit]

What’s the source on this? It doesn’t say in the article body that the show is meant to be more than a miniseries. Rusted AutoParts 06:10, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Agree - unless there is a citation that says this is being planned as a multi-year project, we should assume that the show will merely follow the book and end at the end of the Mercury Program - they should be able to get there by Ep8. Therefore everything that says "series" should really say "mini-series". Ckruschke (talk) 18:45, 26 October 2020 (UTC)Ckruschke[reply]
Read the premise, guys, it clearly says that future seasons are planned. Taurus Littrow (talk) 19:16, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
So what makes it an anthology? It sounds like it’s going to be following the same situation with the same (or most of) the same characters. Rusted AutoParts 17:31, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I wish I knew. Taurus Littrow (talk) 19:21, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
So then the anthology genre listed in the lead should be taken out. Rusted AutoParts 19:22, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. It won't make it to season 2 anyway, the show is truly awful. Taurus Littrow (talk) 21:22, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure its 'awful', however it does take sufficient artistic license with many events and oddly chooses to be hyper-focused on Cooper's marriage. Some stuff they are getting right, its just very uneven. However, its not worse cinematically than the 1983 movie making us sit through a 20 min horseback race between Chuck Yeager and his wife... Any notable sources for the “license with many events”? (It’s been a while since I read the book. IMDb does note one.) This may merit a section.

I don't agree that it was "hyper focused" on Cooper's failing marriage... I believe roughly the same amount of screen time was given to that, as to other astronauts' drama in their marriages. A lot of the criticism I've heard is too much focus and outright lying about Shepard's infidelity, which is a laugh considering it's all true. 137.188.108.203 (talk) 15:38, 30 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
What made it awful for you? Seemed very good. 137.188.108.203 (talk) 15:36, 30 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Plot Is Correct?

[edit]

The citation in the plot says that the mini-series will go through the to the moon landing and includes a citation. This is neither the ending of the book nor the 1983 movie - both on which the series is based (both of which end on Cooper's MA-9 mission). Considering there are only eight episodes and episode four hasn't even sniffed the first US manned mission (or any US launch), I seriously doubt we are getting to the moon. Ckruschke (talk) 18:42, 26 October 2020 (UTC)Ckruschke[reply]

The premise says the Moon landing(s) will be shown in future seasons, not in this one. Taurus Littrow (talk) 19:13, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, at this point I think it's safe to say the series is done. 137.188.108.203 (talk) 15:39, 30 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
