Tseax Cone and The[edit]

Hi. This edit removes "the" from "the Tseax Cone", whereas the Tseax Cone article uses "the" in (I think) every body text appearance. I absolutely wouldn't have a clue which is right, hence I'm not editing anything - I just wanted to mention the inconsistency for the attention of editors more experienced in the field. Thanks! DBaK (talk) 10:33, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

I am the one that largely wrote the Tseax Cone article, I just have not got the time and interest to rewrite its article right now. Most of my work on the Tseax Cone article goes back before I started bringing articles to FA class, and I did not have as great grammar/structure like I do now. But in most cases, the "the" before cinder cone names (e.g. Tseax Cone, Eve Cone, Williams Cone, etc) is optional. There is no right or wrong. Check out the Tseax Cone page on the Natural Resources Canada website here. As you can see, they use both grammatic structures - "Lava flows from the Tseax cone ponded near the Nass River, forming a vast, flat plain underlain by the lava flows" and "The eruption of Tseax cone is the only eruption in Canada for which legends of First Nations people have been verified". I took the "the" before Tseax Cone out of this article so it would be easiler to read. It is basically the same thing for Yukon - it is either "Yukon" or "the Yukon". Fair enough, and thanks very much for the reply. I hadn't realized that the usages could be interchangeable, and I also hadn't looked at Tseax Cone's edit history! I'm glad there's no consistency problem to worry about here. Cheers DBaK (talk) 11:10, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

High quality photos[edit]

For a FA-class article, shouldn't there be some more high quality pictures? I always get a good visual idea from FAs, especially ones about nature, but from this one, I really got none. Is it due to how remote the park is that there's no photos? It would really improve the article to have several decent pictures of this: "...it rises above the surrounding rugged landscape on a remote mountain ridge that represents the northern flank of a glaciated U-shaped valley".--Atkinson (talk) 13:31, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

The FA criteria does not say that high qulity photos are needed for FA-class articles. It is just this: "It has images and other media where appropriate, with succinct captions, and acceptable copyright status. Images included follow the image use policy. Non-free images or media must satisfy the criteria for inclusion of non-free content and be labeled accordingly." The lack of high quality photos in this article is mostly because there is not many images of The Volcano - it is a remote peak. Volcanoguy 18:02, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

On a side-topic, it's a little pointless to include a volcanic eruption from a different volcano. If users wanted to know what a volcanic eruption looked like, they could check that article. Brutannica (talk) 19:04, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

It is not just a volcnic eruption, it is the form of volcanic eruption that occurred at The Volcano. There are no pics of The Volcano in eruption, that's the problem. But because I do not think it is needed anymore, I have removed it. The article seemed a little bit clutered with that pic anyway. Volcanoguy 19:08, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

Name[edit]

Is it just me or is this sentence hilarious? "In speech it may not be obvious whether The Volcano or the volcano is intended, leading to confusion." I mean, DUH. Brutannica (talk) 19:04, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
