Name, family

[edit]

In researching Irish cycling figures who also took leadership and race organisation roles, I came across the Lallys, a prominent cycling family who did not so much do this, at least in Ireland. I note here that there should probably be 3-4 articles, one each for Sean, Tony (never Anthony) and Jimmy, and the son of at least one of these, I think Sean's, both of whom were electricians in their day jobs. Tony Lally moved to Australia later, I will check my notes for a reference on this. Twilson r (talk) 06:19, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Twilson - any extra info you can find will be must useful. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:00, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Lugnuts. I will do this. I believe I have seen you working on other cycling articles, and it is good to meet you. I have done a little work in this area as a kind of small project, as for health reasons, my editing is a little occasional. I now have three references on Tony Lally, and more on Sean (senior), his son John, and a little on Jimmy. I have also found a few notes on their father Mick Lally, and on a further member of the family, Connor. I would like to understand if there would be a problem having this article at Tony Lally (with a redirect from Anthony), as that would be the Common Name article title. The text could then begin "Anthony Lally is a..." Twilson r (talk) 08:26, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Glad to see this discussion; I knew two of the Lallys, and indeed this article should be entitled Tony. To be clear, Mick Lally was a great supporter of cycling and gave the sport three fine riding sons, and more, but, unusually for the honoree of a race name, was *not* a racer himself.185.129.93.34 (talk) 08:57, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I've moved the page to Tony, per the above. Hope that helps. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 09:08, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
