Deletion?[edit]

Does this really warrant an article? I did a search and didn't really find anything that wasn't a puff piece or something put out by the company. I found one article that briefly mentions TutorVista, but that doesn't really in itself mean it's notable. [1] Tokyogirl79 (talk) 07:28, 18 October 2011 (UTC)tokyogirl79[reply]

It is not notable enough yet. I support a deletion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Scroog123 (talkcontribs) 19:43, 21 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This seems like an advert. I too support deletion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chemistryhelp (talkcontribs) 14:37, 11 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It is more of an advert and Tutor Vista was purchased by Pearson and merged with its tutoring services, so it is doubtful it exists as described here. It should be merged with the Pearson article. Primofacts (talk) 17:48, 20 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Added advert tag[edit]

Parts of this page read like an advertisement, and are even lifted straight from the company's page. Phrases like the "leading online tutoring company in the world" and "Tens of thousands of students have used TutorVista to achieve their academic goals" (uncited and unverifiable) do not belong in an article claiming the neutral point of view. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Xoran99 (talkcontribs) 23:46, 5 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request to hang-on, I will remove any content that seems to be blatantly advertising. bosky101 15:32, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please atleast allow the history, and progress of the company to be kept . i will make sure that these parts are totally devoid of advertising.bosky101 15:32, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have assumed good faith and removed the CSD tag, I'll also edit out material that appears to be advertising. You'll need to address notability by providing multiple independent reliable sources, this article may be listed again under CSD G11 - advertising or nominated at {{WP:AFD]] so I recommend you address these concerns quickly. Gnangarra 11:56, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have added independent references, tangible resources, and given information for criticism as well - as an act of good faith. bosky101 11:56 + ~5 , 11 August 2007 (UTC)

I've added one reference, an SF Chronicle article, and removed the notability tag. The company is clearly notable: 100+ news articles according to Google archive, some in major publications. The article is about the company, not the web service specifically. Lots of people are apparently using its services nationwide. It got $12 million funding lead by Sequoia Capital, which is almost by definition notable. For a start-up technology company that's like winning an Olympic medal or Nobel Prize. Nevertheless it could still use better sourcing -- html sources would be better than .pdf, and no need to link to the company's own press releases. It's funding, for instance, is covered on forbes.com. Wikidemo 16:53, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
@wikidemo : thanks ...i've added cites from forbes.com, the economost, korean times (that are not pdf's) and will add a few more adding cites, references bosky101 15:32, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The recent bold edits [2] did remove some content, but overall they significantly improved the article in my opinion....so if anyone cares what my opinion is, good work! Wikidemo (talk) 00:18, 17 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

aside: i found it really fun to troll the tutors for free on their preliminary website

Tutor Vista Scam[edit]

Several Users of Tutor Vista have accused the company of a scam and fraudulent dealings. They accuse Tutor Vista for being unable to provide service and to charge the credit cards of parents without information. Also mentioned was that the company did not attend phone calls and there was no customer support provided. The company gives misleading advertisements on Google stating that their service was for free which was not the case at all. It was found that the company repeatedly asked for credit cards details upon asking a doubt of question which was actually supposed to be for free.

It is to be noted that the company uses four year old reputed media reports from FOX, NBC and BBC to highlight its trust worthiness and credibility.

Pearson bought this company[edit]

This company was bought by Pearson along with Educational Testing Service and a bunch of other companies which is merged and re-structured to some extent. Is Tutor Vista still a separate company? There should be a massive editing to merge the three Pearson company articles, Pearson, Pearson PLC, and Pearson Education. Additionally, companies Pearson purchased and changed should be listed in the single Pearson article that results instead of these small outdated articles about companies that may not really exist any more in the original form. The info gathered seems from the companies themselves, primary sources, that are not objective and misleading since they may be defunct and just exist on the web from earlier times. Primofacts (talk) 21:45, 12 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

it has been created with Couple for blatant promotions alone. Would be better being merged. as nothing notable to read as encyclopedia material. Light2021 (talk) 00:08, 1 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Support but I would not give more than half a line in the Pearson PLC article because the notability of TutorVista has not been demonstrated. Dormskirk (talk) 21:30, 1 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Merged in as there were no objections. Dormskirk (talk) 15:38, 4 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose – I have restored the TutorVista article, because as per the respective revision histories for both articles, nothing was actually merged. Rather, TutorVista was simply redirected to Pearson PLC, which is certainly not a merge. Upon reviewing the content at TutorVista, some of the content is sourced to reliable sources. North America1000 08:12, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have added more sources, including several reliable book sources, to the article that demonstrate notability. This qualifies for a standalone article. Also, I disagree with the notion of the article existing for "blatant promotions alone". For example, the article has a criticism section, which certainly does not promote the company. North America1000 08:25, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Don't merge - Tutorvista is not associated with Pearson anymore. Bengaluru-based edutech company Byju’s has acquired the online education ventures of TutorVista and Edurite from the world’s biggest learning company Pearson in June 2017. [1] 16:52, 10 October 2017 (IST)

Is TutorVista permanently closed?[edit]

Their phone number doesn't work and emails aren't responded to. If so, I think we should write so on the page.

It has to be. It just redirects to byjus.com
