Christmas edition?

[edit]

There was a 9th episode, a Christmas 1944 focused special that aired after the 1945 Harvest / VE Day one ... no mention of it here though? 146.199.0.164 (talk) 15:38, 23 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Brief details added to article. Wire723 (talk) 19:15, 23 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Anachronistic vehicles

[edit]

In view of the obvious efforts to recreate the WW2 context, the early appearance of a Field Marshall tractor that only entered service in 1945, and at the VE Day celebrations a Wolseley 4/44 available to the public from 1953, were surprising unforced errors. Field-Marshall or Marshall? The earlier Marshalls, very similar to the Field-Marshall but without the neatened "industrial designer" housing, were used throughout the war. They ran on diesel, not imported petrol, and often on almost any sort of biofuel oil that would flow. Unlike the multi-cylinder diesels that were appearing, temperamentally, the Marshall engine was much less fussy. Andy Dingley (talk) 16:40, 7 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
