Proposed merger

[edit]

I think Wiel Arets Architects should be merged here, as the scope overlaps. --Elekhh (talk) 11:14, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

As the articles stand at the moment, a merger would appear sensible but the other key architect in the firm is Bettina Kraus who has had quite a lot to say, for example, here. The article about the firm could be expanded along these lines - but I don't feel up to dealing with it myself at this stage! - Ipigott (talk) 10:35, 19 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe it should be the other way around. The notable projects all seem to date to a period after 1983 when the company Wiel Arets Architects was formed. I get slightly annoyed that architects and the companies they are part of, both take credit for the same projects. An alternative solution would be to significantly edit the Wiel Arets article to remove the substantial information about work that is not solely attributable to him. Sionk (talk) 13:06, 19 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Still, the company as such is attributed to him (with the exception of that tiny "s"). Of course all architects work in teams and have some form of registered business, but generally it is the main architect credited for most of the work. This is the case with Arets as well, with all books titled Wiel Arets as also demonstrated by Wiel Arets Architects#Bibliography. This is the only case I know we have two articles of the type "X" and "X Architects", the other cases being when the firm gives more credit to the team such as "X & Partners" or is a partnership "X & Y". I am not saying all this is just (I am very much in favour of crediting the team), just searching a way to solve the massive duplication we have at this stage. I can't see any part of Wiel Arets Architects which is not duplicated in Wiel Arets. I don't think a merger now should preclude a split at a latter stage when/if the firm becomes more distinct. --Elekhh (talk) 00:03, 21 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
