Etymology of surname?

[edit]

Genazino doesn't seem quite German, unless his ancestors somehow preserved some ancient Germanic-Gothic form...-~Sıgehelmus♗(Tøk) 19:06, 17 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Go ahead, find out. Many Germans come from elsewhere. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:19, 17 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oh certainly; I was curious because a French surname would suggest either Huguenot or Alsatian origin which is certainly common from historical context, but Genazino - considering its phonetic qualities - seems Italo-Iberian, which would be surprising since he's not Tyrolean as far as I read (although there were some Germans with Italian surnames from the confluence of Austria-Hungary's territories who married inward). I think it's fascinating, and perhaps his surname even suggests some ancient noble origin that stuck. I shall try to see, although I'm doubtful my efforts will be fruitful in this case.-~Sıgehelmus♗(Tøk) 21:42, 17 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
