I've seen more background for Vaughan, before Ireland, but have lost it again. Charles Matthews (talk) 11:03, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ancestry

[edit]

My impression is that Vaughan was a member of the Anglo-Irish Vaughan family of Derry. There is a Rev. Charles Vaughan, DD who matches the administrator of William's will, and who was supposedly the nephew of Sir John Vaughan, Mayor of Derry in the 1640s. However as this is basically OR I'll leave it here.Svejk74 (talk) 17:37, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This seems even more likely as Symonds states that Vaughan had two brothers, Charles, a parson, and James, a captain; these match Rev. Charles Vaughan who was the brother of Captain James Vaughan of Greencastle, Donegal, so a first generation Welsh settler family.Svejk74 (talk) 06:53, 8 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
