@Joshua Jonathan: This article needs to be a separate article, because Yoga philosophy school is not equivalent to the text, Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. The Yoga school of Hinduism has a lot of ancient and modern literature, discussing its epistemology, metaphysics, axiology, soteriology, and the rest. Your thoughts? Ms Sarah Welch (talk) 14:20, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

I definitly agree. The pint is, I separated the content of this article from Raja Yoga, and there-after moved it to Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Could you tell more about what "the Yoga school of Hinduism" is? Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 14:43, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
I agree with Sarah. I don't think the Yoga school is equivalent to the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.VictoriaGraysonTalk 15:06, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
JJ, I like the article split. For an introduction to "the Yoga school of Hinduism" and its other five schools, see Carl Olson's The Many Colors of Hinduism: A Thematic-historical Introduction Chapter 5 (Rutgers University Press, ISBN 978-0813540689). There is a lot more depth and literature on this school outside of Yogasutra. See, for example, Karl Potter's bibliography of the Yoga school of philosophy, on pages 1073-1093 of Encyclopedia of Indian Philosophies: Bibliography, Volumes 1-2 (Motilal Banarsidass, ISBN 978-8120803084). I will expand this article. Ms Sarah Welch (talk) 15:23, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

Should the Yoga Vasistha also be mentioned? And 500 BCE for the Brahma Sutras: isn't that way too early? Best regards, Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 06:04, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

Indeed, JJ. I will address these shortly. Thanks to @VG and you for keeping an eye, Ms Sarah Welch (talk) 13:23, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

what?[edit]

Who's idea was it to split the topic of Yoga between 'Yoga and Yoga(philosophy)'? This decision seems schizophrenic to me, considering the fact that what some may call "the philosophy" of Yoga actually explains the very reason that an individual would even take up the practice to begin with.
