Tara Station
Appearance
Tara Station (多良駅, Tara-eki) is a railway station in Tara, Fujitsu District, Saga Prefecture, Japan. It is operated by JR Kyushu and is on the Nagasaki Main Line. The limited express Kamome makes occasional special stops here during the Gatalympics. According to a 2005 estimate, the daily usage average is 297 people per day.[citation needed]
Layout
There are two tracks flanked by two platforms and a footbridge connecting them. It is minimally staffed, and often unmanned at night. Tara station lacks a MARS system and ticket vending machines, but a POS ticketing system is in place so the attendant can sell tickets.
History
- April 16, 1934 - Opening by Japanese Government Railways
- June 6, 1976 - Track from Tosu to Nagasaki is electrified
- April 1, 1987 - Railways privatize and the station is inherited by JR Kyushu
