The Interview (2014 film)[edit]

Improved to Good Article status by Captain Assassin! (talk). Self-nominated at 16:49, 22 July 2015 (UTC).

  • ALT0 is the most striking hook, and it is covered extensively in the article. The article just passed it's GA review. QPQ Done. No copy-vio found. Tweaked the hook slightly. Good to go. --Krimuk|90 (talk) 08:46, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
  • / ALT0 is entirely misleading, Krimuk90. Both this article and the "Sony Pictures Entertainment hack" article, which I nominated for DYK, leading to its promotion, does not say that the production was the direct or indirect result of the hackings on Sony Pictures. Also, ALT1 may encourage negative political bias toward North Korea. I am unsure about ALT2; it looks politically motivating. I don't know why the content of ALT3 is only in the lede, not the body content. Here are my proposed ALTs:
  • ALT5:... that due to hackings on Sony Pictures, the studio cancelled the wide theatrical release of The Interview but then, under pressure, released it online, resulting in $40+ million gross in digital rentals?
  • ALT5b:... that in the wake of hackings on Sony Pictures, the studio cancelled the wide theatrical release of The Interview but then released it online, resulting in $40+ million gross in digital rentals?
  • ALT6:... that music celebrities Jay-Z and Beyoncé were reportedly paid $10,000 each for cameo appearances in The Interview but do not appear in the film?
  • New reviewer needed to recheck the nomination and all the various hooks, since the original review only mentioned the original hook (aka ALT0). Unlike George Ho, I did find ALT3 facts in the body of the article, though I feel the hook has grammatical issues, as does ALT5b. (ALT0 was struck for the reasons noted above; ALT5 was struck because it is over the 200 characters maximum, and has the same grammatical issues as ALT5b.) • Here are more hooks below:
  • ALT7:... that after its theatrical release was shelved, The Interview was released online on Christmas Eve 2014, resulting in $40+ million gross in digital rentals?
  • ALT5c:... that after its theatrical release was cancelled due to the hackings on Sony Pictures, The Interview was released online on Christmas Eve 2014, resulting in $40+ million gross in digital rentals?
  • I think we can do better than ALT5c, as it's rather clunky and still mildly ungrammatical. I would suggest the following. Prioryman (talk) 11:18, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
  • ALT5d: ... that after the theatrical release of The Interview was cancelled due to Sony Pictures being hacked, it earned over $40 million from an online release?
  • New reviewer needed to recheck the nomination and all the surviving hooks, since the original review only mentioned the original hook (aka ALT0), which has been struck. I've now struck ALT3, ALT5c, and ALT7 due to grammatical issues; that leaves ALT1, ALT2, ALT5d, and ALT6 to be checked. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 17:50, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
New enough, long enough. ALT1 short enough and sourced. No neutrality problems found, no copyright problems found. QPQ done and image properly licensed. Where are the references for the plot and cast?--Launchballer 23:59, 13 September 2015 (UTC)
It is typical for plot summaries to lack sources. As for the cast section, what needs to be cited has been cited. sstflyer 11:00, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
