Broken?

[edit]

There seems to be a problem with this template, which makes the statistics on Wodonga, Victoria confusing:

Australian Bureau of Statistics (25 October 2007). "Albury-Wodonga (Wodonga Part) (Urban Centre/Locality)". 2006 Census QuickStats. Retrieved 2007-10-25.

(i.e. {{Census 2006 AUS | id = 24505 | name = Albury-Wodonga (Wodonga Part) (Urban Centre/Locality) | accessdate = 2007-10-25 | quick = on}})

takes one to Wondonga (Statistical subdivision), whereas presumably it should take one to Albury-Wondonga (Wondonga Part) (Urban Centre/Locality). [the URIs may or may not be correct as I've described them, but the destination is the same/the important bit.]

Is this fixable?

It's a misapplication rather than an error - the "id" should be UCL200400. Orderinchaos 16:24, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request from Pillerillern, 31 August 2010

[edit]

The description for the template isn't correct since it doesn't actually get the data it's only an easy way to get a source link to the data. Pillerillern (talk) 06:15, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done. I hope the result is clearer. Orderinchaos 07:18, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Categorise

[edit]

The template should be categorized into Category:Australian specific-source templates instead of Category:specific-source templates --Muhandes (talk) 14:55, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. And edit request template added. ClaretAsh 10:18, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've split off an unprotected template:Census 2006 AUS/doc where non-admins can keep the categories up to date. Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward) (talk) 16:06, 3 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request - ABS web has been redesigned.

[edit]

The ABS have rearranged their website, now all the links generated by this template to point to their pages need updating. I have modified template code and some rudimentary testcases are in the standard places. Bleakcomb (talk) 06:30, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request: Make accessdate parameter not required

[edit]

Could someone please update the template so that the |accessdate= parameter is not required?

Note that {{census 2006 AUS|id=UCL202600 |name=Ballarat (Urban Centre/Locality)|accessdate=|quick=on}} correctly generates:

Australian Bureau of Statistics (25 October 2007). "Ballarat (Urban Centre/Locality)". 2006 Census QuickStats.

However, {{census 2006 AUS|id=UCL202600 |name=Ballarat (Urban Centre/Locality)|quick=on}} generates a CS1 date error:

Australian Bureau of Statistics (25 October 2007). "Ballarat (Urban Centre/Locality)". 2006 Census QuickStats.

I just updated Ballarat to add an empty |accessdate= parameter to fix the CS1 error. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 01:15, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Cheers, LittleMountain5 04:58, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the speedy update! I've updated the documentation to note that the parameter is optional. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 17:13, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Little Mountain 5: Would you mind making the same change to the protected Template:Census 2001 AUS? I was able to change the unprotected Template:Census 2011 AUS. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 17:17, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, done. (It doesn't seem to be protected, by the way.) LittleMountain5 18:32, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again - guess I got confused looking at three templates at once. GoingBatty (talk) 01:50, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Request: Change Formatter URLs in 2006–2016 AUS census templates

[edit]

The ABS website has changed its formatter URL again, so the URLs generated by the template code need to be changed into the new link format below:

http://www.censusdata.abs.gov.au/census_services/getproduct/census/2006/quickstat/{{{id}}}
+
https://www.abs.gov.au/census/find-census-data/quickstats/2006/{{{id}}}

and

http://www.censusdata.abs.gov.au/census_services/getproduct/census/2006/communityprofile/{{{id}}}
+
https://www.abs.gov.au/census/find-census-data/community-profiles/2006/{{{id}}}

The 2011 census' wikidata page also seems to need to have its formatter URL updated. Happily888 (talk) 11:53, 2 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

 Done I was unable to figure out how to make the |map= parameter function. Is there a new URL for that service? – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:48, 2 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
