Tenille Dashwood[1] (born 1 March 1989) is an Australian professional wrestler, manager, model, better known by her ring name Tenille Tayla. She is currently signed to WWE, where she performs in its developmental territory NXT Wrestling under the ring name Emma.[3]

Professional wrestling career

Training (2003–2006)

Tenille was introduced into wrestling by her older brother Jake, when she was about 8 years old.[2] She involved herself in the Australian wrestling scene and did some training from the ages of 13 to 15.[6] In 2005, Tenille made some appearances for the Australian wrestling promotion PWA under the ring name Valentine. However, from the age of 16 to 18, Tenille was limited to merely setting up the ring at events and helping out after she suffered a severe shoulder injury. In 2007, she moved to Calgary, Alberta, Canada for a few months to train with Lance Storm at the Storm Wrestling Academy.

Independent circuit (2007–2011)

In the fall of 2008, Tenille returned to Australia. She wrestled for several promotions, with one of her most notable appearances being at Nightmare Wrestling, where she teamed up with Christy Hemme, Kellie Skater and Sara Jay to defeat the team of Traci Brooks, Vixsin, Sway and Aurora. In February 2009, Tenille also won PWA Queensland's first-ever "Queen of the Warriors" tournament, after defeating Shazza McKenzie, Jessie McKay and Kellie Skater.[7]

In early 2011, Tenille returned to Lance Storm's Storm Wrestling Academy for further training, during which she became one of the ten trainees featured on the World of Hurt reality television show.[8]

Dashwood made her debut for Prairie Wrestling Alliance on 25 July 2009, under the name Tenille Williams losing to Portia Perez.[1] In July, Williams began to manage Dylan Knight.[1] On 3 October, at a PWA event, Tenille teamed up with Knight against T-Bone and Krysta Lynn Scoot, the match ended in a double-count-out.[1] On the 16 October episode of PWA Tenille defeated Daffney and Scott in a triple treat match.[1]

At the Melbourne City Wrestling event on 10 June, Tayla teamed up with K.C Cassidy to defeat Shazza McKenzie and Eliza Sawy in a tag-team match.[1] On 9 July 2011, at a Melbourne City Wrestling Battle Ball event, Tenille turned heel early that night when she told her fans that she never needed the fans and Australia, later that night she was defeated by Shazza McKenzie in Tenille's last match in Australia.[9]

Shimmer Women Athletes (2009)

On 2 May 2009 Tenille made her in-ring debut for all-female American promotion Shimmer Women Athletes, at the tapings of Volume 23, losing to Amber O'Neal.[10][11] On 3 May 2009, Tenille defeated Jetta whom was accompied by Lacey after the match she was attacked by the Home-Wreckers (Rain, Jetta and Lacey). On the Shimmer Volume 26, Tenille was defeated by Rain whom was accompied by Lacey in a singles match.[1] On the Simmer Volume 27, Tayla was defeated by Malia Hosaka in a singles match.[1] On the Shimmer Volume 28, Tayla teamed up with Jessie McKay in a losing effort to the Home Wreakers (Rain and Jetta).[1]

On the Shimmer Volume 28, Tayla was defeated by "The Queen of Wrestling" Sara Del Rey.[1] On the Shimmer Volume 32, Tenille was defeated by Perez after a super kick.[1] On Shimmer Volume #34, Tenille defeated Athena and Teille teamed with Jessie McCay where they unsuccessfully challenged Portia Perez and Nicole Matthews for the Shimmer Tag Team Championship.[1]

Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling / ECCW (2009–2011)

She made her debut for the Canadian wrestling promotion Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling (ECCW) on 22 May 2009 under her real name. In her debut match Dashwood defeated Nicole Matthews to earn a shot at the SuperGirls Championship.[12] She challenged the then-champion Veronika Vice, but was unsuccessful. On 1 August 2009 at ECCW event, Tenille defeated Veronika Vice and Nicole Matthews in a 3-way match to win her first-ever ECCW Supergirls title. On 28 August at ECCW event, Tayla teamed up with Nicole Matthews to defeat Veronika Vice and Katrina Valentine.[1] On the 5 September edition of ECCW event, Tenille successfully defended the Supergirls title against Vice.[1] On 3 October at ECCW, Tenille defeated Vice to retain her championship and again on 30 October at ECCW event.[1]

Tenille held the championship until 27 November 2009 at ECCW event, when she lost it to Veronika Vice.[1] On 29 January at ECCW event, Tenille defeat Veronika Vice in non-title match, thus earning a title opportunity.[1] On 19 February at ECCW event, Tenille teamed up with Scotty Mac to defeat Veronika Vice and Bishop in an intergender tag-team match.[1]

On 19 March 2010 at ECCW' event, Tenille defeated Veronika Vice to re-capture the ECCW Women's Championship.[1] On the 28 May eat ECCW event, Tayla successful defeated Lylah Lodge to retain her title.[12] On the 19 June edition of ECCW event, Tayla competed against Vice but the match ended in a double count-out.[1] On 25 June at ECCW event, Tayla teamed up with Belle Von Black and KC Spinellis in a losing effort to Vice, Matthews and Danyah in a six women tag-team match.[1] On 10 July at ECCW event, Tayla defeated Matthews to retain her title.[1] On 23 July at ECCW event, Tayla teamed up with KC Spinelli to defeat Vice and Lodge.[1] On 27 August at ECCW event, Tayla was the special guest referee for the triple-treat match between Spinelli, Vice and Mattews.[1]

Dashwood dropped the title to Nicole Matthews in a Tables match ending her reign at 224 days, on 26 October at ECCW event.[12] On 8 December at ECCW event, Tayla unsuccessfully challenged Vice for the ECCW Supergirls Championship.[1] On 8 January at ECCW event, Tayla unsuccessfully competed in triple-treat match losing to Vice, also involving Spinelli.[1] On 12 February at ECCW event, Tayla teamed up with Red Money against Ray Brooks and Nicole Matthews in a winning effort.[1] On 25 February at ECCW event, Tayla was defeated by Veronika Vice in singles match.[1]

On 9 April at ECCW event, Tayla teamed up with Ravenous Randy in a winning effort defeating KC Spinelli, Pete Powers and Matthews, Ray Brooks in a triple-treat intergener tag-team match.[1] On 29 April 2011 at ECCW, Tayla competed against Veronika Vice in a winning effort.[1] On 7 May at ECCW event, Tayla was defeated by Nicole Matthews in a singles match, this would turn out to be her last match in ECCW.[1]

World Wrestling Entertainment / WWE

Developmental territories (2011–present)

In March 2011, both Shimmer and ECCW announced that Dashwood had signed a developmental contract with WWE after attending a try-out.[13] In July 2011, she announced that she was going to undergo shoulder surgery, which had caused her problems throughout her career.[14] She finally reported to FCW on 16 July 2012 and made her debut at their live event on 28 July in Melbourne, Florida in a Divas Battle Royal that also featured Audrey Marie, Paige, Raquel Diaz and Skyler Moon.[15] In August 2012, WWE dropped the Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) name and it now serves as the primary television program for the NXT Wrestling promotion.

Emma made her televised debut on the 28 November episode of NXT, where she competed against Audrey Marie in a losing effort.[16] Emma would debut a bad dancer gimmick as a heel on the 9 January edition of NXT Wrestling when she faced Paige in a losing effort.[17] Emma won her first match on the 17 April episode of NXT, defeating Bayley via submission with her new finisher named the Emma Lock, in which she would turn face in the process after getting massive cheers by the crowd.[18] Emma's success continued with a win over Audrey Marie on the 29 May episode of NXT.[19]

Personal life

Dashwood has an older brother named Jake, who introduced her to wrestling.[1] Tenille told Slam! Wrestling, "I always knew I would end up travelling for wrestling, and had saved almost every dollar I earned working up until this stage so I would be able to go whenever I was ready."
