"Tonight you belong to me"[edit]

Hi. I added some stuff to this article. This is my first edit. I don't really know how this works despite reading a good deal of 'read this before you edit' pages. So, could you look at what I added and help me out some? galeforcewind@gmail.com Thanks Galeforcewind 22:10, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

High altitude nuclear explosion[edit]

Thank you for your note. I would be pleased to add to this article, if only I knew anything about the subject. Paul, in Saudi 02:53, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Heh. Fair enough. aa v ^ 02:54, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Adminship Vote[edit]

I want to sincerely thank you for voting on my successful adminship nomination. Whenever I mess up, please let me know. I want to learn from my mistakes so they don't become patterns. Superm401 - Talk 07:19, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

no source images[edit]

Can you have another look at the images listed on User talk:CJMylentz? I just noticed the image on Riki Rachtman, which is clearly copyrighted (see http://www.rikirachtman.com/). I don't see any notes saying that it is free for use here. aa v ^ 16:02, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for reminding me of this user's images, I was able to eliminate a few more. -- user:zanimum

DYK[edit]

Updated DYK query Did you know? has been updated. A fact from the article Program 437, which you recently created, has been featured in that section on the Main Page. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

lay off it already[edit]

wtf is it with you and "leet"? you leave it for a couple weeks and then go and revert it when you think nobody's looking? why on earth are you carrying on so? can you maybe just leave the template and/or the article alone? i don't want to have yet another stupid "war" over this. it will have either the language box or the dialect box. you cannot possibly believe that it is neither. it is one or the other, please make up your mind, and stop reverting things. aa v ^ 18:15, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

OH, that is nice. It "will have either". That's a great attitude and nice posturing. I'll tell you what, I myself will put back either one if you can show any language authority which has given Leet status of either a dialect or a language. -- Netoholic @ 18:47, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
You make me feel like I shouldn't be editing. That, rather than stick to what I believe, and what I feel is correct, I should walk away and avoid the conflict here. However, that is harmful to the project. Imagine, if every time somebody got in a disagreement with you, they walked away. I have stopped watching Leet. I can't keep up with the changes anymore. But I won't be bullied by you. I can't make a unilateral decision here, because it goes against the principles of this community. As such, I am letting others give me, or both of us, advice on the situation. I resent your taunting, confrontational attitude. sic semper tyrannis. aa v ^ 18:59, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
My comment above was neither taunting, nor confrontational. Do not present anything in an article unless you can show that it agrees with a reliable source. It's all I ever asked of you, and in the WP:FARC of Leet, other's said the same thing. This is a basic philosophy of Wikipedia. -- Netoholic @ 20:47, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
My problem here is reconciling these two points:
  1. [Leet] is quite the nicest of many nice surprises I have found in my brief exposure to Wikipedia. (My thanks to Av.)
  2. I read all the history, and the critics have a major point about sourcing.
Could we possibly think about a template like, "Here there be Tygers", with a disclaimer that the following article is so contemporary that it may not be as authoritative as an encyclopedia article should be? This would be a policy change, of course, but we 'need' this type of article. --TJ 18:15, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

Fastfission[edit]

Fastfission is a friend and my message to him was meant for his personal consumption only. I am glad you are looking out for him. I am just requesting yet another lookup from him, since he has free access at school. I am just too cheap to get an account for myself, so I sponge off my friends. If there is any lesson in this, its that humor does not translate well into ascii characters. Thats what they invented unicode, so you can add emoticons. Next time, I will add a smiley face or some other appropriate tag so no one thinks we are really bickering. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) 20:32, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

I have just reread my message to him. What exactly are you taking offense to?

I am glad you are looking out for him. If you want to say hello write me at my external email and maybe all three of us can work together on a topic. Do you have gmail? I would love to try out the new chat feature. I worked with fastfission on a few articles and he looked up references for me on Carl J. Johnson. I looked up Robert Oppenheimer in the US census to see what the Oppenheimers actually called Robert, and I posted it to the biography. We were both suprised by the results. If you see fastfission online make sure he gets my message. He has not been seeing my gmails to him recently. Last week I finally received photos of Carl Johnson from his family, I better scan them and return them soon!

I'm working on a bunch of stuff, including nuclear weapons stuff, here. If you'd like to help, I could use it, certainly. aa v ^ 21:04, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

Re: POV vs. drastic[edit]

In the "Faith" section, he was adding stuff defiantly Hindu. His tone aided a POV.

The ONLY reason I reverted his edits were to protect the integrity of work that is going on the peer review - to protect FA standards. I have nothing against his contributions but I request him to discuss his ideas first. Rama's Arrow 03:39, 13 February 2006 (UTC)

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for taking the time to vote in my RfA, which passed with a final vote of 54/2/1 despite my obvious inadequacy for the job. I'll do my level best to use the mop and bucket — or, as I said in my RfA, plunger — responsibly. Of course, in the best tradition of politicans everywhere, I've already broken a campaign promise (I blocked a vandal last night despite having said "I don't anticipate using the blocking tool very often"). Nevertheless, I'll try not to let the unbridled power corrupt me. —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 14:56, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

Thank you[edit]

Hello Avriette, thank you for you support in my RfA. I was promoted with a final count of 48/1/0! If you see me making any mistakes, let me know ASAP. -- WB 02:34, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

edit comments[edit]

please try to use edit comments. you are editing pages i watch, and it's a pain to go and have to see each change. edit summaries help me spend less time going over my watchlist. aa v ^ 05:47, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

Which page are we talking about? I generaly make edits that wont fit the edit summary or edits that are minor enough to not warrant edit summaries. I generaly use the talk page if I need to explain myself which generaly is unnecesary as I am not a problematic user. In truth I am lazy so if you tell me the spesific article I'll be more carefull on that one. --Cool CatTalk|@ 00:32, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
Unfortunately, I am talking about all of them. I watch well over a thousand pages, manually. Regarding small changes, even when I change 'taht' to 'that' and submit the edit, I use the edit comment "typo." I once changed a whole slew of pages from "2th" to "2nd", and used the edit comment "2th -> 2nd", and left the edit "minor." It isn't hard to add edit comments, and it is generally viewed as responsible and important. aa v ^ 17:23, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
Well, I watch over all articles on wikipedia via my bot. I am generaly lazy and often forget edit summaries. It is something I am yet to get used to. :) --Cool CatTalk|@ 17:25, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

SIPRnet[edit]

Probably nowhere, however it's a superlative claim, which almost requires citation. 68.39.174.238 07:33, 18 February 2006 (UTC) PS. Is it just me or is reading about DoD network operations disillusioning?

And I don't sleep at night, hence the difference. 68.39.174.238 07:39, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

Commons[edit]

Hi, Free images are usually uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, since all other projects could use them without re-uploading on their servers. The duplicate image on wikipedia (en or otherwise) can be deleted, even if it was the original, as long as the licensing, attribution is correct. See Category:Images on Wikimedia Commons for such images. You might also consider directly uploading your free images to commons. Thanks, --PamriTalk 13:20, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
