Hello everyone. It's Dcdiehardfan here. I am an avid proponent of Wikipedia and think that its one of, if not the, greatest repositories of information ever created by humanity. I was always a Wikipedia lover really ever since I began gaining digital literacy when I was a kid, but was of course deterred from relying on Wikipedia too much because "anyone can edit it" and all such tenuous arguments. Either way, I was skeptical of those arguments as I recognized the core essence of Wikipedia was to maintain and foster a comprehensive information base that was freely accessible to everyone, something I wholeheartedly support. I did some IP editing until I finally decided to make my account on June 3, 2021 and be formally integrated into the Wikipedia community to be able to further contribute. I commend Wikipedia and its userbase for refining rigorous and effective methodology that ensures the best Wikipedia possible. I am very excited to be here!
Userboxes
The following userboxes can provide a better and more enlightening overview of me. Writing and describing myself can be surprisingly complicated, but these simple and concise userboxes can help.

I have many interests, and as such, spend my Wiki time editing catering to those. I have a huge desire to learn so I try to make constructive edits wherever I can, but particularly focus on topics I am passionate about and interested in. First, as you can probably tell by my username, I am a huge fan of DC Comics.[a] I have been a fan of DC and Marvel since I was a kid, enjoying all kinds of projects, but am a particularly avid fan of their respective cinematic universes, the DCU and MCU. I'll also like to add that I have also been a fan of Star Wars too as a kid. On that tangent, I'm also a cinephile in general, enjoying various Hollywood films, such as blockbusters, critically acclaimed films, and films that are director-lead (ie auteurs). I also enjoy listening to music, with my taste being fairly eclectic, I'd say: I gravitate towards classic rock, psychedelic music, 1960s-80s rock, jazz, a bit of R&B, and some contemporary music. Some of my favorite artists includes The Beatles, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Queen, Nirvana, and more. I am occasionally interested in politics, but my interest in it fluctuates, as my favorite topics tends to be geopolitics from WW1-WW2-Cold War, which I consider the perfect trifecta of modern politics. In addition to this, I am a bibliophile and love reading books, although this hobby has been diminished due to IRL activities, but intend on reading more in the future. Academically, I am fascinated with science in general, particularly physics and chemistry as I love learning about how the universe functions and why stuff does the stuff it does.

Styles and methods
[edit]It's really hard to describe my styles and methods on Wikipedia as it can range across many functions but I'll work on improving this over time obviously. My intention is to make every Wikipedia sitting as productive as possible. However, after analyzing my own contributions, I noticed I tend to be hyperfocused on a particular set of articles, with the intention of focusing on the minutiae and improving content wherever possible; I'm aware editors have many different styles, and I interpret my own as being depth over breadth, although I'm attempting to do the latter. I have to say, my attention span can be a bit short, so I can zone out mid-edit or something, which can undermine the productivity of a Wikipedia sitting or get demotivated, which is a BIG one. This is one of my shortcomings as an editor and I will work on it as best as I can, and I can be gone for long stretches of time, but you know, that's ok. I do plan on being a better editor though.
I usually work on articles relating to the MCU, DCEU/DCU, films, TV series, comic books, Batman, Star Wars, while also dipping my toes into other topics I'm passionate or interested in at the moment. I'm particularly trying to diversify the type of articles I edit so that way I get a lot more depth and can refine my approach. I'm slowly trying to edit more Physics articles and Music articles, such as tidying up stuff in things I like, such as a good U2 so that's missing a ref or something of the like, or if I need to ELI5 quantum chromodynamics. My newest trend is helping out with Good Articles and something I call a GA Samaritan. Who knows, maybe I'll stumble upon your potential GA or vice versa haha. I'll go check the main GA page and see if I can help expedite the process by editing boldly and trying to implement the GAR to the best of my abilities.
I specialize in formatting citations, particularly list-defined ones, and everything related, like tidying them up and archiving and all that. I'm good when it comes to inserting content when I have good sources, and I can usually find both pretty high-quality ones but also deep cut stuff. I usually tend to specialize in adding information for the Production section in TV show and movie articles, and to a lesser extent Marketing and Reception.
Over time, however, I've broadened and changed my editing style, becoming more sophisticated in my edits, focusing on exercising brevity, and using my extensive lexicon in order to make for better reading for audiences. This is true in a general sense that I improve over time, but also because I'm far more confident in my prose and writing abilities. I believe that I am a decent wordsmith and that I can make decent to high-quality writing depending on the ideas I have. I'm confident in my abilities particularly in terms of copyediting and trimming.
Sandbox
[edit]I created my sandbox page, which you can go to by clicking on this citation.[1] I am still trying to get the hang of Wikipedia, and one of my most ambitious goals in Wikipedia is to create my first article! I have a few ideas, but I won't start doing it yet. I still want to get a little more comfortable with Wikipedia before using my sandbox, and as such, creating my first article.
To-Do List
[edit]Editing Wikipedia is a complex list. Below are some general objectives that I plan on doing. I definitely need this because I tend to forget and procrastinate on things a lot.
- Refs for Standard Model
- Keep working on Dune: Part Two and prime it for GA
ZSJL for GAN redo, get Dune ready for GA, Ditto for Oppenheimer, maybe Barbie (?), help out FATWS by aiding it and co articles for GA
