The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum is a sports venue that opened in 1923.[1][2]

- May 7, 1959, an exhibition game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the 1958 World Series champion New York Yankees was held in honor of crippled former Dodgers catcher Roy Campanella. This game drew 93,103, which was a Major League Baseball record prior to 2008.
- The Coliseum also hosted the second MLB All-Star Game of the 1959 season (two games were held annually from 1959 to 1962).
- 1959 World Series games between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago White Sox. All games held at the Coliseum exceeded 90,000 in attendance. Game 5 drew 92,706 fans, a major league record for a non-exhibition game.

- March 29, 2008 and exhibition game was held at the Coliseum between the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers. The attendance was was 115,300, setting a new Guinness World Record for attendance at a baseball game. The previous record of an estimated 114,000 was in the 1956 Summer Olympics at Melbourne Cricket Ground for an exhibition game between teams from the USA Military and Australia.[5]

- April 27 Robby Gordon won a 2013 Stadium Super Trucks event at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

- July 25 the Coliseum hosted the opening ceremony of the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games. The ceremony featured performances by J Balvin, Becky G, Siedah Garrett, Stevie Wonder, and Avril Lavinge. A pre-recorded message by President Barack Obama was played, while First Lady Michelle Obama gave a speech in-person. The Special Olympics' Flame of Hope was used by Rafer Johnson (who lit the same cauldron at the 1984 Summer Olympics) and Special Olympian Destiny Sanchez to light the stadium's Olympic cauldron.[6]
- August 2, 2015 the Coliseum hosted the closing ceremony of the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games.
