Louise Alexandra Pentland (born 28 April 1985) is a British fashion, beauty vlogger, blogger, Youtuber and internet personality. She is best known by her fans and viewers on YouTube as SprinkleofGlitter.

Early life

Louise Alexandra Pentland grew up in Northampton. When Louise was a young child her mother died of breast cancer that had spread throughout her body. Louise posted a video in October 2015 titled, "My Pink Hair Story || Sprinkle of Glitter" where she goes into more detail about her mother's death. Her father later remarried and Louise suffered mental and physical abuse from her step-mother who also gave birth to Louise's half sister, Tiyana Francesca Pentland. While at school at Northampton High School, Louise experienced bullying.[3] In 2003, Pentland moved to Liverpool to study Psychology and Biology; she attended Liverpool John Moores University and graduated with honours in 2006.[4]

Pentland was working in a number of office roles when she began writing a craft and interior DIY blog named "Sprinkle of Glitter".[5] As of March 2015 the lifestyle, fashion and beauty blog has over 159,000 followers.[citation needed]

Pentland began her YouTube channel, also named "Sprinkle of Glitter", in January 2010 focusing on beauty, fashion and lifestyle related content, as well as her pregnancy.[4][6][7] The channel has since expanded to include motivational and advice videos, along with the previous content.[4][6] In August 2012, Pentland began a second channel named "Sprinkle of Chatter", where she uploads lifestyle vlogs.[6][8] Pentland has done many collaborations on her channel with other YouTubers, including: Zoe Sugg, Joe Sugg, Alfie Deyes, Louis Cole, Tanya Burr, Tyler Oakley, Troye Sivan, Grace Helbig, Phil Lester, Dan Howell, Caspar Lee, Jim Chapman and others.[9]

As of July 2015 Pentland's main YouTube channel has over 2.2 million subscribers and over 109 million video views; her second channel "Sprinkle of Chatter" has over 1 million subscribers and over 53 million views.[8][9][10][11] Pentland is influential in social media, with over 1 million followers on twitter and Instagram.[4][9][12]

Pentland has identified as a feminist[13] and interviewed Labour Party leader Ed Miliband during the United Kingdom general election, 2015[14]

She is set to publish a diary entitled Sprinkle of Glitter Diary 2016: How to Have the Best Year of Your Life through Faber Children in August 2015.[15][16]

Personal life

Pentland married teacher Matt Watson, on 4 September 2010; their daughter Darcy Jane Watson was born in 2011.[4][12][17] Pentland and Watson separated mid 2014 which Pentland announced on her blog, but both have stated they have split on very good terms.[18][19]
