Hello Anna,

I created my user page long ago and I have the right to create one under wikipedia's policy and guidelines. I have read some bad comments about the page by your colleagues under the deletion tab that you have posted. Please explain why my user page is considered for deletion? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Luqman Cheema (talkcontribs) 07:51, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Apart from your user page, you haven't made any significative edits to other pages. Having a user page is something right if you make contributions to Wikipedia and you want other users to know something about you. But if you aren't engaged to this project and you contribute nothing to Wikipedia, you can't have a user page. Wikipedia is not a free web host service where you can put your personal page and not contribute to Wikipedia in some way. For applicable policy refer to WP:NOTWEBHOST and WP:USERPAGE. I hope this explanation clarifies. Regards, Anna Lincoln 08:51, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok fine. I think it is necessary for one to contribute to wikipedia pages. I will surely do that from now everyday. If I do that would it be deleted anyway?. Secondly Your colleague should be saying bad words about somebody's userpage. That is just not ethical.? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Luqman Cheema (talkcontribs) 10:47, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The page has already been nominated for deletion and four editors have supported its deletion, so the page is very likely to be deleted any time soon no matter what you do now. I'd suggest you to start now editing and improving articles, to contribute to Wikipedia in any way that you can, and some time after that (maybe some days), once that it is clear that you are here to build the encyclopedia, then to create your user page again.
Related to your complaints about somebody making unethical comments, I assume that you refer to the comments on the page deletion nomination, but I don't find these comments to be unethical. In my opinion, people there are honestly saying what they think about the page.
Best wishes, Anna Lincoln 12:02, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Luqman, the best place for you to discuss this is on the page where the deletion discussion is taking place. Anna has quite correctly nominated it for deletion, and cannot control the result of the deletion discussion; neither is she responsible for the comments of others in that discussion (or for how you feel about them).   pablohablo. 12:24, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ревдинский доз

Dear Madam Anna Lincoln, This page cannot be treated as ads because this old Soviet/Ural company Revdisnky DOZ is not exist and there are very huge and empty premises left efter soviet union self decay. But it is may be very interesting for some people to know and see the legacy of Soviet era. Of course this place is not unique and there are many such free factories left by human. Analogue of this is Detroit production region in USA. Sincerely yours, Soloviev Sergey

ref# 13:32, 5 November 2009 Secret (talk | contribs) deleted "Ревдинский доз" ‎ (A7: Article about a company, corporation, organization, or group, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject) —Preceding unsigned comment added by SergeySSoloviev (talkcontribs)

The article has already been speedy deleted, and after that I can do nothing about it. The first problem was that the article was written in Russian, and this is the English Wikipedia. Other problem was that the article didn't justify by itself why the company was important, that is, why it should be included in an encyclopedia. Also understand that I didn't delete the article, I only nominated it and let an admin decide what to do, so my decision was backed by another very experienced editor. The applicable policy is WP:CORP, you should read it. I suggest you to rewrite it from scratch, in English, bearing all I said in mind. All the best, Anna Lincoln 07:55, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK Thank you —Preceding unsigned comment added by SergeySSoloviev (talkcontribs) 07:03, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wotif Game

Hi Anna,

I posted a brief description of the Wotif Game which is a genuine game that genuinely occurs every friday and the description was fairly accurate. It did not defame, embarass or incite any person, was not offensive and did not contain any advertising material. In fact, it was very mildly humorous and rather pleasant. Could you please reintstate the "Wotif Game" article?

Kind Regards,

Mysterious Enigma —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mysterious enigma (talkcontribs) 08:54, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Wotif Game is a game that you play with your friends, as it can be deduced from the text. The game is not notable, i.e. it is not important or famous enough to deserve an article in Wikipedia. For more information read WP:NOTABILITY. Regards, Anna Lincoln 08:59, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How many people partaking in a game would constitute the minimum necessary requirement for such a game to be included in the Wikipedia? This game sparks intense political, ethical and moral weekly debate within a community. I am aware of many games, sporting events and occasions documented on Wikipedia with lesser followings, which supposedly do not violate this rule. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mysterious enigma (talkcontribs) 09:03, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There is no such numerical minimum, however one of the key requirements is that it is covered by independent reliable third party sources, this is, it appears or is described in newspapers or books. A game made up by you and your friends one night is not "famous" enough to appear in media. See WP:VERIFIABILITY. All the best, Anna Lincoln 09:07, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion

Hi, i dont know why my page was marked for deletion. I have not copied it. I had written it long time back and the website in question has copied that from somewhere i had posted. whole article was written by me. Dont know how you check who is genuine and who has copied. Moreover, the article is not copyrighted.Afzalanis (talk) 09:42, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It was Basket of Puppies who nominated it for deletion, not me. I only reverted your removal of the deletion tag placed on the article. Instead of removing the tag, you should discuss the matter with Basket of Puppies on the article's talk page. Anna Lincoln 09:49, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

User:Jimmyboy 508

Looks like this new user is trying to create redirects. I've given him some advice on how to do this. Rather than tagging, it would be better if you converted them to redirects yourself if you come across any more like this, and maybe advise the editor on how to create a redirect if necessary. Mjroots (talk) 11:37, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, I didn't notice, I thought he was creating empty articles with a spammy link to pages outside Wikipedia to increase their search index, because he was using the full http:// url. I'll be more careful in the future, thanks, Anna Lincoln 11:44, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, I've also given him a bit of advice about removal of CSD templates. Mjroots (talk) 11:46, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Drew Bell

Hi, and thanks for nominating Drew Bell for deletion. In future, if you tag something for copyright violation, please can you include the url? It makes life easier for the investigating admin. You can add it after the equals sign in the template: {{db-copyvio|url=insert url here}}. Thank you! Stephen! Coming... 12:08, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I normally include the URL, but in this case, I nominated the article because it contained the texts "Copyright (C) some company" and "(C) year company" (I don't remember well) at the bottom, so the copyright violation was obvious. See you around, Anna Lincoln 12:11, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again Anna!

I declined your speedy deletion nomination of this article, as it is a (charting) single by a notable artist. Regards, decltype (talk) 15:11, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed, I missed this one. Thanks :-) Anna Lincoln 15:31, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. Keep up the good work! Regards, decltype (talk) 15:34, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
(unrelated comment) By the way, I really like Fucking Åmål too. It's a sweet film :) Regards, decltype (talk) 15:37, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it's a beautiful love story. I've also seen Lylja 4-ever from the same director, and I liked it too. Anna Lincoln 15:44, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't seen it, I've heard that it's depressing. I prefer films that are uplifting :) Regards, decltype (talk) 15:51, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I just came here to ask anna a question, but noticed the fucking amal love and had to chime in. That movie is seriously life-defining for me, easily my favourite film ever. Together and lilya-4eva are also very good - if you havent seen it, 'together' has alot of the same sweet, gentle humour that made fucking amal so good. moodysson has a new film "mammoth" coming out soon, im hoping it doesnt disappoint. Just curious anna, did you noticing me and sending me a welcome message have anything to do with me editing the fucking amal (listed as show me love on WP) article, or is it just a co-incidence? --Brunk500 (talk) 14:41, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

to add to that- would be great to get 'show me love' up to FA standards- any takers? im not experienced enough to do it myself. --Brunk500 (talk) 14:43, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I almost missed your message. I don't remember well how I came across you, probably as you say because you edited Show Me Love, as I have it on my watchlist. Yeah, it would be nice to have it raised to FA. Regards, Anna Lincoln 10:08, 17 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ash trees

Hello Anna,im unsure why my page on The Countess Aife is up for deletion? I created the page having found info in some magazine about the Countess but it was quite vague and i was hoping if i wrote it up on wikipedia that someone might take the page on the Countess and edit it. it seems like a fair enough idea to me, i hope you agree? maybe if over time no one edits it than it would make sense to delete it but until then i hope we can keep the site. Kind Regards, Ash Trees

Hello. I nominated it because I didn't found any online sources about her [1] and it looked like a hoax to me. Given that she was born in 1994 and that the article mentions her being referenced by tabloids, I expected to find some online media coverage on her. Can you provide the source you mention? Thanks, Anna Lincoln 11:38, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well you see Anna my friend, thats just the problem, i honestly can't for the life of me remember WHAT newspaper or even magazine!I'm awfully sorry! this is my first wikipedia article and i really am just learning. if i find out more info and edit the article again do you suppose it would be ok? i was hoping a fellow wikipedian would have some information on this article and might edit it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ash trees (talkcontribs) 11:53, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's very strange what you are saying. Yoy created the article today by starting from a paper magazine, but you don't have it and can't remember the details of the publication. Anna Lincoln 12:01, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AIV report for Charrie1211

Hello again Anna, and good work on the RCP you've been doing, you keep popping up on my watchlist :). Regarding Charrie1211, You seem to be removing the speedies you placed on their page creations. Do you mean for the AIV report to still be there? (see my comment at WP:AIV) Best, - Kingpin13 (talk) 12:10, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Kingpin. The edits are not vandalism, it's just that the creator didn't mention that the articles were about Philippine movies by a notable producer. I added a single line explaining that to all them. Regards, Anna Lincoln 12:16, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's great, you might also want to mark them as stubs if they are? I presume they could be expanded? Also, I'd suggest you leave the creator a note, so they don't make the same mistake again, and consider removing the warnings (even if they were correct at the time, the user is acting in good faith, and lots of warnings for the same thing may put them off). But thanks for expanding the articles :) - Kingpin13 (talk) 12:24, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I'll tag them as stubs. I've left a note to the user and removed all my warnings. See you, Anna Lincoln 12:33, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I notice that you have placed "This biographical article needs additional citations for verification. Please help by adding reliable sources. Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately, especially if potentially libelous or harmful." to the article I have created. But... the person isn't alive. Is there anything I can do? I already put 2nd english language reference to the page. IHaveaSpoon (talk) 10:11, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

me

dear anna,

I request you to consider the contribution i have made to wikipedia as the article is about an important personality in the field of business journalism. I have seen a large number of pages on Wikipedia about people who have barely done anything significant. The noticed that wikipedia does not carry an article of the person in my article whereas has articles of several people working below him and hence inititaed the article. Pls consider. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kritikasaxena161 (talkcontribs) 10:56, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. For the article on the person to be kept, he must be notable, that is, he must have been the subject of coverage by reliable third-party sources. Please provide some sources that talk about him and he will be likely to be kept. Note that argumenting that other people have their articles does not make him notable and is not a valid argument. Thank you. Anna Lincoln 11:09, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The meaning of it is to see how more experienced editors deal with newbies that create new articles. I apologise that I have spent your time. You can discuss about this in Wikipedia:Newbie treatment at CSD/Ilyushka88 where I have explained how things were going with the articles I created.

I have a very positive feeling about how you interact with new users. Thank you for being nice.

Whatever ... I know the original history of SexEducation.com/org/net because I was the original owner.. I do not care who you are or how u block me you can not stop the facts they will come out eventually but I would like some help to make it neutral —Preceding unsigned comment added by OriginalOwnerSE (talkcontribs) 10:33, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! To learn how to write neutral articles, read WP:NPOV. The web must be notable enough to appear at Wikipedia, read WP:WEB. Your statements should be backed by third-party independent reliable sources, read WP:V. Finally, you should be careful when writing about sites directly affiliated with you, read WP:COI. You can find more interesting links inside {{welcome}}. Regards, Anna Lincoln 10:39, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Okay... I have created a "personal page" which I understand stays within the Wikipedia community for discussion but does not show to the general internet. I have NO doubt that this effort will take "sentence" by "sentence" approval by the community. I am asking for help. I do NOT have any financial interest or connection to the current owners of SexEducation.com NOR do I personally believe it will ever be developed into anything more then a "portal" . This is a result of current global thinking. And that is the point of why the history of SexEducation.com needs to be written. —Preceding unsigned comment added by OriginalOwnerSE (talkcontribs) 17:25, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Altered Speedy Deletion rationale: Besly

Hello Anna Lincoln, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I have deleted a page you tagged (Besly) under a criterion different from the one your provided, which was inappropriate or incorrect. Took a couple of cracks at the article. Appears to be Norwegian with some slang, some borrow-words, and a bit of English peppered in. Content itself appears to be promotional (The Youtube and Facebook links) and vandalistic. I've nominated it for a speedy deletion as promotional based on said links, FWIW. If you adopt that German allegation that PublishAmerica is a mere self-publishing I propose to eliminate any hint. I also contacted Hans Atrott. technical question- task monitoring

I was reading a page but had to close it down, can't find it again, have searched fairly extensively - basically from memory it was about how to put a template on your own userpage which sends you maintenance tasks to do. any idea what im on about and where to go for that info?

oh also- when adding to discussion pages on articles and pages like this- whats the usual protocol? im assuming its slotting it in in alphabetical order for article discussion pages, and newest last for user's talk pages- is that correct? thanks, cass --Brunk500 (talk) 14:50, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Cass, sorry for the delay.
When adding messages to talk pages, you are expected to always add your new messages at the bottom of the talk page, no matter if it is an article talk page or a user talk page. It's easy to do this if you click the button "new section" or "+" at the top of the screen.
Regarding the lost page, I only found the page Wikipedia:Maintenance, which lists pending maintenance tasks, but says nothing about listing them on your user page. Maybe it would be a good idea to ask your question at Wikipedia:Help desk, where I'm sure other experimented editors will know about it.
Best wishes, glad to help if you have more questions, Anna Lincoln 08:31, 17 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I want the article, that I created removed from here. Annika Väisänen is the article. Do not return it. I want to remove it! --Linnea78 (talk) 10:15, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article you created has been modified by several users since, and you cannot have it deleted because of that and because now you don't own it (see WP:OWN). It has been nominated for deletion and it cannot be deleted (or kept) until the deletion discussion finishes. Anna Lincoln 10:20, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Anna, I really do not see why telling people about a 404 error is unconstructive. I thought that the person posting the link could see my edit and refer to the working page. But anyways, thanks for telling me I shouldn't do that. Greetings, Chris —Preceding unsigned comment added by 145.18.135.45 (talk) 10:42, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My fault, I see now that you were a good intentioned user trying to tell that the link was broken. Instead of writing "DEAD LINK" in the article, you should have better removed the link yourself. I have removed the warning from your page and the broken link from the article. Thanks for editing. Anna Lincoln 10:48, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
