new pages patrol

Thanks for your generally excelllent work here, but there are some problems.

  1. you must use an edit summary containing the words "speedy deletie" or the equivalent whenever you tag the article, to make it easier for administrators (and other editiors) to find them. Using such a summary is a requirement
  2. you may have been going too fast, because Shankar sarda should not have been tagged. A good faith attempt at an article should not be tagged the same minute it is entered--only obviously totally unsuitable articles incapable of possible improvement--as is the case for almost all of he ones you quite correctly did tag.
  3. Now, that article asserted authorship of several dozen books. such a statement is a very clear indication of importance, even if the article has no references, and passes speedy. Publishing even a few books by reputable publishers is considered enough to pass Speedy. If sources for reviews are added, its often enough to pass AfD. In this case, with multiple books, including awards, and some references already present, it certainly will.
  4. Please be aware of the different standards for speedy and afd. AfD needs importance demonstrated by 3rd party sources. Passing Speedy requires just an indication of some plausible importance.

Keep up the good patrolling. 17:18, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

Attack pages

Hi. When you tag a page {{db-atk}}, like Steven perry just now, it's a good idea also to replace the whole content with the word "blanked" - that means the attack material is removed from display at once (though of course it's still in the history till the page is deleted) and the attacker doesn't get the satisfaction of seeing it. Comment

Exuse me, but why are you deleting my pages? —Preceding unsigned comment added by ILager (talkcontribs) 20:44, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

deleting pages is illegal, just like the University of Utah

New page... Thank you!

I am a new Wikipedia contributor and just created my first page. I took to search to make sure it was actually new material and made sure to put in some references to establish relevance and authenticity. Kingpin13 added some formating, teaching me a new html trick. Thank you. Mwalla (talk) 21:13, 16 January 2009 (UTC)mwalla

"Religion of Susquehanna"

Hello,

My name is Randy Robertson. I'm a professor of English at Susquehanna University, and I am teaching a course on the history of media. One of my assignments for the class is that we create our own religion. The point of the exercise is to show students how sacred texts can accrue material over time, some of which is inconsistent with what was there before.

It is also, however, a serious attempt to define the values of the class. As students will be students, the initial comments in the entry will be frivolous, but my hope is that over time it will become more serious, and that as a class we will build a page that will stimulate thoughtful discussion. It was originally titled "Religion of Susquehanna," but because Susquehanna's Board of Trustees might get upset about that, I propose to call the entry "A New SU Religion." I hope that you let this page stand. Many academics are hostile to Wikipedia; I like using it as a learning tool in the new media world, where movements can be created online before they exist in the "real world." If you would like to discuss any aspect of this proposal further, please feel free to contact me at robertson@susqu.edu.

Sincerely, Randy Robertson (talk) 00:59, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Possible sock?

Look at the history of the article you just (rightly) nominated for speedy. Right after you put the tag on it, a new user was created and restored the content. I'm t hinking User:Potheli is probably a sock of User:Thorran? Politizer talk/contribs 08:20, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

The Racer

Hi Kingpin13. About the speedy deletion, Iam busy with the article about the Westland Wizard. It would be finished in a few hours. Can I remove the tag? Regards Slapsnot (talk) 12:59, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

While I might agree that a CSD was in order for this article, it certainly wasn't an "attack page." The subject is a fictitious character related to another character: Donna Freedman. --| Uncle Milty | talk | 15:39, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

I don't think it was an attack, if it really was about a dog. Delete worthy in any event, as appears to be nn,with no assertion of significance, ruffly speaking. Dlohcierekim 19:55, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Thank you

(SF.net) Thanks for tagging a suspected useless page. It was meant to redirect, but I stuffed up the coding. It is now fixed, do not delete it. :) Flaming Grunt 08:07, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

I would recommend that you do not tag his pages as nonsense - they all fail the inclusion standard but are good faith additions written in Filipino. • \ / () 09:19, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi. I can understand you tagging this page immediately after I did - that's easy to do - but your warning to the user wasn't added to his talk page but over-wrote what was already there, including a welcome paragraph. That doesn't seem a good thing; you were using NPWatcher, which I don't know - is this a bug in it? Regards, JohnCD (talk)

Hi, edit summaries like this one are not helpful and unprofessional. Please refrain from such childish acts in future. Remember, don't bite newbies. --Crusio (talk) 18:20, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

  • Don't worry too much about it, happens to anybody (me included...), especially if you're dealing with a bunch of SPAs like in these two AFDs. Just good to be aware of it. :-) --Crusio (talk) 18:31, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Rollback

I have granted rollback rights to your account; the reason for this is that after a review of some of your contributions, I believe I can trust you to use rollback correctly by using it for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback and Wikipedia:Rollback feature. If you do not want rollback, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Good luck and thanks. –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 15:49, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Removing copyvio does not equal vandalism

You have just given 83.80.18.68 (talk · contribs) a level 2 warning (vandalism) for the edits to the article Jamal Khashoggi. For the record, that was me while not logged in. The section I removed violated the copyrights of the Saudi-US Relations Information Service. I don't see why you would give someone a level 2 warning for removing copyvio's, particularly not when I've explicitly mentioned it in the edit summary. The least you could do is to actually check the copyright status before warning someone. AecisBrievenbus 11:45, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

History of Terrorism

Without explanation? i have explained in both the edit comment and the talk page, perhaps you should try reading them before accusing people of vandalism.

T.F.

Just a friendly note on T.F.. I declined the speedy deletion request because being the sixth largest in Europe is a good faith claim of importance. If it's not notable, try prod or AfD. Cheers!--Fabrictramp | talk to me 18:53, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Samantha Mantel Blanked by creator

Please remember to use the db-blanked template at page's blanked by the page creator, such as Samantha Mantel, I respect that this is difficult when using huggle, but you should still check the history, cheers SpitfireTally-ho! 20:56, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Chris Doss

I want to start off by thanking you for your work in Wikipedia. It looks like you've done quite a bit of weeding out. That being said, it looks like (from your talk page), you've tagged articles in for speedy deletion incorrectly in the past. You recently tagged Chris Doss for deletion as a db-bio. The page claimed that he was the coach of WVU basketball and had a 200-0 record. This would certainly make him notable as you would find a large amount of articles about an undefeated WVU basketball coach. I retagged it as a db-vandalism as the information is completely false. Again, thanks for your time on wiki and you're certainly making edits in good faith and for the better of Wikipedia but using the incorrect db tags can extend a bad articles life considerably. Thanks again. OlYellerTalktome 19:29, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

My edits are not vandalism; they are removals of statements that contradict the sources. See the talk page.
