You have recently vandalized a Wikipedia article, and you are now being asked to stop this type of behavior. You're welcome to continue editing Wikipedia, so long as these edits are constructive.

Please see Wikipedia's Blocking policy and what constitutes vandalism; such actions are not tolerated on Wikipedia, and are not taken lightly.

We hope that you may become a legitimate editor and create an account.

Again you are welcome to Wikipedia, but remember not to vandalize or you will soon be blocked from editing. Izehar (talk) 13:30, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. If it is a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If the page has been vandalised, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. Please stop blocking this address

This address is needed for students at 193.39.158.195 which is a proxy server belonging the City of Edinburgh Council. This provides an opportunity to the students of Edinburgh to make their voices heard within an encyclopedia. Please refrain from blocking. — 193.39.158.195 11:33, 14 March 2006 (GMT)

I'm not an expert, but I would have thought that in case of a shared IP address like this one, locks were based on the average quality of the contributions. This user's contributions are mostly vandalism. I don't think it's worth the few genuine contributions if it means constant maintenance efforts from everybody. What's the official policy here? Thanks. PizzaMargherita 11:54, 14 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If such students registered, they would be able to contribute even when 193.39.158.195 was blocked, wouldn’t they? -- Ian Spackman 12:27, 14 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure, would they? It's a difficult one, because then vandals could register too. As I said, this is a new area for me, so any replies would be welcome. Thanks. PizzaMargherita 13:12, 14 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please, this address is needed for students in the City of Edinburgh Council proxy area of 193.39.158.195. Please unblock this address. — Administrator, 193.39.158.195 13:32, 14 March 2006 (GMT)

Dear 193.39.158.195, could you please provide a list of non-vandalising contributions made by this user? Thanks. PizzaMargherita 13:50, 14 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, there were a couple earlier this month: to Oxford University Student Union and Oxford University Labour Club. That makes me decidedly wary of assuming without better evidence that this IP is serving large numbers of Edinburgh schoolchildren. (By the way I was quite wrong in imagining that blocking an IP only blocks anonymous users, although there is a proposal that such a block should be made available under discussion at Wikipedia:Blocking policy proposal.) -- Ian Spackman 01:38, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your contribution, but we are trying to write an encyclopedia here, so please keep your edits factual and NPOV. Some readers looking for a serious article might not find them amusing. Remember, millions of people read Wikipedia, so we have to take what we do a bit seriously here. If you'd like to experiment with editing, use the Sandbox to get started. I hope you can help us out!
