Thanks for the info. Is there a particular reason why 'mini-album' information should not be displayed? What's the basis of that rule? Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fresh2017 (talk • contribs) 12:19, 13 March 2017 (UTC)
- No problem; and regarding that I am not entirely sure it is just WP consensus as far as I am aware, you can see it frequently on most artist pages.Abdotorg (talk) 12:23, 13 March 2017 (UTC)

Lot of refferences is valid because for example sellings from January =/= current(last) month February If u want to post references from current month (February) just click on gaon monthly / change date to January / and now change link to 01 from 02 / same with years — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jarek1101 (talk • contribs) 09:43, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

Loona contributions
Hello, thanks for pointing that out. I just didn't know how to reference so I guess I expected the same that happenned in Love&Live to happen in the other articles: another user would fix the references. I appreciate the help. Also, I am not a native English speaker so forgive me if there are any mistakes. IngridRea (talk) 16:42, 30 April 2017 (UTC)

Hi User:Abdotorg, you are doing so much good work on Korean rappers (and K-pop in general)!!! Take a look at the cropped photo I added of Reddy. I uploaded the original version, too (see at Commons). Question - do you think this particular cropped version makes him look short or is weird? If so, I can crop it again and add more to the top and bottom. I always agonize over enlarging and cropping, as I am not a real photographer. P.S. - when I added the External link on his page for Commons, I saw you have multiple social media listed - this will probably get removed by other editors, as I think the standard is one only WP:ELOFFICIAL. I know this because I've been caught doing it and had this section referred to me....hahaha...I think I learned best by making mistakes! Anyway, let me know if I should change the cropped version, or you may select any of the photos yourself and change to the profile.--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 18:08, 1 May 2017 (UTC)
- Ahh! Thank you that is very sweet of you to say:). Also the image looks perfectly fine to me! I always leave finding images out when I am creating articles because I have no idea where to start lmao, thank you for being so helpful and also for reminding me about consensus ah I am always so used to adding some form of social media that I forget hah! Abdotorg (talk) 18:26, 1 May 2017 (UTC)
- You're welcome. I changed to another cropped version anyway, it was driving me crazy! You couldn't have found the photos when you created the page, I just took them last night.--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 19:06, 1 May 2017 (UTC)

Shinee discography
Hey I wanted to help to improve the following article. I might even create an account for it. I've seen the Girls' Generation discography is a featured article that's why I want to take it as an example but I'm not sure what to do. The Shinee discography page lists all kind of digital download sales even for songs, which are not the main tracks, and they all have sources so I'm not sure if I'll end up doing something against the rules if I delete all of it. SNSD only have certifications and album sales listed. I would be thankful for some tips. Dr.K. recommended you so I hope you can help me. --2A02:8108:1440:2870:A939:5250:A307:89D4 (talk) 09:57, 15 June 2017 (UTC)
- Hi talk! I am more than happy to help, although in the category of sales vs certificates I am unsure what you are looking to change. It is probably a good idea to mention this on the Shinee discog talk page before making any major changing, and using SNSD's article as an example is definitely a good idea. BtoB awards
Hi! Please do not revert my revision the awards that KPop group BTOB received. BEST OST is still an award, notable or not (as what you said). And if you are claiming that the said award is not notable, you have to search for all other KPop groups out there and put the awards they received in careful scrutiny. However, I appreciate your efforts. Thank you and have a nice day. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zion 21 (talk • contribs) 13:18, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
- Hi, I am not very familiar with award notability unless it is coming from the likes of Soompi which is directly turned down by WP:KO/RS, I point you towards user:Snowflake91 as I am sure they can explain to you what is and is not considering a 'real award'. Abdotorg (talk) 13:24, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
- Please just let it be, Okay? If that's your point, you have to do it to all Kpop groups. AWARDS ARE AWARDS, major awards or not. Like the awards came from International K-Music Awards, not only BTOB has an award came from them. Other Kpop groups have them also. But they do consider it as an award. Almost all awards are web-based voting, even the one of the most famous MNet Asian Music (MAMA) Awards. This should be the last. Be fair, be considerate. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zion 21 (talk • contribs) 14:33, 23 June 2017 (UTC)
- As I said before: please see WP:KO/RS, I am unsure if the awards are un-notable but that is not the problem; the problem is your chosen sources of reference. To expand on why you references cannot be accepted: Wikipedia can not be used as a reference within itself, NowKpop and Japakomusic are English language K-pop websites, and music videos on Youtube are not a source. Please cite reliable sources when editing articles. Abdotorg (talk) 13:42, 23 June 2017 (UTC)

Help
Dear Abdotorg-nim, Firstly I am trully sorry, I dont have any motivation to vandalism. First i am new about editing on wikipedia and i am sorry to edit your revision of WINNER, please dont be angry to me, and I am sorry for my bad english (english is not my mother tounge language). Can you help us to revise about WINNER Filmography-Television appearance, because as Inner Circle we knew that WINNER has a lot. I dont know the reason for the revise of their filmography-television appearance (being only a few now on wikipedia). Before and after Thank you for your kindly attention and all. Once again I am verry sorry. Regards, -cherol@bowny234- — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bowny234 (talk • contribs) 14:19, 17 June 2017 (UTC)

Hey
Hello ! So i'm kinda new on wikipedia (4 months or so) and all i do is updating the disbanded group, debut groups and solo, departures ans joining from 2006 to 2016, so i never uploaded any info on any group (well except play the siren, cupid, sistar19 and qbs, but it was hell burns) can u explain to me why does it works that way concerning the chart? Why do we take the position on the digital charts? Isn't that silly, sales are from the download chart and so should bee the peak position so why is it not like that? (i'm talking about my laboum revert and all - u see what i mean?) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Similardi (talk • contribs) 20:19, 24 July 2017 (UTC)
- Hello! so Gaon has one of the most simple systems out of any music chart I have ever used; single charting is taken from two places, the digital chart which holds the official charting numbers based on both online and offline purchases, use the most up-to-date chart as an example (so if you click [1] you will see Zico at number 3), whereas on the download chart it is counting just that, the downloads (so if you click [2] you will see Zico at number 2). So basically although Heize outdid Zico on the digital chart, she did not do so on the download chart. Charting has always been taken with rank from digital and sales from download, that is just how it works. I hope this makes sense. Abdotorg (talk) 19:34, 24 July 2017 (UTC)
- Hey again :p Well i kind of see what you mean, so someone who rank better on the digital chart than someone else who ranked better on the download chart (like zico - heize) means that that person still sold more even if she got less downloads ? tHX For helping me btw ^^ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Similardi (talk • contribs) 08:23, 25 July 2017 (UTC)
WP links as sources
Hey, Hey it's me again ~ We can't use wikipedia links as sources ? :/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Similardi (talk • contribs) 19:01, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
- Ah no nno, in fact not at all, wikipedia is seen as an infomation database in which you find the sources you need, so the references in wikipedia are what make it notable, not wp articles alone. if you are looking for a specific reference I have a moderate understanding of korean and am happy to help. Abdotorg (talk) 18:06, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
- You are my sensei here it seem xP I asked for several other people but they all talk rudely :/ Thx for the help !! I won't use any wikipedia links sources xP — Preceding unsigned comment added by Similardi (talk • contribs) 18:13, 27 July 2017 (UTC)
Hey
I have rewritten the article for Monsta X and would like to ask you to look over it if you have time. I'm not sure if I have removed all irrelevant stuff. I tried to include only the most necessary information but I don't really know much about the group. Also there are still some sources missing for the variety shows section, I have looked everywhere I could think of and didn't find anything useful maybe you have more luck.--Thebestwinter (talk) 19:58, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
- Hello! So I just looked over the rewrite and it is a hell of a lot better than prior, that is for sure! I have been meaning to do the same for way too long, thank you for all the improved refs. On the topic of variety/reality show refs I will have a look later, but since the series' are all available directly from 1theK's Youtube channel it should not be that much of a problem. Thanks again, and if you need anything you know where I am!^^ Abdotorg (talk) 15:22, 29 July 2017 (UTC)

Info
Hello, can you help me to answer some question about adding information? firstly, what important criteria to adding endorsement section on Monsta X and other article from kpop? coz with one article and other article not same for sentence and information. I hope you understand what i'm saying, kkkkkk, thank you ^^ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fenny novita (talk • contribs) 04:16, 3 August 2017 (UTC)
- Hello! I am probably not the best person to ask about this sort of stuff, the only endorsements section I have ever written is Loona_(band)#Endorsements and even then it is super minimalistic, I think as long as you explain what the endorsement is for and what is being promoted through it or why it is notable, and of course have a reliable source to back it up then that should be good enough. Possible discussion about hiatus sections?
Hi! I see you make a lot of edits to pages within Wikipedia:WikiProject_Korea and was wondering your opinion about sections for hiatus' within pages such as 2017 in South Korean music (see 2016 in South Korean music for an example of what I mean). Personally I think they're not needed as you'd also have to add sections for artists returning from hiatus, soloists/group members leaving and returning from hiatus (such as their military enlistment), as well as looking for which groups are actually on hiatus and not just taking longer to release new matierial an so on. What's your opinion on this? (My apologies if I'm wrong on anything here, I'm still relatively new to wikipedia and still learning.) Thanks, Alexanderlee (talk) 13:20, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
- Hello! I completely agree with what you are saying, it is definitely not necessary to have a hiatus section, especially considering hiatus status was never officially announced for most of the groups featured. I will remove the hiatus section myself and we will go from there depending on the reaction. Abdotorg (talk) 16:50, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
HeeJin
Hi! Please, could you find a reference that confirms the fact that HeeJin is Loona's leader? My korean is still limited and I just found a ref that confirms HaSeul as 1/3's leader. ~Solstice Prince 19:20, 6 August 2017 (UTC)
- I would love to help, but I am afraid the only ref I have is completely from word of mouth, and googling "희진 리더 이달의 소녀" only gets you as far as tweets and blog posts. Abdotorg (talk) 19:29, 6 August 2017 (UTC)

Requesting your opinion
Hey there, I was wondering your opinion on something? I noticed that in pages such as 2017 in South Korean music and the other years, someone has completely removed the section for members joining. I was going to just undo this action, but I thought I'd better get the opinion of someone who's been in this community for longer and knows more about it before I went ahead and undid this - could you help? Regards, Alexanderlee (talk) 12:14, 20 August 2017 (UTC)
- Hello! So since it was an IP editor who removed said content without any edit summary or explanation whatsoever you are definitely within your rights to undo the edits! I personally do not find the "Joining" or "Departures" sections of interest, but that is just my opinion. Abdotorg (talk) 12:44, 20 August 2017 (UTC)

Mixtapes
Hey, what's your opinion on mixtapes on Kpop discographies? I've tried to look up the guidelines for it but I'm still not sure. The rappers of Monsta X have released several mixtapes however majority of the songs were never released officially on music charts but I'm also not sure if I can simple remove all of it - some of the songs I think like 2 were released but the rest is only available on Youtube. Do you have any suggestions?--Thebestwinter (talk) 15:46, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
- Hello! I am not entirely sure on my stance with mixtapes, but if they are officially released rather than just uploaded to soundcloud/youtube, then they are infinitely more notable. Even saying that, I regard the mixtapes of Ravi, Rap Monster and Suga to be notable, probably because they are released in album format unlike some by Seventeen and Monsta X which are more-or-less on the same level as uploading a cover to a free platform. Abdotorg (talk) 17:35, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
- I see thank you. I guess I'll only keep the songs released on music charts and remove the rest. It is also almost impossible to find reliable sources for most of these songs - right now the section has only Youtube links as a source but I'm sure I will find something useful at some point.--Thebestwinter (talk) 16:29, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
Lee Jun-ho
Hello, Why you don't accept my editing about Junho's Variety Show? I will complete the less thing if I know the problem. Thank you. (talk) 19:23, 5 Sepetember 2017 (UTC)
- Hello, as I have said in my edit summaries please see Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Korea/Popular_culture#Eradication_of_variety_show_sections, guesting and one off appearances are not notable for wikipedia. If Junho is in a variety show as a contestant, cast member or permanent position that is more than welcome. Abdotorg (talk) 19:29, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

Something suspicious?
Hey. I was wondering if you could look at User:Partyrocker7711's talk page and at their recent edits to pages such as 2016 in South Korean music? I noticed they've added The Group to debuting groups in 2010 in South Korean music, as well as joining/departures in other years and "album releases" throughout the years. All listed here. However, when I've looked at their talk page it seems like "The Group" is just a group of friends and not actually a k-pop group. I tried searching online for "HAM Entertainment" and all I could find was a Facebook page completely unrelated to kpop and other unrelated websites, and nothing when I searched for their "albums" or songs. It seems suspicious to me, what's your opinion? Also wondering your opinions, User:Kpopfangirl2013 & User:Snowflake91?
Thanks, Alexanderlee (talk) 04:05, 8 September 2017 (UTC) -I've also just noticed an apparent subgroup "Clorasoul" which has also been added into the South Korean music pages Alexanderlee (talk) 04:12, 8 September 2017 (UTC)
- Vandalism, he is on his final warning so report him for block if he add this once again. Also, per WP:UPNOT, his talk page should be blanked, as only the work related to Wikipedia can be kept in the sandbox, not some personal fictional group. Snowflake91 (talk) 09:07, 8 September 2017 (UTC)

I agree the departed and joining sections are unnecessary, but I think in the debuting and disbanded group list, we should remove the non-notable artists that DON'T have any reliable sourcing of their formation. But if a non-notable group has reliable sources (such as Wanted,) they should be left in the list.-K-popguardian (talk) 22:03, 28 October 2017 (UTC)

Winner variety shows
Hello! Why do you always delete entertaining shows where members all participated?? I'm a fan of this group and I think it will be easier for the new fans if the name of show would be here. This is not solo, but joint group activity! So it just has a place to be! I will be grateful if you to return the information that I entered earlier. Hope for your understanding Xxfxckxx (talk) 21:27, 18 September 2017 (UTC)
- Hello, please see Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Korea/Popular_culture#Eradication_of_variety_show_sections - one off and guest appearances are not considered notable, also the group article should only contain group appearances as all members have their own article. Videography of Monsta X
Hello again, Abdotorg :)
i'm seeing one of page from KPOP, such as Got7. Can Monsta X have same information page like them? Since i wanna adding inform about them out of fancruft/fansite/funfact/etc. once before, i'm adding same information like Got7_videography#Music_videos but an editor delete it, said didn't have source and out of topic. Also about Got7_videography#Variety_shows is it right? King of the mask and law of the jungle include Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Korea/Popular_culture#Eradication_of_variety_show_sections. I wanna adding Kihyun's participant in King of the mask , but again an editor said he's just participant but other artist who participant still have it :(
What about your opinion? I need your help. Thank You :)Fenny novita (talk) 03:44, 20 September 2017 (UTC)
- Hi, so of course you are more than welcome to create Monsta X videography, although, the variety shows you have mentioned are not considered notable and really should be removed (please only include appearances as a cast member) - Got7's videog is basically just filled with youtube links, which are considered overkill, and YT series', which are also not entirely of worth. If you decide to build something similar for MX please include refs for as much as possible (especially MV directors) and you must make it visible of what music videos are major and which are minor. Please also see the history of GFriend videography and understand why an article so small is suitable to merge back to main/discog. Abdotorg (talk) 15:26, 20 September 2017 (UTC)

Kang Daniel
Hello, I notice you have given your opinion regarding Kang Daniel page deletion and I appreciate your participation in the debate. However I also notice that you cast your vote prior to the time I (as the creator of the page) present my defense and sources to back up my claim that the subject of the article (kang Daniel) is notable enough for an individual page. I assume you have not read my defense post and as the article is challenged under the pretense of notability, would you, if possible, take your time to read my defense in why I think opposite of the challenger's point of view. I hope it may give a new insight and more consideration into your decision regarding the page.
I appreciate your decision anyway and thank you in advance --Moon Gin (talk) 01:33, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
Hi, I think that his page qualifies now since he already have his own solo award, and got at least two main cast variety show (Master Key and It's Dangerous Outside The Blankets) aside from the previous info that has been in the page already. I hope this can help to reach the decision to finally keep the page and not to be redirected. ThanksKpopstan (talk) 07:36, 1 January 2018 (UTC)

Reverting the edit on Seventeen (band)
In regards to you reverting my edit, I want to clarify. The addition of "unlike some other groups" was not inflammatory, it was adding context and significance. Without it, the inclusion of calling them a "self-producing" band is meaningless, since it would probably be assumed that most musicians produce their own music, which isn't the case in most K-pop idol groups. Besides, the comment didn't specifically mention any other groups, and it's neither a secret nor something frowned upon for idol groups to have their music produced by other people.
Regardless, you should at least consider the other edits people make before reverting wholesale. There were other grammatical fixes I wanted to make which you undid.

Hello. Why are you doing this [4]? I can see no consensus in the discussion you pointed to. I'm reverting everything, sorry. --Moscow Connection (talk) 22:13, 2 November 2017 (UTC)
- Same here, Moscow Connection. Time to move on to Wikia. Drmies (talk) 22:36, 2 November 2017 (UTC)
- Hi. I think you should start a new (a proper) discussion if you want to remove the sections. The user deleted lots of sourced content. --Moscow Connection (talk) 22:39, 2 November 2017 (UTC)
- No, the user deleted a lot of unnecessary stuff. Plus, your references, as with all that K-pop band member trivia, sucks or is simply non-existent. You know this very well. Drmies (talk) 22:42, 2 November 2017 (UTC)
- @Drmies: Since you've reverted me, I'm stopping. (I have other things to do.) But you should understand that you've just made the articles useless to some extent. --Moscow Connection (talk) 22:44, 2 November 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you. We've been down this road before. "to some extent"? I don't think that extent registers on most people's yardsticks, which is why I'm suggesting Wikia as a better venue for you. I'm not going to let you make 100 or more reverts without a strong consensus. Drmies (talk) 22:46, 2 November 2017 (UTC)
- This user removed the sections without consensus. I simply wanted to revert his non-consensual actions. --Moscow Connection (talk) 22:53, 2 November 2017 (UTC)
- @Drmies: Please look at articles like "Fifth Harmony#Members", "Little Mix#Members". Among the sections that the user removed were quite a few that were like that. They looked good. And they were sourced. Where can we ask the opinion of the Wikipedia community on this? --Moscow Connection (talk) 05:36, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
- @Moscow Connection: This has been an ongoing discussion for some months now, I initially had the opinion that DoB's full names etc. were a good call, but having spent some time considering it and discussing at Members section discussion, with other experienced wikipedians who like me are dedicated to the SK music scene and focused on WP notability standards, came to the realistion that if such details were notable then the individual must have their own career outside of the group - which for a lot of SK artists just is not a reality. Abdotorg (talk) 17:17, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
- I think it was a mistake which did a lot of damage to hundreds of articles. I think you should reopen this discussion somewhere where more people can see it. And even in the old discussion, I don't see any consensus at all. --Moscow Connection (talk) 06:57, 4 November 2017 (UTC)
- I think I should persuade you to reconsider, but I don't know how. Have you looked at "Fifth Harmony#Members" and "Little Mix#Members". Why do you think information like that isn't important? It's reliably sourced. People will come to Wikipedia to read more about K-pop groups and they won't find what they are looking for. They won't even know their ages which is very basic information. And it is very bad for Wikipedia cause now it will be less informative, less useful. --Moscow Connection (talk) 07:38, 4 November 2017 (UTC)

Just because those two articles have fancrufted "members" section like this, should we automatically use it for Korean groups as well? Look at the trivia at little mix members section:
- In 2014, Nelson began dating Rixton lead singer, Jake Roche
- In February 2015, Pinnock launched a Tumblr fashion blog called "Leigh Loves"
- She also had a brief romance with Skins actor Luke Pasqualino between August and October 2016.
- Before joining Little Mix, she worked as a waitress in Pizza Hut.
- Jade is a supporter of the LGBT community
- She revealed in the group's book, Our World, that she struggled with anorexia nervosa after experiencing bullying at school.
- Now, if thats not a trivia, than I dont know what it is. And why should birth date be that relevant? If you go to Real Madrid C.F.#Current squad, do you see their ages as well, or are there only names (the fact that they all have own articles is irrelevant as the template is the same for all clubs, even those without a single player with an article) ? Same should apply for members of the musical groups, everything apart from stage name and official position (if there is any) is not really important for non-fans. YES, some companies do list their birthdates at their websites, but they also list their blood type and stuff like that, are we going to include that as well ?Snowflake91 (talk) 16:43, 4 November 2017 (UTC)
- First of all, I don't think these two groups are good examples because neither Fifth Harmony nor Little Mix are quality articles. I actually think both articles suffer the same problems as K-pop related groups. Snowflake91 also has pointed out why these members sections are horrible examples so I won't bother to repeat the same things. Plus the whole statement "[..] they won't find what they are looking for" and "they won't even know their ages which is very basic information" is ridiculous. Non-fans couldn't care less about trivial stuff like this - a group page is about the activities of the group, not it's members. If fans want to know every detail about their favorite members they can create and edit a Wikia site as suggested by Drmies, which is what anime and manga fans have been doing for years. Just take a look at the Wikia for One Piece and imagine if its fans would want to include all that information (5,000+ pages) to Wikipedia because it's "very basic information" and "very bad for Wikipedia" if it's not included.--Thebestwinter (talk) 19:47, 4 November 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you Thebestwinter. My thoughts exactly. Dr. K. 19:50, 4 November 2017 (UTC)
- Ha, that Fifth Harmony article is terrible. Clearly too many editors think we can include every promotional fart as long as there's a tweet accompanying it--and what are tweets other than farts coming from birds' beaks? No, there still is no reason to treat K-pop (J-pop, M-pop, etc.) as any different from regular music groups. Dates of birth have little relevance except for the fans; moreover, in a business where youth (and frequently virginity) is highly marketable, and where the sourcing is usually derived from the entertainment company (and on Wikipedia sourced to K-portals which are little more than mouthpieces for PR), it is not obviously factual or NPOV to report them. Soem of you know that some of these articles used to have utter bullshit like favorite colors and blood types. Drmies (talk) 16:09, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
- if you take a look at Girls Aloud you can see that the article doesn’t have a member section at all; because, well, it’s irrelevant to the group. As far as other group articles that I’ve searched, which admittedly isn’t many, member sections are only there if the members play an instrument, or the section only contains their name in some cases. When I say play an instrument, I mean which contributes to their songs and not just like they play guitar as a hobby or when they were in school. Personally I don’t think a member section should be there at all if all it contains is their name and I don’t see why Korean artists should be treated any different and include birthdates and trivial information. I know the way Korean artists promote their music is different to the Western side, but that isn’t a reason to blast articles with special treatment. Alexanderlee (talk) 18:58, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
Mr. Anime?
Is Trey Sesler notable enough for Wikipedia?-K-popguardian (talk) 16:55, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
If you're wondering, Trey Sesler was a YouTuber under the channel name, Lenscapproductions (the channel is still up,) and on some occasions, called himself Mr. Anime. In 2012, he was arrested for murdering his brother and parents. He revealed in an interview he was planning a massacre at a nearby school with his friend, both inspired by the Columbine High School Massacre. He murdered his family because he didn't want them to know what he was doing. He was discovered by police after he was on his way to the school.
In the investigation, they discovered writing on the wall in his room. Some of it said "God, forgive me for what I've done, because I cannot forgive myself." He received a life sentence without possibility of Parole or Appeal.
It was also revealed that his 3rd to last video was called "Mr. Anime is Planning Something." In the video, he was saying quote, "I'm going to reward myself with a 2-3 week break from YouTube." 3 weeks after he posted that was when he killed his family.-K-popguardian (talk) 17:06, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- I cannot say for sure if he is notable enough, but it is certainly an interesting topic that is for sure, I would suggest making a draft article and once you feel it has a good amount of refs and shows notability you can submit it for review. Abdotorg (talk) 18:12, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
Huang Zitao
Hello. I just saw your message regarding my edits to Tao's Wiki page. I had wanted to add some information I had discovered about him and update his page. Here's a list of some of the things I wanted to add:
- I wanted to include his height in the template because his real height was revealed to be 180.5 cm (5 foot 11 inches) but other places still listed him as being 183-185 cm (6 foot - 6 foot 1 inch).
- I had found an interview regarding his ancestry, with his father hailing from Huangshi, Hubei, China while his mother is from Shandong. I've noticed people mention the ancestry of Chinese entertainers on their Wiki pages and wanted to include Tao's.
- It was recently reported that Tao's father is the now the CEO of his son's record label TH Entertainment and that Tao is supposedly part owner of the company as well. I can send you my sources.
- Lastly, I had wanted to change Tao's picture to one that better shows his face. He recently attended an event for design house LOEWE in Beijing and I had wanted to include some of the pictures from the event.
If there's a way you could add some of things to To's page or at least explain what I can do to keep my edits from being labeled as disruptive I'd greatly appreciated it! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Knowledgeispwerr (talk • contribs) 20:53, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
- Hello! Okay so things like height and weight are not notable since he is not significant in that sense (world record wise), you are more than welcome to update ancestry info and such as long as you show notability along with reliable sources to backup your additions, make sure you can provide proof of copyright license (usage permissions) if you are to change the infobox image. Son Ho-young
Hello there! I was wanting to move the page Son Hoyoung to Son Ho-young as the latter (which has the correct styling for a Korean name) is a redirect to the former. I was hoping you could explain how I can do this, or point me to the article which will explain this. (I tried removing the redirect from the article, but I still can't move the article so I'm a little stumped.) Thanks in advance for your help! Alexanderlee (talk) 00:36, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
- Hello, the article itself is locked along with the redirect so only admins can move it, but you can make a request at Wikipedia:Requested moves or speak directly with an admin! Abdotorg (talk) 11:59, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
Reminder on drafts
Hi Abdotorg, a reminder on Drafts that after 6 months of non-activity they will be deleted. I'm talking about your Flowsik one that I added the image to....can we add some more References this month and add it to the Asian month chart? I, also, have had writer's block....but I will help get Flowsik up with you before deletion? OK? You do so much good work!--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 14:03, 22 November 2017 (UTC)
- Ah, Bonnie thanks for reminding me! I am actually fine with publishing it just now as is since it passes NMG and I definitely do not want it deleted, I have no idea why I left it sitting so long - you are more than welcome to make the edits you wish to of course and if you need a hand finding certain references I am more than happy to help. Abdotorg (talk) 14:27, 22 November 2017 (UTC)

Do you think it is solid....he had no albums of his own?--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 14:43, 22 November 2017 (UTC) But with my recent additon, there is no rush now.--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 14:44, 22 November 2017 (UTC) Final thought - if you add a Draft sticker it might fly, as there is little bio and references.--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 14:56, 22 November 2017 (UTC) I mean "Stub" tag....I have to go to sleep!--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 14:58, 22 November 2017 (UTC) I'm counting sheep till sleep....did an edit error cause deletions of his "As featured artist" section when you uploaded? I don't see the bytes reduction?--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 15:23, 22 November 2017 (UTC)
- Ah nono, I removed the featured section from the chart table as it is not his own work - although it can alternativaly be added as a minor table (without charting and sales). Abdotorg (talk) 15:28, 22 November 2017 (UTC)
Reference inquiry
Hi there! I was hoping you'd be able to help me a little. I'm currently searching for sources for Kim Jin-kyung's article, especially regarding Korea's Next Top Model (cycle 3). I haven't been able to find any articles relating to this directly (my Korean isn't great at all so I can't always search easily for Korean sources, I rely a lot on translations) however they do mention KNTM3, and one mentions her role in Yellow which also needs citation. Do you think these are acceptable, or does the source need to be directly relating to what it's citing? These are the sources I have:
Thank you in advice, I greatly appreciate it! Alexanderlee (talk) 23:46, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
- Hello, these refs are all suitable! Sources need not be directly related to what they are citing, in fact you can have something that happened ten years ago cited with a very recent news article, as long as it does cite said information in the provided link. Abdotorg (talk) 13:17, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
Hello
Hi, you just told me that I am making disruptive edits, can you please tell me what do you mean? I am just trying to create a new wikipedia page for a kpop idol and linking his page to his band and sub-unit. but now everything is gone.
- Hi @Nezi 05: I explained in my edit summary that B-Bomb fails WP:GNG and WP:NMG (wikipedia notability standards) so the individual cannot have an article published for them just yet - although, you are more than welcome to create a draft through Wikipedia:Drafts#Creating and editing drafts. Abdotorg (talk) 17:33, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
Aaw I see, too bad, I worked so hard on it but thanks for the info

IN2IT and table removal
Reminder, there is no exemption to WP:3RR for violation of style guidelines, like including tables. There is, however, an exemption for removing unsourced BLP material. Your reverts do qualify under that exemption. Make sure, in future situations, that you mention that in your edit summary where it is applicable. —C.Fred (talk) 23:42, 4 December 2017 (UTC)

Fanmeets
What is the general consensus of fan-meets? Are they notable enough to be included in an actor/singer's page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.233.163.27 (talk) 10:22, 12 December 2017 (UTC)

- I've noticed that they are included in a few actors pages, like Park Bo-gum, Kim Yoo-jung and Kim So-hyun. Should they be removed? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2404:E800:E610:1D5:7DE3:808A:BA68:DB9F (talk) 15:39, 29 December 2017 (UTC)

Question
Hello! I've tried to add some tv appearance of WINNER last month. Why u delete it? Can u explain me what is "notable tv shows"? Thank u. Daeunxxi (talk) 10:57, 28 December 2017 (UTC)
- Hello, guesting and on off appearances (eg. running man/weekly idol/KoMS/LotJ/knowing bros etc) are not considered notable as they are not full time roles where the individual is casted in the show. Abdotorg (talk) 12:45, 28 December 2017 (UTC)

Advice
Hello! I was hoping for your help. Continuous edits are being made to Kim Dong-jun, adding guest appearances to the variety show section. I have removed them, and given warnings to the users. The most recent user has so far received four warnings. If they add the information again, what do I do then? Thanks, Alexanderlee (talk) 11:48, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
- Hello, after four warning you can report the user at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism and an admin will get them blocked for the amount of time they see fit. Abdotorg (talk) 13:46, 30 December 2017 (UTC)

Your edit on The Rose (band)
Hello,
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=The_Rose_(band)&diff=818642306&oldid=818642196 I understand that YouTube videos can’t be used as references but what if it’s the only place where the name of the director is mentioned? In this video for example, the name is written at the end of the MV.
Best regards. Seokgjin (talk) 05:26, 5 January 2018 (UTC)
Hello again! If the MV length is irrelevant, should it be deleted from every artist page that contains the MV length? (I'm thinking of BTS)
--Seokgjin (talk) 16:56, 7 January 2018 (UTC)
- In my opinion; yes. It is like listing the length of a song in a discog - I personally think only director should be listed alongside the mv. Abdotorg (talk) 16:59, 7 January 2018 (UTC)

Your help
Thanks for the gaon links and the figure edits. Should I take any other periods for charting/downloads into consideration? I based it off what I saw on the RUN page as a guide but I literally have zero idea exactly what figures should be included in the article beyond the links you saw there and edited accordingly for me. I feel like I'm a bit in over my head for this part specifically :/ Carlobunnie (talk) 22:56, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
- Hello, the kor sales are definitely fine as is!! i checked the entire gain archive and "I Need U" specifically only made sales charts in 2015 (other than remix versions which only made one week of 2016) - on the other hand oricon tends to be extremely hard to navigate but if I find some time I will try to give you a hand. It is also a good idea to include chart performance. Abdotorg (talk) 23:10, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
- Is it worth mentioning how many downloads in total INU has to date? I asked someone who tracks kpop chart data this and they told me 688,450 copies as of Jan 10th but didn't explain or show how they got that figure and I'm not about to use something I can't prove anyway. If you can find the time to trawl oricon that would be great but I'll also ask a few other people I know for help with it as well. And with regards to chart performance, are you referring to something like this (https://ko.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_NEED_U)? Now I know not all of those charts are notable by wikipedia standards but I'm assuming the obvious main chart ones are. Or if you can direct me to a good example of chart performance from another article I'd be happy to peruse it and see what direction to go in. Carlobunnie (talk) 23:47, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
- Of course only add sales to date if you have a reliable source, and with the charrting i mean something like this! Abdotorg (talk) 15:45, 16 January 2018 (UTC)

Title and labels
Hi I'm MeIN. I need to know why did you remove the 'Title Track' and 'Label' columns from the layout tables. Do you know why I thought of adding them? I don't know who were the previous editors of "2017 in South Korean music" page but I really appreciate their work. Up to the third quarter of the year "2017 in South Korean music" page contained a lot of information for new fans , including me. This page contained columns for displaying the main title track name which had a music video. And also displayed the publishing companies of the albums. But in the end of 2017 the "2017 in South Korean music" page was totally edited. I felt the page missed a lot of information. Dear Abdotorg ,there could be reason for your reediting, or could be done as thinking its your page but I feel that you must think more about the users of Wikipedia . The goal as wikipidians should be to fulfill user needs to give the most information to win the hearts of the users. Please add you views on this.

Reverting Lee Hong-ki's variety show list
Hi, I edited lee hong ki's variety show list for the sake of the fans who wanted to somehow know the different variety show he participated in even if he's just a guest. May I ask why do keep on reverting it? Thank you so much, I hope you won't be offended by this. Have a good day!!! :) Divinegraceg (talk) 14:15, 14 March 2018 (UTC)

A discussion I've started
Hi. You shouldn't be prodding Morning Musume members. I've started a discussion here:
P. S. I've just noticed you've thanked me for my edit on Sakura Oda. You're too kind, I didn't expect you to react like that. :-)
P. P. S. Most of them have released solo DVDs and Blu-rays. You can find a list of the newer members who have released DVDs/Blu-rays here on Ruwiki: ru:Обсуждение участницы:Sayrelis#Оформение результатов в статьях про фигуристок. (There's a bulleted list.) I've asked the Russian Wikipedia user to import the tables she created to Enwiki, but she haven't yet. And I don't really have time for all that now. I was planning to do something else. --Moscow Connection (talk) 16:55, 17 March 2018 (UTC)

does mcing, variety show appearance, achievement on vlive and OST count as notability? what exactly counts for notability? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eomukandodeng (talk • contribs) 15:43, 18 March 2018 (UTC)

Edits to try to save PH-1 page
Hi again Abdotorg.....I have added 2 major newspaper articles and profile image. I am traveling right now from SXSW and don't have a lot of time in next few days to update more....by which time the Deletion process may be finished. I will also comment on that page. If you could use the Korea Herald article to add the latest EP information for Gatsby. That article also has helpful bio. I will continue to look for more references as time allows. Good luck!--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 05:47, 19 March 2018 (UTC)
South Club
I saw you added soundtrack appearances to south club's page. which i'm grateful. but another editor said that we aren't supposed to put it in the first place. so i'm confused haha.. But i want to ask why you added the song "Boys and girls" but leaving "Take Me out" behind? when both songs were released under Nam Taehyun's name. Thx Indo AMPs (talk —Preceding undated comment added 17:31, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
- Hello, if you look at Nam Tae-hyun's Naver 인물검색 page you can see that the Black OST is credited solely to Taehyun, while the 20th Cent. OST is credited to both Nam and South Club. Abdotorg (talk) 17:36, 8 April 2018 (UTC)

i'm not trying to say whether they should be put on south club's page or nam tae-hyun's page. but i just want to make things clear, that both were released the same way. I know Naver have both listed it only on 남태현's page and 남태현(south club). But if you search Nam Taehyun's page on Naver.
You can see they put both songs under 나태현's name. And also from other music portals that i have given you. You can see the rest of the music portal have put both songs under 남태현(south club). I hope that is enough reference for you to see. thx
Adding member information to k-pop group profiles
I have two issues I'd like discuss.
1. You have insisted that biographical information like date of birth should not be on k-pop groups' profiles. I disagree. For literally any living or dead person's page, date of birth is a given. Therefore, why wouldn't we include this information for the individual members of a group? We should also include details like nationality and birth names, as these details are again objective, valid and help provide context into, for example, whether a group is comprised of different ethnicity. All of these factors play into the makeup of a group and are helpful for someone trying to get a big picture of who they are. 2. While I agree that including the roles of each member is important, arbitrary titles that are known to a niche community of k-pop fans like "lead vocal" are not helpful to the wider Wikipedia community which may, for example, not understand what the difference is between a "main vocal" and a "lead vocal." Also, some of these roles are shifting and arbitrary. Unless you can link to a valid source from which the label has dictated which member has been designated with what, you cannot assign these titles to these members. They are not objective and are confusing for someone who doesn't understand the common vernacular that the k-pop community uses. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cococoffee (talk • contribs) 20:20, 9 April 2018 (UTC)
DPR Live and Sik-K edits
Hi again Abdotorg, this time about H101016's edits on DPR Live. This new editor is a student at College of DuPage outside Chicago. A lot of U.S. colleges are doing WikiEd courses and this is one of them this spring: [8]. I saw both your edits and wondered if you might have time to talk to this new editor a little and help them create a Discography page, if it is needed now....or at least offer help for their later edits. I have done the same with another college student (different college! They are really doing K-pop this spring!) who is working on some edits for a page I created and edit.
I'm not sure they know when they are pinged with a message and will look here...so you might have to talk to them on their page. I would offer, but I am notoriously bad with discography graphs....as you know! (thanks again for the work-over on The Barberettes!)--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 23:46, 7 May 2018 (UTC)
Also, another student Jcas99 from DuPage has done some discography work on Sik-K, which you may have seen. I'm so excited we're getting some serious new editors to help out with Korean musicians (K-pop, hip hop, et al!)--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 00:15, 8 May 2018 (UTC)......P.S. - I see our buddy Alexanderlee has been monitoring these edits. So the new college class editors are diving into the real world of Wikipedia give-and-take-and-learn! Alexanderlee, I am talking about all the new editors coming out of U.S. college WikiEd courses this year, some are actually titled K-pop like this one here at Brown University: [9]....so exciting! By the way, Alexanderlee, why aren't you on the WikiProject Korea list? Wikipedia:WikiProject Korea/Participants?.......I leave you and Abdotorg to help out with Discographies...not my forte!--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 00:59, 8 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Bonnielou2013: the only edits I remember doing to any discographies are things like removing repeated links, correcting spelling or removing something like, say, an EP from a list that should be studio albums. Discographies aren’t my thing. As for the participants list, I just never bothered to add myself to it Alexanderlee (talk) 02:17, 8 May 2018 (UTC)

Save function doesn’t work?
Hello, I wanted to edit something under the “seventeen concert and tours” page specifically “showcases”, but the save button won’t work? I’m confused as to why it doesn’t work since I can edit and save everywhere else on the page just fine. I have the edit I intended to make saved, so if maybe you could help me edit it or something? Or maybe you know why it doesn’t work? I’m only asking you bc you’re the last to edit on the page and it seems you’re routined on wiki! :) Sssss951004 (talk) 10:50, 16 July 2018 (UTC)
- Hello hello, I have just made an edit and it seems to be working fine, I would have assumed it was to do with a protection template but that does not seem to be in place right now - perhaps it is a problem on your side? You can always try again and if not I am more than happy to make the edit for you if you contact me using Email this user. Abdotorg (talk) 12:06, 16 July 2018 (UTC)

- Hi again, Thank you for helping and yes I noticed there was a link fault :,) it’s just weird bc this is the only time it has ever happened, but I’ll remeber to be more careful with my sources. I just wanted to ask about fan meeting because other artist have fan meetings listed under “concerts and tours”, so I just wanted to know if there’s specific reason they can’t be under svt’s?? Sssss951004 (talk) 14:41, 16 July 2018 (UTC)
- To my knowledge fan meetings should not be listed at all as they are seen as fancruft! So if you see any then removing them would probably be for the best. Abdotorg (talk) 14:48, 16 July 2018 (UTC)

Opinion on the inclusion of Mamamoo's scandal
Hi Abdotorg. I apologise for bothering you but would you like to give a comment pertaining to the inclusion of Mamamoo's blackface incident on the article's talk page? This seems like a complicated issue, therefore I thought of asking experienced editors like you, who is more familiarised with Wikipedia, to give their opinion. Thanks, Heolkpop (talk) 15:05, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
Quality Scale Assessment of Articles | WikiProject:Korea
Hello!
I wanted to know if WikiProject Korea is still an active project. I recently worked on an article, which was classified as a start-class. It was one of my favourite pieces of literature, and I really enjoyed doing all the research behind it. But then, when I submitted it for a quality assessment, I realized the existence of an article from 2017 that's still waiting assessment! :O
Does it usually take this long? Or is there a snag in getting this project going? Do let me know your thoughts. I found that you're a member, and that this fell within the vicinity of your interests as an article. ^_^
Thanks in advance, MakersBreath (talk) 11:37, 4 August 2018 (UTC)

Jennie Kim
Hello there! I hope you’re having a great day/night.
Judging from your revert to my edit, it seems that the Wikipedia page for Jennie doesn’t meet the criteria for musicians.
Can you change that back into a draft for the meantime?
Thank you :) K-Ghoul (talk) 11:17, 22 August 2018 (UTC)
- Done. Sure, no bother!:) Abdotorg (talk) 11:19, 22 August 2018 (UTC)
Thank you :)
Also, can you give me some feedback on how to improve this article? K-Ghoul (talk) 11:21, 22 August 2018 (UTC)
- The article is actually very good, although the scandals are questionable - it is just that Jennie herself does not pass WP:NMG as she has no charted solo music. Basically Jennie has not done very much as a solo artist to be notable enough for her own article. Abdotorg (talk) 11:26, 22 August 2018 (UTC)
Alrighty then! Thank you for the feedback! I’ll try to improve the scandal part of the page. And will keep it a draft until Jennie creates any solo music.
All good 👍 — Preceding unsigned comment added by K-Ghoul (talk • contribs) 05:07, 23 August 2018 (UTC)

A.C.E
Hi! I was the user who edited A.C.E's members and filmography. Can I know what caused the edits to be reverted? because my edits were factual information with adequate citation (I am also able to provide evidence for said information if needed) and as far as I know they have not violated any Wikipedia guidelines. If there are things that I may have missed please do tell me. Thanks!^^ Annyeonghasehyoon (talk) 23:51, 26 September 2018 (UTC)
- A.C.E is a group article so it should only list group tv shows/appearances, MV appearances are not notable and members sections should be as basic as possible all per consensus. Abdotorg (talk) 11:51, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
oh I see.... then what do you consider as 'group'? Because A.C.E has a few unit appearances (more than 1 member but not the full group). And since the reason I wanted to add the informations that I added was that A.C.E is still pretty much a nugu and I wanted to make it as easy as possible for new fans to find these appearances, especially the pre-debut ones, I was wondering if you have any suggestions to where I can put them instead?Annyeonghasehyoon (talk) 13:37, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
- I am afraid we can only list full group appearances, I suggest you try the kpop wikia for listing such things I am sure it would be welcome there! Abdotorg (talk) 13:49, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
McCune-Reischauer romanisation and Korean phonology
"The Romanization of Korean According to the McCune-Reischauer System" (PDF). Transactions of the Korea Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society. 38: 121–28. 1961.
- The McCune-Reischauer system aims at representing the pronunciation and not the spelling of Korean words. ... Between vowels, single consonants are romanized with their initial values except for ㄱ, ㄷ, ㅠ and ㅈ which are romanised g, d, b and j
This reflects the well-known phonological process described e.g. in Jun, Sun-ah (1994). "The Status of the Lenis-stop Voicing Rule in Korean". In Kim-Renaud, Young-Key (ed.). Theoretical Issues in Korean Linguistics. Center for the Study of Language. ISBN 9781881526513. {{cite book}}

- Phonetic studies of Korean stops (Han & Weitzmann, 1970, Kagaya, 1971, and Kim, 1965, etc.) have found that lenis stops or slightly aspirated stops in Korean become voiced intervocalically within a word.
Furthermore, McCune-Reischauer eschews hyphens. From the first paper cited:
- The hyphen is reserved for subsidiary divisions within words, such as Tŏksu-gung (덕수궁), Haein-sa (해인사) ... It should particularly be noted that with the exceptions noted above the syllables of Sino-Korean words, and especially of proper names, are not separated by hyphens.
Hence, 유정 is correctly romanised Yujŏng, not Yuchŏng and certainly not Yu-chŏng. Regards, 59.149.124.29 (talk) 14:55, 1 October 2018 (UTC)

- Hi, just popping in here, Abdotorg is a little busy right now. As previously mentioned in this very talkpage ( User talk:Abdotorg#Kim_Seok-jin ), Seokjin does not meet the wikipedia guideline requirements for his own page. Just being a member of a very popular group does not, unfortunately, meet the standard for an individual page. When he releases a stable quantity of solo music that does well in accordance with relativity guidelines, as for instance Namjoon has, I'm sure the page can be created again, this time without risk of deletion. Gaon charting and sales
Hey there. I believe you're familiar with creating discographies for articles and was hoping you could help me out. My Korean isn't great at all, so I was hoping you could explain to me where on the Gaon website I can find the sales figures for albums and singles. Thanks in advance, Alexanderlee (talk) 18:00, 16 October 2018 (UTC)
- Hello, so you are going to want to hover over "Music Chart" and click on the "Album Chart", then it will come up with three options: 주간 (weekly), 월간 (monthly) and 연간 (yearly; use Ctrl+F if you cannot see them), now click on "월간" for this years sales and it will bring you to the most recent month of sales which happens to be September. On the right hand side there is a drop down menu with the months listed on them, now where it says "판매량 / 2018년 누적판매량" (sales / cumulative sales for 2018) it will list exactly that in the same "_ / _" format, it is pretty easy to navigate! If you need a hand with anything else just let me know.:) Abdotorg (talk) 18:12, 16 October 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you! Is this the same for single sales? Alexanderlee (talk) 18:20, 16 October 2018 (UTC)
- Yes! Although single sales were also tracked weekly before being stopped at the end of 2017. Abdotorg (talk) 18:22, 16 October 2018 (UTC)

Guest appearance

- Hello, first I don't know if a Wikipedia talk can be used as a rule of thumb. (I thought the talk is more or less k-pop)
- I'm sure you'll have a good point if there is a "long lists of minor appearances listed on their articles". But, but article Yang Chaoyue does not have a long lists of "minor" appearances. More over, the listed ones are quite big and popular.
- If you are insisted to edit something out, I'd hope you provide the evidence saying such single guest appearance did not significantly boosts an artist's popularity. And preview your edits so a table is not broken!
- And most important of all, I hope you don't ended up becoming a Marionette of some random ip user who wanted to trap you into Chinese idol page by making it looks Korean. --H2254625 (talk) 00:55, 13 November 2018 (UTC)
- K-pop and C-pop being two different genres is not relevant to why guest appearances are not notable, it is as simple as that. Guesting is a frequent thing which celebs do and should not be considered a big deal on Wikip. Also kindly do not call me a puppet, I was merely helping out an IP editor who was struggling to get the point across to you. Thanks. Abdotorg (talk) 12:48, 13 November 2018 (UTC)
- Obviously till now, you have not done your proper "research" and still trying to argue with me on the word "notable" and "frequent" thing and so on...
- Yes, wiki should not list every guest appearance, but one can also include some notable ones.
- Moreover, her wiki page isn't at the point which needs a clean up and you already removed her chief guest appearance which is now the top most view and 2nd most searched celebs on the week over the whole network?
- If you do not want to be a Marionette, then I suggest you to show me you did your research. Instead of acting like an "authority" with no points to stand.--H2254625 (talk) 02:45, 14 November 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, Ab can't respond right now, so I will be responding instead. You cannot complain about other people "doing their research" when you haven't bothered yourself to look up Wikipedia rules which clearly state that show appearances with no added contextual value to the overall value of a Wikipedia page should not be included in the page. This is entirely regardless of the industry the person works in or their nationality. Notable variety show appearances only exist in a host context: if the celebrity in question did not host or MC the variety show, it is not notable. If, during the filming of such a show as a guest, valued information regarding the person in question is brought about, it may be written in the main text of the Wikipedia page, not as if the entire guesting is relevant. Furthermore, it is always the contributor's duty to supply source and reasoning for information on a page: it is not the duty of other Wikipedians to supply 'proof' of their adherence to the rules. It is your duty to have solid reasoning: if your reasoning is found faulty, that is not other Wikipedians' fault.
- You also cannot claim that a wiki page "isn't at the point which needs a clean up" - the page is a biography of a living person, and should therefore always reflect only that which is true and of encyclopedic value, to dissuade undue legal repercussions.
- Finally, thinly veiled name-calling is not only childish behaviour, but in violation of Wikipedia user etiquette. Making such accusations is against Wikipedia policy and can result in your account being blocked, either temporarily or permanently. Please desist in disruptive editing of the relevant page and please do not make any further accusations to members of the Wikipedia community.PeppermintGlow (talk) 14:40, 14 November 2018 (UTC)

Sorry about that! I must have been in too much of a rush, got it sorted now. Abdotorg (talk) 09:44, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you very much! Btw, there's also such a thing as a photobook chart: [10]. Sadly, Oricon removes the data from its website after a couple of months, but all the chart's archives should be available by subscription at https://ranking.oricon.co.jp/. (I'm not sure it would help any of the remaining Hello! Project members, though.) --Moscow Connection (talk) 05:46, 11 April 2019 (UTC)

hey pal
Sorry mate I don't even know if I'm making this comment correctly or not. I'm like super new to the concept of editing stuff on articles and stuff like that and basically only made an account to edit in nitpicks that annoy me when missing. I just wanna know is there something I'm meant to read or some regulations I don't know about behind the article about Source Music ? I'm trying to add edits but they are being removed with no explanation and frankly it's just making me scratch heads and try again, but since this is the second time, it'd probably be wiser to seek advice. Could you please get back to me? Appreciated. -user:Mixsmirai — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mixsmirai (talk • contribs) 14:56, 19 July 2019 (UTC)
- Hello, so basically it is as simple as: trainees are not notable enough for wikipedia. However if they happen to win produce and become a member of the resulting group, then and only then can they be listed in the history section. Abdotorg (talk) 15:00, 19 July 2019 (UTC)
Righto cheers mate. Could I also ask why your removed my addition of their official twitter? is it because it is not verified (with the star tick thing on Twitter) thanks. -Mixsmirai — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mixsmirai (talk • contribs) 15:36, 19 July 2019 (UTC)
- There should only be one official website listed I am afraid (also social media is not really used here). Abdotorg (talk) 15:43, 19 July 2019 (UTC)
WACK (music company) moved to draftspace
An article you recently created, WACK (music company), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hello, may I just check why the charting of songs on QQ music is removed? Thank you! Pillowsecrets (talk) 13:32, 31 August 2019 (UTC)
- As far as I am aware QQ Music is a WP:SINGLEVENDOR and should not be included in charting as it fails record chart criteria. Abdotorg (talk) 13:35, 31 August 2019 (UTC)

It could be great if you could represent the fan community of Wang Yibo to insert these professions, and to include his competitive achievements in the field of road racing.

Notable trainees
Hey there, is there a discussion that you can link me to that determines the notability of trainee and trainee projects, and whether they should be listed on Wikipedia? AFAIK SM Rookies still exists as an article despite notability. Thanks. lullabying (talk) 21:44, 27 September 2019 (UTC)
- Afraid not, I recall an admin editor told me ages ago that "no article no listing" applies on label pages (do not hold me to this). I honestly do not know why SM Rookies still exists, I did nominate it for AfD a while ago but I am pretty sure no one commented - in my opinion and a few other K-pop article editors' it is extremely un-notable. Abdotorg (talk) 21:56, 27 September 2019 (UTC)
- I see. Thanks for the response! I'm currently in the process of removing non-notable trainee stuff so any resource would be helpful. lullabying (talk) 22:02, 27 September 2019 (UTC)
Kakao M
I know you messaged me with last chance but I now realize the problem and will change the source. Please reply if this is ok. I have more reliable scources now.
Thank you. --86.154.154.89 (talk) 14:29, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
- As long as you can confirm with reliable news sources (not allkpop/soompi/koreaboo etc.) that this is an actual controversy then the change is justified. Abdotorg (talk) 14:30, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
- Then surely if I can't use allkpop then the 2011 section of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kakao_M#Price_fixing shouldn't be allowed??86.154.154.89 (talk) 15:12, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
- Just added a "new citation needed" tag to that part. There are at least 10 unreliable sources in the article which is not very good, may call for an article tag - Try to add only reliable sources if you are contributing to it. Abdotorg (talk) 15:16, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
- Couldn't I just add a [citation needed] to the LOONA section then??86.154.154.89 (talk) 15:47, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
- "Citation needed" is usually used for info that has been on the article a while that has not been properly sourced so it is probably not the best idea. Also I just scoured news to find a reliable source but I literally cannot find anything, I have a feeling this was not covered by any major news sources in SK. Abdotorg (talk) 15:40, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
- Thats the annoying thing. This is a well known topic between K-Pop fans and ORBITS but there are no major news articles talking about it, only allkpop and twitter.86.154.154.89 (talk) 15:47, 13 October 2019 (UTC)

Teen teen
Why did you delete the reference for pre debut? On Teen Teen#Pre Debut Bibian48 (talk) 21:31, 8 November 2019 (UTC)
- Mostly because it is merely a link to a list of videos, not a news source at all - I meant to add a cn tag, will do that right now. Abdotorg (talk) 21:34, 8 November 2019 (UTC)
Kim Yeon-woo's show appearances
Hello, I created an account just so I could talk with you... I see that you deleted some of Kim Yeon-woo's minor guest appearances on variety shows, and that's fine by me. But one of the entries you deleted was his appearance on Fantastic Duo. I consider this to be a notable appearance, because he was on 2 episodes and gave 4 memorable performances, one of which was the famous Lucifer cover with Onew, Sandeul, and Homme's Changmin (the video of this performance got 1M views on Youtube). So I'd appreciate it if you could add this appearance back on his page. It's a way for his new fans to learn more about him and his songs. Thanks in advance!
- Hello, I am afraid guesting remains irrelevant on lists such as the one it was included on, but if it impacted the individual's career then please list it in the history section with a reliably sourced reference. Abdotorg (talk) 18:20, 24 November 2019 (UTC)
- Hi, not sure what you meant by "list it in the history section." Can you clarify that please?
- You can include it in this section in prose. Abdotorg (talk) 15:17, 25 November 2019 (UTC)

YooA
Stop making YooA a redirect, it complies. The french article was also accepted, this article is similar so why is it being rejected? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bibian48 (talk • contribs) 22:38, 30 November 2019 (UTC)
- As I said in my edit summary: Yooa fails WP:NMG, also the sources are terrible and she has no charted solo music rendering her article non notable. Abdotorg (talk) 22:43, 30 November 2019 (UTC)
That is simply false, you clearly don’t know who YooA is very well. Read the page properly and you will see that she complies. The sources are also reliable, unless you give a valid reason I will be filing a complaint and an edit block request against you Bibian48 (talk) 22:53, 30 November 2019 (UTC) Judging by the amount of messages of your talk page, you clearly aren’t a very good Wikipedian. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bibian48 (talk • contribs) 22:53, 30 November 2019 (UTC)
- Let's go through the guidelines of WP:NMG:
- Point 1 requires works about Yooa as a solo artist - this she fails
- Point 2 requires solo artist charting - this she fails
- Point 3 requires RIAK certificates - this she fails
- Point 4 requires touring as a solo artist - this she fails
- Point 5 requires albums released as a solo artist - this she fails
- Point 6 requires her being a member of more than one notable group - this she fails
- Point 7 requires her being a prominent figure in the music scene - this she fails
- Point 8 requires her being nominated for an award as a solo artist - this she fails
- Point 9 requires her having won 1st-3rd place in a music competition - this she fails
- Point 10 requires her having appeared on notable media, again as a solo artist - this she fails
- Point 11 requires her having appeared in a major role on radio - this she fails
- Point 12 requires her having appeared in a major role on television - again, this she fails

Xiao Zhan
Hi there. This article is filled with endorsements and magazine ews, which has previously been removed from Korean artists' pages. Does the same layout apply to Chinese artists? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.114.179.124 (talk) 14:43, 6 December 2019 (UTC)
- Absolutely, same guidelines. I will get that sorted right now. Abdotorg (talk) 14:45, 6 December 2019 (UTC)
hello hye and why did someone report regarding xiao zhan's page?must be his anti fans?is it wrong to list down his endorsement etc.all legit sources are provided — Preceding unsigned comment added by Honeysama (talk • contribs) 14:57, 6 December 2019 (UTC)
- Hello, so all endorsements should be listed in prose, not in lists - you must also prove why they are notable enough for wikip. Abdotorg (talk) 14:58, 6 December 2019 (UTC)
okay so it must be in prose instead.how about the notable part?what's the criteria?it's a bit vague.for different people, they have diff opinions regarding that matter. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Honeysama (talk • contribs) 15:03, 6 December 2019 (UTC)
- Basically appearing in a magazine shoot or interview is not that big a deal - we don't need to list every time someone appears in a mag. Just endorsing a brand is also not that notable, however being a brand ambassador is. Abdotorg (talk) 15:06, 6 December 2019 (UTC)
but most of his endorsements actually break the sales record of the brand which i think is quite notable, even his magazines. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Honeysama (talk • contribs) 15:18, 6 December 2019 (UTC)
- If the endorsement is record breaking then you are more than welcome to include it in prose. Abdotorg (talk) 15:25, 6 December 2019 (UTC)
allright thanks :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Honeysama (talk • contribs) 15:26, 6 December 2019 (UTC)
Question
Hi, does WP:Manual of Style/Biography apply to Chinese artists? Someone said here that using surnames for Chinese artists are rude. 86.56.223.85 (talk) 16:44, 20 December 2019 (UTC)
- Yes! MoS still applies in Chinese artist articles, whether someone says it is "rude" or not. Abdotorg (talk) 16:47, 20 December 2019 (UTC)
