Hi Greasysweet. Thank you for your work on patrolling new pages and tagging for speedy deletion. I'm just letting you know that I declined your deletion request for Guns used in Deadliest Warrior, a page that you tagged for speedy deletion, because the criterion you used or the reason you gave does not cover this kind of page. Please take a moment to look at the suggested tasks for patrollers and review the criteria for speedy deletion. Particularly, the section covering non-criteria. Such pages are best tagged with proposed deletion, proposed deletion for biographies of living persons, or sent to the appropriate deletion discussion. Please specify the reason for the speedy deletion which was CSD A1 and CSD G2 in this case. Ankit Maity Talkcontribs 08:03, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Hello! Thank you for informing me about this. I will investigate further on how things are working here, but thanks anyways :) --Greasysweet (talk) 08:06, 2 January 2012 (UTC) -

Judoka vs Judo wrestler

Hi. In your recent edit to the Mayumi Yamashita article here, you asked for an explanation on why the term "judo wrestler" might be preferable to "judoka". If you read WP:JARGON, you will see that it says: Avoid excessive wikilinking (linking within Wikipedia) as a substitute for parenthetic explanations such as the one in this sentence. Do not introduce new and specialized words simply to teach them to the reader, when more common alternatives will do. How this applies to "judoka" is that the vast majority of people not well-versed with judo terms will likely not know what a "judoka" is, and will have to click on the link to find out. Compare this with "judo wrestler", which is a term that probably more than 99% of the English-speaking population can understand.

Also note that linking to country names like Japan, or nationalities like Japanese, is generally discouraged in accordance with the WP:OVERLINKING guidelines. I hope that clarifies the situation. --DAJF (talk) 08:16, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Aha, I see now. Thanks for explaining. But as I have noted, most of the articles in the category of Japanese judoka, are saying "judoka" in them, and not judo wrestler; and that was not something I have written. I think it is almost all of the articles that says so. --Greasysweet (talk) 08:39, 2 January 2012 (UTC) -

In response to your feedback

Hi Altaïr, and thank you for your feedback. I'm glad you like Wikipedia. Why not take a look at the tutorial to learn how you can help make it even better?

Yunshui  11:45, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

Hello Yunshui, thanks for your kind words. Even though I have been on Wikipedia for some time now, I could actually find the tutorial useful, as I still have much to learn about the English Wikipedia, as the Danish differ extremely much from this. I really appreciate your tip. --Altaïr (talk) 15:49, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

User page protection

I protected your user page as it looks like you were getting hit with a ton of vandalism. If you'd rather not have it protected (some people don't), just let me (or another admin) know. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 16:18, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

Hello, just to let you know I've redone Darigon Jr.'s last edit because it looks good to me on the whole... GregorB (talk) 15:59, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

Well, you are right. It was my mistake, I was too fast to hit rollback because the edit was tagged with section blanking. Thanks for telling me, and good that you redid the edit. Sorry for the trouble. Altaïr (talk) 16:02, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

Pohang

Yes, I removed content from Pohang. I removed spam that couldn't be salvaged by rewriting. See here. Sentences like "Pohang boasts the world famous POSCO, POSTECH and RIST (Research Institute of Industrial Sci. & Tech.), and solid knowledge based infrastructure stemming from this excellent human and physical resources. By nurturing high value added industry and establishing foundation for high-tech based industrial city, we are evolving into the main city in East Sea of the 21st century." Sentences like "We intend to improve the city’s landscape by combining the characteristics and culture of Pohang with various facilities that will occupy the city." Rather than warn me, you should warn the user who added it. 83.80.170.157 (talk) 12:00, 7 July 2012 (UTC)

Can you explain this edit of yours?? -Anbu121 (talk me) 15:19, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

Whoops. That was appearantly a mistake by me. I was too quick, and didn't realize that it was a constructive edit made by that IP. Thanks for telling me, I will be more careful in future. --Altaïr (talk) 16:05, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

Adding reference on wiki articles

Just follow the steps 1, 2 and 3 as shown and fill in the details

Hello Altaïr! Please do not forget to add references from reliable sources for the content you add to Wikipedia. Adding a well formatted references is very easy to do.

  1. While editing any article or a wikipage, on the top of the edit window you will see a toolbar which says "cite" click on it
  2. Then click on "templates",
  3. Choose the most appropriate template and fill as many details as you can,

This will add a well formatted reference that would be helpful in case the website link (web URL) becomes inactive (dead/link rot) after some time. You can read more about it on Help:Edit toolbar or see this video File:RefTools.ogv. thanks and regards --DBigXray 08:31, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

I have no idea why you would delete the campaign website of the Democratic nominee, IL-12. It would have taken you less time to read the section to find that out that to delete and then post a message on my Talk page. Or are you a bot? Either way, it's been a waste of my time and effort to keep Wikipedia up to date. 184.78.81.245 (talk) 22:10, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

My bad, but I only saw that random Y on the page, which was a edit made by you. I didn't see the link to his campaign website, and I do apologize. Why is that "Y" there? --Altaïr (talk) 05:02, 12 September 2012 (UTC)

BaiHu

Greetings Altair, I understand that you removed my editing for the Tekken Tag Tournament 2 article. The reason I believe the editing was necessary was because I personally read the review, but it was not professionally written and not written by someone who knows the series. The reviewer had no knowledge whatsoever of the series, and therefore, had no credit for reviewing the game. This is justified by the amount of backlash IGN has received from consumers who bought the game and support it. I believe this needs to be known so that IGN does not falsely advertise Tekken Tag Tournament 2 as a sub-par game, especially considering the other fighting games they have rated so highly. Thank you for reading this message. (68.194.249.19 (talk) 05:17, 12 September 2012 (UTC))

I see the issue, but the main reason why I deleted was because of WP:POV. Do you have a credible source that can back up this fact of yours? --Altaïr (talk) 05:21, 12 September 2012 (UTC)

List of Conan episodes

You undid my addition of the episode title for episode 302, September 11th 2012, "The Surpirisingly Well-Adjusted Later Life of Honey Boo Boo", reasoning that this wasn't constructive. All other episodes have their titles. Adding the episode title is only possible after the show has aired, because it is only shown between 0:00:29 and 0:00:31 in the shows intro sequence.
Your undo is nothing but destructive and only removes valuable content on that particular page. I undid your undo.

Hi, Altaïr. I blocked User:Altaïr back in March for 3 months. I notice you objected to two sets of edits made to the Matt Vogel article by that IP today, warning that IP for vandalism. Most of his edits consist of things like adding the subject's birth name to the Infobox, putting spaces after the equal signs in the metadata, removing spaces in the External links heading, adding a link to the Welsh Wikipedia version of the article, etc.

The only things I can see that could be considered non-constructive would be adding the Ref section & template when there no inline cites in the article, and adding an unsourced diminutive nickname to the opening line of the Lead. The only policy violation I can see that would warrant a warning would be the latter, but in that case, I'd admonish the editor by telling them about WP:V, WP:NOR, WP:CS, et al. Moreover, the entire article is missing cites, including the main paragraph, and the last sentence on his personal life. So if you don't mind my asking, why do you regard this as vandalism? Nightscream (talk) 17:58, 12 September 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for informing me of this. I have just checked the edits this IP made and don't understand myself why I reverted them. I am not sure what went wrong. I don't regard those edits as vandalism, not at all. I guess I must've been too quick, and maybe I didn't see the edits I reverted. Thanks for telling me this, and for informing my of my rather embarrasing mistake. I will definitely be more careful in the future. --Altaïr (talk) 19:15, 12 September 2012 (UTC)

Notifying admin board

Hello there. Thank you for your recent revert (multiple) to the Brent Lillibridge article. The editor whose edits you reverted and subsequent warnings to their user page has been blocked. I went ahead and notified the admin board and a block has been applied. Considering the few edits and high number of warnings to the editor's talk page, I might recommend doing the same in the future – which will likely prevent continued vandalism from the editor to the same article (or others). Cheers! Zepppep (talk) 18:21, 14 September 2012 (UTC)

Magic space removal

Hello, Altaïr. Could you perform the magic you did at Malala Yousafzai again at Khalil al-Wazir? I've made a couple of attempts, with unsatisfactory results. Thanks! Rothorpe (talk) 00:59, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
