Solardome

[edit]

Hi Anna, lots of problems, I'm afraid. I deleted your article because

  • the article was a copyright violation. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. In this case, this page says © Solardome Industries Limited 1995-2013. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient. But in any case the copyrighted text is far too promotional to be useful for Wikipedia's purposes, so there would not be any point in your jumping through all the hoops that are required.
  • it did not provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. You gave no references at all, and the fact that geodesic domes and Buckminster Fuller are notable doesn't necessarily make Solardome notable.
  • Half the article is about Fuller, who has his own article. While it's appropriate to give a bit of background, you should start by discussing the subject of the article, its history can come later. You need to establish the notability of the Solardome.
  • it was written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. Examples of unsourced claims presented as fact (ignoring the hagiographic tone of the Fuller bit) include: if they can withstand these weather conditions then they would make the ultimate in greenhouse design... sold many 100s... The majority of these old greenhouse domes are still in use today; a true testament to their strength and durability... well-known and popular... for many applications across the domestic, commercial and educational markets... a world leader and expert... offer a bespoke design service for our... — the ® symbol is a sure sign that a company is about to post spam.
  • it's all about what the company sells, little about the company itself other than locations. How many employees? Turnover? Profits? Has the company ever received negative publicity? Who are its competitors?
  • You have an obvious conflict of interest when it comes to editing articles about this subject. If, after reading the information about notability linked above, you still believe that your company is notable enough for a Wikipedia article (and that there is significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources), you could, if you wish, post a request at Wikipedia:Requested articles for the article to be created. See also Wikipedia:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest.

I hope this clarifies, Jimfbleak - talk to me? 12:26, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It's probably small consolation, but if you had edited under the company name instead of your own, as many companies do, you would have been blocked indefinitely by now. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 12:34, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The article you pointed to appears, as you say, to be a misspelling, so I've moved it to Solardome. If you want to add to the article, please bear in mind the points above. You could always do a draft here. Have a look at YouTube for ideas on layout and referencing, although you don't need anything like as much detail for a starter article. References ideally should go next to the point they support and are formatted <ref>[url description]</ref> Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:26, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
