Please do not use Wikipedia to promote businesses, like you did in the article CarAudioNow. Wikipedia is not a trade directory. If you want to list a company for potential customers to find, please consider alternative outlets. Thank you. CatcherStorm talk 17:02, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

legitimate account trying to submit legitimate information about a blog/company

I'm attempting to submit unbiased information about a legitimate company/blog that deserves to be present on Wikipedia like any other blog or website. If something in the submission is inauthentic, self-promoting or otherwise violates the conflict of interest, I would be happy to remove or update. Aphiliate Network (talk) 23:04, 18 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Authenticity is not the issue here. There is no such thing as "unbiased information". All information sources have biases. Wikipedia is not a database of things that exist; this is an encyclopedia with criteria for inclusion, which we term notability, like a notable company. The vast majority of the millions of companies that exist do not merit articles. Pleas read about conflict of interest and paid editing. Your current username seems like it is that of a company as well; if so, please tell us a new username you want this account renamed to. Please also tell what edits you intend to make now that you know you won't be permitted to, in the short term, edit about this company or promote companies. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 08:47, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A: You can rename this account to kgs1989 if it is available. This was not meant to be a company account or reflect a company so that was a mistake.

Your Q:

A: I'm only trying to follow the guidelines by Wikipedia and provide relevant information about the company submitted. Apologies if this does not meet the guidelines or appears promotional and feel free to omit if it's irrelevant. Below the References section of my submission I was going to add a section for "Awards" with two areas: - The New World Report Best Automotive & Marine Audio Products Advisory Platform 2021: https://www.thenewworldreport.com/winners/caraudionow/ - Corporate Vision Best Vehicle Sound Products & Applications Resource 2020: https://www.corporatevision-news.com/winners/caraudionow/ Aphiliate Network (talk) 16:31, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Aphiliate Network. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Draft:Caraudionow.com, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Aphiliate Network. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Aphiliate Network|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 18:27, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not convinced that you are completely unrelated to caraudionow. In fact, I believe you are most likely the founder of CarAudioNow and are attempting to mislead us. In any case, there's no chance you'll be unblocked to write about CarAudioNow and you have demonstrated you don't understand WP:PROMO as well as WP:COI and WP:PAID. Request reason:

Appeal for Reconsideration I appreciate the attention given to my previous appeals and would like to provide additional clarification regarding my relationship with CarAudioNow. I apologize in advance as well, as this is a bit of a learning process for myself. To be clear - I am the founder of CarAudioNow and wasn't intending to omit or mislead that fact. I apologize if my brevity was misleading. At the same time though I want to emphasize that I am not seeking personal gain necessarily or compensation through these Wikipedia submissions. I am also not paying other individuals or professionals to try to circumvent Wiki policies and submit a page on my behalf... I understand the concerns raised about conflict of interest, promotion, and bias. Again, my intention is solely to contribute relevant and unbiased information about CarAudioNow to enhance the Wikipedia community's understanding of the company like any other company that has a published page on Wiki. I acknowledge the guidelines on conflict of interest and paid editing and assure the Wikipedia administrators that my primary goal is to adhere to these guidelines and contribute constructively. That being said, I didn't think that the disclosure suggestion Spiderone sent aligned with my particular case. However, if IS the correct disclosure I am happy to add it to prevent any sort of transparency questions (note I removed the suggested disclosure template here from Spiderone because it kept breaking my response). If this isn't the correct disclosure, could you point me to the correct one? I went through paid contribution disclosures page but didn't see anything that necessarily fit my use case because I'm not being paid. I know I mentioned this in a previous appeal as well, but in response to the request for a new username, could rename this account to 'kgs1989' if it is available? The initial choice of the username was not intended to represent a company - again I am learning Wikipedia's policies and I appreciate the opportunity to rectify any misunderstanding. Regarding the proposed edits to add "Awards", I am willing to omit the section on awards if it is perceived as promotional or irrelevant. My aim is to follow Wikipedia guidelines and contribute information that aligns with the encyclopedia's standards. I thought that this would be a necessary component to the submission... If there are any other questionable aspects of the submission I made I would be happy to make them. I hope this additional information clarifies my intentions and commitment to abiding by Wikipedia's policies. I do value the principles of transparency and neutrality upheld by Wikipedia, and am open to any further suggestions or adjustments necessary to be as transparent as possible. One other question - should I continue to add to this talk or be replacing previous appeals with the most current one? Thank you in advance and appreciate your patience. Please describe concisely and clearly what you did to get blocked, what you would do different, and as you will not be unblocked to write about your company or within your conflict of interest, what constructive edits you would make. Thanks

You don't seem to have read my decline message above. Furthermore, companies do not "have published pages" here; Wikipedia has articles about companies meeting our criteria(as I described previously). Articles are typically written by independent editors wholly unconnected with the subject, and are not for the benefit of the subject. There may be benefits, but those are on the side and not our goal. 331dot (talk) 10:34, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi 331dot. I tried to address your message and questions specifically in my responses above with the quotations. Sorry if I missed something. Is there something in particular I didn't cover in my responses? Poor choice of words with "have published pages".. I'm just trying to understand if this article I'm trying to publish must be published by someone else, or if there are certain disclosures and policies (for example the paid disclosure question I asked) that I am not currently adding/adhering to that I can address with the help of admin guidance. CarAudioNow is certainly a notable brand. Aphiliate Network (talk) 17:04, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User:331dot, User:Yamla, User:Spiderone I hope you had a wonderful new year, I just wanted to send a quick follow up to my last message to see if there are any more questions I can answer? Thank you in advance.

Best, Aphiliate Network (talk) 15:01, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There are millions of companies on this planet; very, very few of them actually merit Wikipedia articles; this includes some that actually have them but should not. I completely get that you think your company is notable, but that's actually not relevant- Wikipedia is interested in if others wholly unaffiliated with your company consider it to be notable. If it is- and I don't know- that hasn't been demonstrated yet.
If you are the founder, you have a clear financial interest in your company and must make the paid editing disclosure as instructed. I might suggest that you read WP:BOSS(even though you are the boss).
I can't review another request by you, but I stand by my earlier decline message and I feel that you shouldn't be unblocked to edit about topics for which you have a conflict of interest, which includes your company, at least not without first showing a good edit history of edits in other areas. Perhaps a different admin will feel differently, but that's what I think. 331dot (talk) 19:18, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
