If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Flatscreen extended reality requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about something invented/coined/discovered by the article's creator or someone they know personally, and it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. ☆ Bri (talk) 22:53, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Theta Global, Inc., requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

Deletion discussion about Supercinema

[edit]

Hello, Author0612, and welcome to Wikipedia. I edit here too, under the username Tow, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Supercinema, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Supercinema.

You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not ballot-polls. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Tow}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Tow (talk) 00:55, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Why is it not suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form? There are eight or so references, and it is very well represented on the internet, and the author is a well respected lecturer at a top university, as is its publisher. And the subject matter is very important, extremely notable, topical, and conceptually very helpful to society from a technology standpoint. I can add 4-6 better references/reviews if needed. Thanks for your time. Author0612 (talk) 01:55, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Tow: I can also add more detailed info the the body of the article if needed. Thanks again! ~~~~ Author0612 (talk) 02:05, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please see WP:NB. Just the number of references would not be enough. You can continue to improve the page and make your comments about how the subject meets WP:NB criteria at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Supercinema. Cheers! Tow (talk) 02:07, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Tow: Thanks! Will do! I will address this tomorrow AM! ~~~~ Author0612 (talk) 02:19, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Tow: If you search for Supercinema William Brown, many book results appear, including https://www.amazon.com/Supercinema-Film-Philosophy-Digital-William-Brown/dp/085745949X Let me know if this helps. I can fix/resolve any other issues if needed. Thanks again! ~~~~ Author0612 (talk) 02:15, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I couple of things.
1 - Amazon etc is not useful to establish notability. Check out https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reliable_sources you can only establish notability when reliable sources (newspapers, academic papers etc) write about the subject
2 - I got a notification that you'd added copyright material to the article. That could be a false alarm, but if you did, people will delete it quickly, so delete any copyright material, if there was any.
Welcome to Wikipedia. Creating articles can be daunting. You'd do well to learn about the issues of primary and secondary sources and what you need to create an article that stays up. In over simplified summary: cite newspaper articles (but not interviews), books and academic papers about the topic. CT55555 (talk) 21:29, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Tow: Hi,
1 - Understood, the Amazon notability. Will replace and upgrade.
2 - If you're referring to the photo as copyright, that was added/updated/upgraded by someone else. (Please advise.)
Also, the Author (William Brown's page was created by someone else, and I have added to that page a bit and refined some updates and references.
Also, I checked the WP:NB criteria as you have requested, and it looks like the updates meet all of the criteria.
At this time I would kindly request that the page not be deleted because it meets the criteria as recommended.
Again, thank you very much for your time and assistance! It is a pleasure working together! ~~~~ Author0612 (talk) 21:49, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hey! See ongoing discussion about this at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Supercinema. You should post your reply there as well. Thanks! Tow (talk) 21:50, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your contributions!! Tow (talk) 21:52, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, My interest here is to keep the page. I did most of the work before you to make it better and I uploaded the image. It was the large amount of text that triggers the copyright alarm. I'm here arguing to keep the article, but also trying to help you understand how wikipedia works so that you don't accidentally get it deleted (which is a risk right now, especially with the copy right thing).
I also created the page about the author today, but you added in uncited material. Please know that your good faith efforts here are risking both pages, the rules on Wikipedia are strict and the enforcement of them by the community is strict too and so:
  1. Every statement needs to be cited
  2. Every citation needs to be something independent from the author/book, a newspaper report or another book etc etc
  3. The admins are super strict about copy right, so please be careful about that (and ignore this if there isn't any copy paste, it could be a false alarm, I don't know, but some admin will look to check for sure).
Here's a way that I wish someone had explained it to me at the start:
Great citations: NYT, BBC, NPR etc etc, as long as they don't quote/interview the subject
Other great citations: books, academic papers etc etc
Bad: any interview, anything that isn't a newspaper or academic writing or published book. CT55555 (talk) 21:55, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
PS I am sure the article about the book will remain up as it stood a few hours ago, I got it to a point where it is clearly notable. It doesn't need more work to remain up, but copyright breaches will surely get it nuked. CT55555 (talk) 21:56, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Some baklava for you!

[edit]
A small gift for you. Wikipedia can be daunting and intimidating. There's rules that are counter-intuitive at first, but you'll pick them up. This website can feel like it bites in the first few months, so here's a bite of delicious for you. Please keep up the good work and I'm mainly sending this virtual gift to say thanks for taking the feedback and adapting to it. I hope you find Wikipedia satisfying and rewarding, I tried it out last year for fun and ended up creating over 150 articles so far. Your name suggests you are a writer, so I hope you'll do that too. Information icon Hi Author0612! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. BrigadierG (talk) 10:31, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm BrigadierG. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. BrigadierG (talk) 10:32, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your assistance! ~~~~ Author0612 (talk) 16:23, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
On an informal basis, I see a lot of your edits are adding page links to various articles. This is valid and in many cases seems to be a positive contribution to the article you're linking them in, but just beware of MOS:OVERLINK. I reverted your good-faith edits to Metaverse due to problems with relevance and sourcing, but I also noticed at some points you added some links that definitely weren't necessary, such as a link to Person when describing who would be in the Metaverse. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Neuromorphic engineering, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Chemical signalling. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:00, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
